We are trying to decide when to go. Can anyone give me the pros and cons of each time? We are thinking the week of March 20 or the week of May 1. We'll be visiting Sea World, the zoo, Old Town and of course, the beach. Does anyone happen to know what hours will be like at SW and the zoo? Also, I'm wondering about crowds and ride closures at SW. Thanks!! :goodvibes

I just have a minute, but will give you my quick opinion and then later give some more details...

March is our wettest month (if we are going to have rain that is, lol). May the weather is much nicer in general, but we do have what we call "May Gray," which means it is generally overcast in the am and sunny in the pm.

March you may run into Spring break (I'll have to look at dates for schools); beginning of May no holidays...

I vote for May!

Ok, I have a few more minutes....

I believe Zoo hours for both those times periods will be 9 - 5. Some seasons the Zoo if open till 6 p.m., but I think that is too early in the year.

Sea World I believe will be 10 - 5, maybe 6 at that time of year.

It looks like Spring Break for the couple of districts I checked - including the largest - is in April, so you will miss those kind of crowds.

I still would vote for May..San Diego weather in unpredictable at best, but I still think you have a better chance of nice weather (and more daylight) in May.
