March Check-In Thread!

Me too! The chances of us being at DLR again to celebrate the anniversary of the exact moment of our engagement aren't high. Too bad it's a definite 'no' for us. I'm just sad that Ariel's Grotto isn't doing dinner while WOC is down. Not that we really loved it, but at least we could have re-created that part of the evening.

Maybe we'll go to Naples instead. We went there the night after our engagement for our last dinner at DLR. Plus, it wouldn't require park admission for DH.

That would have been romantic! But even though you cant see WOC, I'm sure it will still be special.

So I decided yesterday that I really didn't want to stay at my friends house on the 6th...I don't want to have to get up at 6 AM to drive up from Burbank...after spending a terrible night on an air mattress. But of course now there are no rooms for March 6-7...I looked for about an hour last night. :P I even looked some what far from DL, because we will be driving in anyways since we will be checking in to the Hojo that day. So I might be stuck staying down there. Ugh!

Have you tried calling any hotels directly? We were able to have our reservations extended 2 nights even though all the online sites were saying they were sold out. It can't hurt to try!

Finally found a hotel for that night! Yay! I think we might be going to Joe's Crab Shack too that night. I didn't know there was one so close to the parks!!

We'll be in the So Cal area March 29-April 5. It looks like we'll be at The Disneyland Resort that Tues, Wed, and Thurs. :thumbsup2 I think we'll be staying at my fiend's closely but not sure yet. I guess I better figure that out.

We are flying too. 3 1/2 hr flight is a lot better than 3 days on the road. Plus I hat driving through the rockies in winter. Feel like time is going slowly too! At last the first day of my trip is up on the entertainment calendar so yeah! Looks like our treats are going to be Goofy's Kitchen and Blue Bayou for Fantasmic. The really exciting new is today talked hubby into trip right before Christmas!!!!!!! One of my biggest Disney bucket list wishes! (and I will hopefully get o ride all the stuff that will be closed for this trip!)

My dream is to go during Halloween time. I have only gone spring/summer. My son keeps asking to watch "ride" videos. LOL So we have been watching those pretty much everyday this week. Makes the wait seem even longer haha. I hope it makes the new experience not seem as scary, which it can be for a little guy who hasn't ever ridden a real ride!
Really excited to go on RSR...we haven't been since they put in Carsland so that will be a fun new thing we get to experience!

Question. Do you think Rainforest cafe is worth it? I have never been there, and wondering if it would be fun for my son.

My 7 yr old ADORES Rainforest Cafe! Although to be fair, he has only been there one time. We were visiting my family in Minnesota, and my Dad took us out to eat at the Rainforest Cafe at the Mall of America. DS was in heaven, and just loved the whole thing. When he found out that there's one in DTD, he immediately said that he really wanted to eat there, and other than our character breakfast, that's the meal he most wants to do when we're at DLR in March.

I know the Rainforest Café tends to get pretty average reviews. However, we've always enjoyed our meals there (even as an all adult party). We've been to the one at DLR twice and the one at DLP twice. It is definitely on the noisy side, but it's fun. If you're going there with kids, make sure you get seated inside. However, for adults, the patio is quite nice - still jungle themed, but a lot quieter.

If someone will have a birthday while you're there, it's worth joining the Landry's Club. It costs $25 to join, but you get a $25 voucher, plus another $25 voucher to use during your birthday month. Plus it gets you some perks like priority seating and discounts on their merchandise.

If you have never been and your kid likes animals, it can be fun. My kids always beg to go there. Just have low expectations of the food. I have heard it compared to Chilis or Applebee's, I don't know that is true as I haven't eaten at any of those places for many years but we usually leave satisfied. We do stick to appetizers though.

My son LOVES animals and birds. We have annual passes to our local zoo so we are big animal lovers! I guess I need to get DH to make a reservation then! I don't think we even have one locally! But I bet my son will like it! Thank you!

Anyone else crossing their fingers that gas stays this low for a few more months? LOL Unlikely, but dh just filled our tank up for 21 bucks which hasn't happened in FOREVER!!

My boys love animals, but when we ate at Rainforest Cafe, my youngest was so scared! He did not like the animatronic animals and basically hid the entire time. We got him to forget about it for awhile when he was eating his dinosaur chicken nuggets...but overall he was very freaked out. The gorilla terrified him. Just an FYI :goodvibes

I think you have to go at least once. It's a super fun atmosphere, which I think you are paying the most for because in my opinion, the food is just okay.

My daughter did okay downstairs, which is where we were seated. Our friends (who live in the area) were having dinner with us and said, oh you HAVE to go upstairs, there's a huge elephant and its so awesome! I was hesitant because I wasn't sure how my DD would do. Sure enough, she lost her mind. So for us, the downstairs was fun, the upstairs--not so much lol. Our friends' son, who is the same age as my DD (both were newly 3 at the time), loved it, so you just never know...

There is a Rain Forest Cafe in San Francisco, if you live near by or might be visiting the city at some point.

Here is more location information: :)
