March 6th, 2010 7 Night Western

In my area-Western NY, the kids generally have the week off during presidents birthdays (Feb.) and this year their "spring break" falls in April-which I think it usually does.

My kids will be missing a week of school, but they are 4 and 6 so I am not that concerned. :)

Now that I've said that, I know nothing about upgrades....we've always booked what we planned on staying in.

I think you have a decent upgrade shot from a cat 12 on this cruise. They have been selling those $739 cat 12s for a long time now. I notice main seating is STILL available on this cruise, which is another sign it is not full at all. I am surprised, as this is spring break for us, but maybe we are just a lot earlier than others?
Most cruises have main seating long gone even 6-8 months out. Last year I booked my January 2009 cruise about 7 months out and main seating was gone and we were waitlisted!

Yeah we got one of the $739 rooms and could actually have gotten one with four people which is unusual. We were not able to get main seating, but have been waitlisted. How can you tell if it is still available?

Oh it showed up as available when I looked, but maybe that was just for 2 people, and for a larger party it wasnt?

Hey everyone....I think I have to cancel :(
I am taking today to think about it and talk about it with Meg, but I am really stretched financially right now - I work on commission and my industry is in the toilet right now, I have a 2nd at-home job that last year made me 12 grand in 4 months, but this year I have not even made a 1/4 of that due to the economy - I had a huge car repair - and I don't want to go into debt over a cruise (trying to be responsible here... lol). I am literally losing sleep over it - which is just plain stupid.
Anyone want to take over the FE if we do bail out? I can pass along all the info to you.
Also - I will have a LOT of southwest credit if anyone hasn't booked yet.. :)

One thing that I did to make the trip easier to pay for was book Cat. 12 rooms and to also use the Disney Visa card. I got $175 onboard credit for using the Disney Visa card and going thru Dreams Unlimited. Also with the Disney Visa card you get six months no interest. I will have it payed off at the end of the six months so I do not have to pay the interest, and paying a little at a time makes it easier.

Yah thats a good deal - problem is I am Canadian and can't get that card. I have decided I am comfortable spending $2000 TOTAL on this years vacation, so the cruise is not in the budget. I am going to cancel, sell my southwest credit and we are going to go to disneyland for a few days. I can probably do that for less than 2, and have money left over.

Liz it makes me sad to hear that you are going to have to cancel! I fully understand the reasoning behind the decision. Hopefully one of these days we will all be on a cruise together!!

I cancelled yesterday and am ok with it. Huge weight off my shoulders.

On another note.... I have a NACHI COCUM reservation for cozumel that I am going to lose my deposit on - any takers??? Deposit was $20 and they said I can transfer it to someone else - I will give you a deal and say toss $15 into my paypal and its yours :)

Grand Cayman
We have done the Native Way Water sports Tour before and thought it was great. We would like to do it again.
However my kids are not real keen on going to swim with the stingrays again. We would just like to snorkel at the Reef and then go to Rum Point. The boat ride was actually pretty fun.
I have contacted the folks at Native Way and they said they do not have a tour just like that but..... if we could get 16 people who wanted to go to the Reef and Rum Point that they would do that. We have 7 people in our group and would only need 9 more people to have a special tour.

If you would like to do this just PM me or email me at tlguinn_2000@hotmail.com

It would include lunch at Rum Point.

Minimum of 16 people, not sure of the max, maybe 20?

Hi,
My son Nathan (19) and I will be on the cruise for his Spring Break from UGA. We've sailed several times before, so we're coming home. Any more college students for him to hook up with?

Thanks!!!

Checked with Native Way Water Sports and they said the "Special Tour" would be ~$57.50 per person and includes lunch at Rum Point.

We have used them before.

Just got my Palo Dinner, Brunch, and High Tea reservations set up. When is everyone else planning to eat at Palo?

<

We set up Palo for Tuesday evening for me and my wife.

I was also able to get Flounders for all our evening for at least 2.5 hours a night. Hopefully our little guy will be aggreable so Mommy and Daddy can enjoy Beat Street.

We are doing Palo dinner for Tuesday night also at 6:30. There are seven of us, two old folks (me and my wife) and five about 20-23 years old.

.

I have been traveling for a while and just finished looking over the boards. Sorry to hear Lollipop cancelled. Who took over the fish extender?

Trip is coming soon and I am so happy!

I hated that Liz had to cancel too. As far as the FE I don't think anyone has taken it yet. We have never cruised DCL before so I have no idea what it is and am hoping someone will take it.
