Happy birthday to him! The letter pretzels sound SO cute! My little guy will be 6 next month, and I'm hoping/praying/wishing to teach kindergarten next year, so I have to ask where you found them! I may have to import them if you say Wegmans! Many of my relatives live in upstate NY and I love Wegmans!

Just FYI- Wegman's does have big bags of regular pretzels that are the alphabet. They are actually very tasty and affordable. I still buy them.

My little guy's b-day is tomorrow and his party is Saturday. Lots of money, but I guess you only turn 5 once! His special b-day snack at preschool was letter pretzels that spelled out Happy Birthday. He was so proud!

Congrats on the renters, 3GoofyBoys! We've been looking at homes with our kids and it's tough. Finding a home that you like can be a challenge, so I hope it works out for you.

You are super mom to look with your kids! We can't do more than 3 houses and then DH gets bored, so at least we didn't have to take them out for too long.

Finding a house we both like has been a HUGE challenge. We finally found one, thought it was perfect and made an offer only to have the sellers counter higher than the original asking price (basicall they were going to stay at full price and only pay part of our closing costs, unheard of around here). We countered back and they wouldn't budge. Crazy. Anyway, we're on the hunt again!

But, the house had a pink bathroom from the 1960s and my little girl (6) always says "We should have bought the house with the pink bathroom." To her, it was a dream come true! Oh well, maybe she's right... we could have walked to two schools which seems wonderful with gas prices and long bus rides.

FINALLY had a no buy day. I did lots of housework and played with the kids. Then I made a chicken pot pie for dinner and took a bubble bath! So I was shooting for 7 this month and I think I am at about 3.

I think sellers sometimes think their house is so wonderful... we almost bought one late last year, and we put in $5k over asking with an inspection. The sellers said they only were looking at bids $10k over asking without an inspection. So, we bailed. But, the house had a pink bathroom from the 1960s and my little girl (6) always says "We should have bought the house with the pink bathroom." To her, it was a dream come true!

Yeah, we have one of those pink bathrooms in our basement. I can't WAIT to re-do it. I'm so NOT a pink person. Unfortunately, it's low on the list. We don't even use it most of the time anyway...only if my son has an emergency and the second-floor one is occupied, and we also use it to sanitize and rinse equipment when we're home-brewing.

Did I mention our second floor bathroom is all blue? (OK, we did put up lighthouse wallpaper). Also they're both TINY and there's nothing we can do about that...but this chat is bringing me back. Two years ago when we started looking at houses, this was one of the ones we saw the first day. We went back a week later and took a second look, and we decided this was "the one!" Whew!

It's not perfect for us by any means but there are a lot of good things about it...for one, the yard is perfectly level and large, and it was fenced in with the exception of one gate. We have two dogs and a toddler, so that gate was a "must-have" and it alone cost $500! I'm glad we didn't have to do more...

We used to bring the kids with us too, but the day we saw this house we were looking at SIX so we didn't. What a day! Good luck house hunting!

Paper, paper towels, and 4 bags of dog food so far. DH was able to take the day off from work to get rid of the water and start the cleaning.

Thanks! I think our problem is that we like our house and where we are, and are really only considering moving for the school district. So, we are not very motivated and are extremely picky. Like, there are maybe only five streets we are considering in each school district. I'd love to be able to walk to places, though, especially school since my DDs school is only 2 miles away and her bus ride there is 50 minutes. I drive her when I can, but it's impossible to drop off two kids in different places at the same time.

Good luck with the bathrooms, you can always gloss over the tiles, I've seen it done at another house in the same neighborhood as the pink bathroom, lol!

I'm in. The tricky thing this month will be that I have to figure out where I'm getting daycare $ from, as I now have some part-time tutoring but that decreases my unemployment. I'm starting to figure that out though.

I was under budget in February! I still have a bill to pay though...I'm mailing the check tomorrow.

I don't count buying groceries as spending $ though I do keep track of my grocery spending...so I will aim for 10 no-buy days. My birthday is March 11th and whatever I feel like that day (coffee, Pepsi, Dunkin' Donuts, whatever) I will get, darnit!

Something cool - at the last minute I decided to go to this networking thing being held for women in my town at the high school tonight. I intended to go for an hour and stayed for two. I went to a really interesting presentation on figuring out what you want to do next with your life; I got a makeover (my hair is straight! it's NEVER straight!) and they had a "suit bank" and since I've gone down a size I felt OK about taking one. I actually found a nice grey pants suit that is just my size and style. What a cool evening! (But my makeup itches; I'm not used to wearing it...LOL).


3/16 – DH put $10 of gas in because he ended up having to go to Trenton (60 miles each way) to pick up some copies for work. He will get mileage reimbursement but I guess it still counts...there goes my no-buy. Sigh...

3/17 - had to get DS set up with the rest of his Little League stuff. $20 for cleats; $44.92 for a helmet and a heart guard; also $10.15 at Staples for...staples and a stapler (hee hee) and $2 at Stop & Shop for a couple of things...$16 at Shop Ritel; $146.25 for three weeks of drop-in hours at DD's daycare.

Today I turned 50. It was a good day, since DD is safe.

Happy belated birthday! What a great present to know your daughter is safe! Continued prayers for her safety!

I am doing a happy dance today because I was approved for a
whole year of assistance with my MS drug. The drug costs $2500 a month and even with the insurance coverage I just qualified for through medicare, my co-pay was $480 a month. Now with the insurance and the assistance I pay nothing!

Good luck with the job hunting! My ds#2 will be 6 in August...summer birthday. He was acadmically ready for K in August, but maturity wise was a different story....so we opted to keep him out of K this year. Being a former teacher (now out of the classroom and in adminstration) I know all about young boys in a grade level...he will never be a big kid so size will not be an issue.

March 16 Holy cow am I behind!! I have good news and bad news: the good news is we found a renter for our house. Through a great accident, I got to meet the tenants (we are dealing through property managment company and we really aren't supposed to deal with the tenants at all) and they are wonderful.

I can't believe today is the last day of spring break! Where has the week gone. The kids and I have been so lazy all week. I am fighting a sinus infections and generally feel like crap! DH convinced me into using a nettie pot this morning...mistake! It cleared my sinus' up enough that the conjestion was backed up into my ears and now my ears will not keep popping everytime I blow my nose! OUCH! I hate feeling so yucky!

I spent the morning editing pictures on the computer and uploading them to get printed. I have a scrapbook crop next weekend and I need to get ready for it. I plan to get my Christmas Album all caught up along with our Cabin album...whatever else I get done is added bonus...but it takes so long to get ready and pack for a crop. I plan to spend the rest of the afternoon sorting through the stuff I need to take and get it packed up! DH so hates when crops come around...the living room floor is a mine field with stuff all over in piles!

MMO3, it sounds like you are taking all the right steps!!.. Your cereal in the morning is a good choice! Do you like greek yogurt? That would be a good mid morning snack and the FF version is only about 100 cal, and low carbs too!

March 14: $240, Target, YEP, you read that right. $33 on 6 mos of zyrtec' Mobigo and 1 extra game for EACH of my grandsons, so $140 there. New cookie sheets, as my son in law refuses to NOT put the non stick ones in the dishwasher and they now stick BAD, $25, nice cephalon, big ones. Also some misc. stuff I needed, plastic containers etc. The whole time going through the store, I kept saying, 'I am going to have to confess this on Dis boards". My daughter laughed and told me to get over it. I can't believe I spent that much $$$.n: Tomorrow, I'm stayin' home!!!
