March Check-In Thread!

Oh Jen that's awful! Your poor son!! I'm so sorry he (and you all) are dealing with that. That would be a hard decision to make :(

Thank you for responding - I know that isn't pleasant to read. :). He is a bit better tonight, thank goodness.

Trying to decide whether to let him in on the surprise trip so he can have a say in whether he wants to chance it. If we cancel and I don't tell him, they will never know about their near-miss which is better. Sadly, this will be the second DL trip canceled within a year - we had Cali road trip canceled last minute in July due to one of my parents health emergency and subsequent surgery. Seems like we may never get to DL!

Jen...that is rough! I hope you can figure out what is best for your family. I went ahead and bought our tickets yesterday. But I am still disappointed! I mean in the long run it probably won't matter, my son will probably be a lot more interested in the characters then the rides. We will still have fun...can't wait to get in to warmer weather where the sun actually comes out. And just be doing something fun. We need the vacation. Last year was just awful for us as a family so I think it will be good for us!
Gonna try to be positive about it! But I am disappointed!

Hopefully you will have so much fun you won't notice everything else! I'm trying to think positively that way.

So, we got our tax refund and now I can book our airfare and hotel, but I'm nervous!! I don't know why LOL. I've been planning a getaway for a long time and have been on the edge of my seat waiting for that money to be in our account and now that it is, I'm not as eager. ha! Maybe it's because I also just paid bills :rotfl: too much money leaving at once lol.

Also, I read through the ebates thread and am gonna wait to buy tickets just in case it does give 20% cash back. Of course there are rumors of a ticket price increase in February, so I will buy them then if the % of cash back hasn't gotten any higher.

Ah, I am sure you can make the best of it especially because you need it so much. :). My husband has been giving me that exact pep talk. There is so much to see at DLR, it is the little details that make it unique. The castle possibly still under a tarp is my main disappointment, well, that and both DL and WDW's Peter Pan seems to always be closed when we are there and it is my favorite!

Husband and I decided we would ask the kiddo if he is willing to wear a mask (a nice microfiber one) and gloves while there. If he is, I think we are still a go. We might attempt to get a DAS to have an alternate are to wait outside the main lines but who knows if that will be successful so can't count on it.

We're there March 1-5 with friends who have never been to any Disney park, and while I wasn't too bummed about the ride closures, I am sad that they most likely won't get to see the castle. DS was a little sad that Critter Country is closed, since he really loves Splash and Pooh, but he's been very philosophical about it and says he's just happy that we'll be at Disneyland! :goodvibes

I'm bummed about Critter Country too. I REALLY wanted to eat at Hungry Bear this trip. Sad day. :(

Well, it's official. Hotel and airfare booked! :yay:

After tomorrow, we can say our trip is next month! Getting close!

We are going to Disneyland NEXT MONTH!! WOOOOTTTT!! I can't wait. I was having dreams last night of Disneyland and it made me wake up with butterflies in my stomach! My son asks for us to play "rides" on youtube pretty much everyday. I really really hope that means he likes the feeling in his tummy...you just never know with kids. Hahaha!
Tickets bought, Hotel is booked, car went in for its oil change, will be buying our photo pass plus this week...I think we are pretty much set with everything until we get closer and can start buying snacks and stuff for our trip.

Yay, next month!!!! :jumping1:

I was thinking about it and was on the fence about PP+ because I know my DH would roll his eyes if he knew what it cost...but I may do it anyway and tell him about it once we're there :rotfl:

That's us, too! My DS is always asking "Do you have anymore Disneyland things we can talk about or plan?" He wants us to watch ride videos, too, but more because he wants to try and decide if he really wants to go on some of the rides (like HM & Mr. Toad, which both scared the bejeebers out of him when he was 4!). Our PhotoPass Plus voucher is tucked in with our other travel documents, we've got our Disney gift cards ready to go, and DS and I are plotting our Disneybounding outfits. :earsboy: DS still doesn't know the exact date we are going, but he's getting closer to guessing. I asked him if he wants to be surprised or if he wants to know, and he says he can't decide! :rotfl2:

I love that he's so excited!! My DD is the same way, but since my DH and I are going without the kids this time, I can't share my excitement with my partner in crime because she will be so upset. I'm not sure if we can tell her at all, even after we go. :faint: I'm hoping buying her something fun from the parks will help lessen the blow that we went without her :scratchin

Yikes! So scary to hear about your son. Hubs and I both had to get MMR because we can't find our records from back in the day. Both of our moms are sure that we had at least 1 but were not positive that we had both. Arm still hurts but there you go. Can I say SOOOOOOOO excited! Just under 4 weeks now. Decided even with crappy exchange rate to book F! dinner at Blue Bayou as a splurge (we have never eaten there before) So that was my job this weekend and my photo pass came on Friday just to get me even more excited. All those little things to do before we go now… and it is my daughter's birthday tomorrow so we have family here now and her friend party next weekend…I am sure that the time will FLY!

I should have my husband get his titres drawn to see if he has immunities - your post reminded me, thank you!. I did a few years ago and it showed my immunity to rubella had diminished so I had a booster. I am hoping everyone going to DL in March is well aware of their status so my kiddo can get some herd immunity. :)

Is your Fantasmic dining package in February? If it is in March, did you call? I still can't book March online and it is making me crazy! We love the BB atmosphere, though the food is insanely over-priced.

We're doing our part for March herd immunity! :)

And I'm going crazy trying to book our BB fantasmic package, too!!! Wish it would come up online, but I guess I'll have to break down and call.

We're going in March too and happy to report we've done our part :flower3: DH and I were military so we've had an extra booster and I called DS doctor who said he's good with his two. :thumbsup2

Any luck on the BB F! Package in March reservations yet? I called last week and don't want to flood the phones if others have tried. Thanks in advance!
Mike

I just called and March has not been released. According to the very nice CM there will be a meeting in the next day or two to finalize the schedule and F! packages for March. She said to check back routinely over the next few days to see when they are released. The schedule for our trip (15-20) has F! being offered on Monday night (16th), so I assume it will be offered most if not every night after March 15th due to the Spring Break crowds. This should offer a nice selection of F! dining packages as well. I'm trying to be patient, but this is last outstanding detail for our trip....

I'll re-post when we've secured F! BB dining package reservations.

Mike

Yay, next month!!!! :jumping1:

I was thinking about it and was on the fence about PP+ because I know my DH would roll his eyes if he knew what it cost...but I may do it anyway and tell him about it once we're there :rotfl:

I would do it if I was you! Hubby and I went together in 2011 before we had our son and I am so glad we did photo pass! Love having all those "nice" pictures of us!
I think we have decided not to do Blue Bayou. Our son does ok at restaurants but he gets bored pretty easy...and we are already doing Rainforest Cafe and Minnie and Friends breakfast. So I think that is good. Our 11th anniversary is in a couple of weeks and both us are like lets just do dinner, but disneyland is a couple weeks later so that's good enough! LOL We have our priorities!

If your son gets bored easily you have probably made the right choices. As much as I love BB, Rainforest and Minnie will have a lot more stimulation to keep his attention.
I totally understand what you are talking about with your anniversary, we are the same way. My wife's birthday is coming up and when I asked her what she wants she just tells me that we are going to Disneyland in a month so save it until we get there because she wants.... I will still come up with something for her, and probably also get her some Disney gift cards to tie into the trip.
