A little more bragging here: I saved $30 on that grocery bill between sales and coupons AND walked out with coupons for a free box of frozen fish and a free gallon of milk. I'm pretty proud of myself!

It's a no buy day....but it doesn't feel like it. Went for my six month check-up/cleaning at the dentist today. I mentioned to him that my bite has been feeling weird for about 7 months. Not painful, just weird. He investigated and informed me that my bite has changed from clenching/grinding at night! :scared1: So he recommends getting braces (invisalign) before my bite gets worse. $3000-$4500!!! I'm pretty sure there will be some clenching/grinding tonight due to stress!! Boo.

SunnieRN, I too did not think you were bragging. It's nice when our parents surprise us in a good way, especially if it's out of character. :goodvibes

Yay, ronnmel, enjoy your gown and how nice to take pictures with you mom. Sorry she's sick.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I love the idea of doing a photoshoot with her. How fun to try on the dress. When is the wedding? It seems like it is getting close....We are all going to want to see a picture. :)

Ronnmel, I'm so glad your dress fit! I'm sorry to hear that your mom won't be at your wedding though. Please post pics! :)

Thanks everyone! The wedding is May 4th (see my first ticker), and it will be in Cuba. :cloud9: I am sad that my mom can't travel with us, especially since it will be her birthday that week too. But I am glad I get to do this photoshoot with her. It will be beachy themed, just like the real wedding.

I have talked about more wedding details in my PTR, if you are interested. However, to see a picture of my dress, you can either wait until after the wedding, or send me a PM. I can't post it here as my fiancé sometimes checks this site. :goodvibes

Oops, forgot that I stopped to get food and litter for my cats today. Not a no-buy day after all.

I'm in for the month! This should be a good month. No birthdays, baby showers, weddings, ect! I am hopeful that we will be spending a bit extra on moving, but we'll see if our current house rents soon. We did move back our move date to May 1st, so we have a bit more time.

I'm going for 14 no buys this month.

March 1 :cheer2:

March 2 $31 groceries, $40 gas

March 3 $20 groceries (why is there always one more thing to pick up?)

March 4 :cheer2:

March 5 :cheer2:

March 6 $273 groceries- that will hopefully keep us in food for the next 2 weeks and it includes a baby shower gift (apparently I spoke too soon when I said we didn't have any this month) and dollar bills to play a shower game.

March 7 :cheer2: PLUS, I actually won all my dollar bills back plus $36 at the shower last night. That was enough to cover my baby shower gift. Hooray!! I did pay tuition for my guys today, but that comes out of a separate account, so I'm not counting that.

March 8 $40 gas, $11 landfill run. I also got my hair cut, but I paid for that out of my shower winnings!

March 9 :cheer2:

March 10 $16 ticket to the local children's museum

(Cub Scout Donation) $19.23 - DH is the Cubmaster and our pack is hurting for money this year, so he stopped to buy Blue and Gold Banquet Decortations out of our pocket - so I'm just putting this under "extras not budgeted", which I have no set limit for - I just make sure it's an absolute "necessity" and not just a whim....

Thanks Sunnie. I did not take you telling us about your gift as bragging at all. My mom just sent me $500 so I could come home for a visit before I started my new job. She has never done that before, and I did not ask. As you said, she wanted to do it for me. Your dad sounds lovely. :)

Thank you so much!!:goodvibes I am so happy you get to see family and recharge. It was the unexpected and loving way my Dad surpeised me that made this so exciting to me!! When is your trip?

Got to try on my wedding dress for my fitting today. :goodvibes
I was a bit nervous about it, seeing as I gained 15 pounds since I bought it (I'm small, so 15 pounds is a lot on me), but it fits perfectly. :cloud9: All they need to do is adjust the strap and shorten the dress. It should be ready in 3 weeks, just in time for a photoshoot with my mom (she can't make it to the wedding anymore because she is sick).

Your wedding sounds like it is going to be spectacular!! I M SO SORRY YOUR MOM WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GO! I think you are wonderful to do the photoshoot now, so she has a chance to be a part of your wedding in this way!! Is someone videtaping the wedding for you? You will be a bautiful bride!!:bride:

Yikes! It didn't sound like you were bragging at all... I'd be happy as well. Enjoy the gift. :thumbsup2

Yay, ronnmel, enjoy your gown and how nice to take pictures with you mom. Sorry she's sick.

Thank you QVC Shopper!! I usually would try to overlook an email like that, but I admire you all for all that you do and the continuing support of this thread, to help me reach my goals!:thumbsup2

SunnieRN, I didn't think that was bragging either! Hope you're having fun with it!

Ronnmel, I'm so glad your dress fit! I'm sorry to hear that your mom won't be at your wedding though. Please post pics! :)

Thank you so much!!! So sweet of you to take the time to respond!!

SunnieRN, I think it is lovely that your dad offered to help buy you something you wanted. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

Thank you Charming!! It was truly a shock in the most wonderful way!! It just amazes me how it makes me smile to think how far out of his way he went to do this for me!!

SunnieRN, I too did not think you were bragging. It's nice when our parents surprise us in a good way, especially if it's out of character. :goodvibes.

Thank you!! My Dad is the MOST frugal person I know! That's why I think I was so pleasantly shocked!!:goodvibes

Thank you so much everyone!! I feel so much better and would NEVER want to offend any of you at anytime!

Thanks everyone! The wedding is May 4th (see my first ticker), and it will be in Cuba. :cloud9: I am sad that my mom can't travel with us, especially since it will be her birthday that week too. Ps, I would LOVE a pm of you in your dress!!!!

Debbie, thanks SO much for understanding!!:goodvibes I got a pm from someone who stated I need to stop bragging. It wasn't the present or the price that mattered to me. It was the fact that my Dad wanted to do it for me! I will say that it IS something I really wanted and was saving for! And Happiest of Birthday wishes for your daughter!!!!

Virgderon. I unfortunately think your attitude is wise, but I believe in miracles and really hope and pray this will be one for you!!:thumbsup2

MMOT, you are smart!! Not having him tell you the day he is jumping, would keep me sane also!;)

Oh my goodness, I didn't take it that way AT ALL!!! That makes me sad, cause we have never been a thread like that. We all support each other and would be happy for our No Buy friends if they got such a nice gift. :sad2: Plus, you mentioned it ONCE. I am sorry if anyone made you feel like that, but as yo usee your no buy friends are happy for you!

And yes, I think it will make me feel better to hear "I did it!" then "I'm about to do it."

March 1-$0 :yay:
March 2- Met my wonderful hubby for lunch. He needed a break, and we had a $5 off coupon. My lunch was only $7, so we figured $2 for me to eat and I brought home enough for us both to have lunch tomorrow. Then I spent $4 on new gloves (8 pairs) for the kids, they seem to lose them like crazy. :confused3 Hubby and I went to a prescreening of a movie tonight, it was awful, but he liked it. It was called Cedar Rapids. We didn't buy anything there. I did buy groceries as well. Will record those tomorrow cause I need to dig out the receipt. I got a call while we were at the movies that I don't have to work tomorrow after all. So happy about that, have lots to do in the morning tomorrow.
March 3-$0 :yay: Have a busy evening ahead, but made dinner in the crockpot this morning so we are good there. My DD9 has a field trip with Brownies to Bruster's ice cream, but if I report a no spend day I won't get an ice cream. And that will be good for my wallet and waistline. :thumbsup2
March 4- DH told the kids we'd go out to dinner. :headache: It was kids eat free, but still was $23 with tip. I also had to go get DD16 tights for Model UN and some meds, $20ish
March 5-$0 :yay: Went to the gym with DH, he is allowed to bring a guest for free. Then spent the day massively cleaning, more to be done but made a big dent.
March 6-$6 dinner for the kids, $15 dinner with hubby (B1G1coupon) and $24 bowling. Starting the week on a good note...priceless!!! :goodvibes
March 7-$0 :yay: Can't catch up now, DD11 has a "surprise" band concert tonight. They said it was a possiblity in September but never mentioned it again and I forgot. Apparently a note came home back when I saw sick but it is MIA. My DD forgot about it too, she said the band teacher never said a word till today. So I have been scrambling to get her clothes together. We are headed out in a few, will catch up tonight. Hope all is well...
March 8-$0 :yay: I did have to go pick up DD11's allergy meds, starting early this year. But I don't count meds. $13
March 9-$0 :yay: I was taking the kids to Family Night tonight cause DH was working really late, but I found a gift certificate that had expired a year and a half ago in an old purse. I asked if they would take it and they said sure! I got back $.69 too!!!
March 10-$0 :yay: I got free movie passes again last night for Batle:LA. It wasn't my thing so I offered to watch DH's friends kids so the boys could go. His friend declined cause the kids would be up so late so I went with him. Would have rather played with the kids, the movie stunk, but as always, I did love the company. DH agreed with me this time, the movie was bad. BUT, we didn't pay so NBD. :thumbsup2

What a great idea. I normally budget $60 a week for groceries but we did a trip to Sam's Club at the beginning of the month and blew $90 so I've had $30 for the next 2 weeks (got through one week only spending $15!!!) so here I am with $15 left till next Friday... ugh!

Like a crazy person mom and I went out this morning so she could get her preadmission teasting done for her eye surgery on Tuesday. They had an unexpected opening in the schedule so it was all last minute. We went right there and came home as the weather is horrible.

The best news of the day is that her cateract surgery is going to be paid for in full. She does not currently have vision and her health insurance sucks so it was going to be a lot of money up front that we could just not afford at the moment. So they set her up with financial aid at the hospital and she qualifies to have the surgery paid for because she is retired and on a limited income.

March 11-$0 :yay: Calling it early. Dh had his card league tonight, DD16 is out with friends, and I might be tempted to take the kids out. BUT, we have food here and they need to clean their room so going to stay in tonight so we can enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Charming, what great news! That is what government aid should be used for. I'm glad it worked out. Sunnie, I agree with Micky Mom that our thread has never been about judging each other. I have made some bad financial decisions, and I have had things happen that I could not control, but this is one thread where I feel "safe" that I will not be judged. Let's keep it that way everyone.

Happy birthday bigmama!

Bought a nice professional dress today for only $15 at Ross. I really have nothing to wear to my new job, so I am shopping, but with caution. :-)
