March 6th, 2010 7 Night Western

Welcome to the cruise.... It sould be a great time. Start thinking of ideas for the fish extenders.

I am a member of a family group of 10 (4 children, 1 mom, 1 dad, 2 grandmas and 2 grandpas) that will be cruising. I am one of the grandma units. DH and I have cruised on RCCL and Celebrity but not Disney until now. I had to look up the fish extender but will be sure to do it. I have a question already. I was told we needed to all have pirate outfits. This info came from a person who went on the Eastern Caribbean cruise. Does anyone know anything about if or why we would need the costumes? Well I am off to look at the fish extender pics now. Sign me up.

Welcoe to the cruise!!! It seems that every few days we are getting someone new to join us....that must mean it is getting closer!!!!!

Thanks for the welcome. Yes I have gone to facebook. Thanks.

Just got a fish extender off Ebay. How cute!

That sounds like it is going to be an amazing family-trip.

About the pirate outfits: Wednesday night is "pirate night". The dinner is going to have a pirate theme, and I believe there will be a pirate party on the deck afterwards. Costumes are completely optional, but we will definitely be dressing up: DS loves pirates (and all of us thinks it is fun to get dressed up).

Great to know about the pirate night. DH and I and the grandkids will definitely dress up for the pirate night and party!

I've been looking for bits and pieces of clothing to make up costumes. What fun! Surprising to see how many places sell pirate gear! :goodvibes I will be visiting the thrift shores as well.

I have another question. I see pics with tons of stuff on the cabin doors. Are the doors metal and these things are magnets? Otherwise, how are the signs, note boards etc. attached to the cabin door? Thanks for the help......of course you can't tell I have not cruised Disney before....ha.

Bingo! Yes the door are metal. People get very creative with their doors.

One of the most common methods its buying ink-jet printable magnetic paper and printing whatever designs you wish. There are some great ideas and folks who will customize pictures to print on the main board. You can pick up the inkjet printable magnetic paper pretty much anywhere print supplies are sold. It can get expensive. Look at ebay for a deal!

We have a lot of fun doing it! (Even for us big kids!)

I just switched my cruise date over to this one this morning!
We were scheduled to go on the Feb 27th eastern, which I REALLY wanted, as we did the western this past January, but with my daughter's school schedule I can't make it work. She is attending a fine arts high school and her dance exams land Feb 27-March 4th...and her spring break is March 6-13. So we are doing the western again this year! It rained in Cozumel when we were there last time, so its our 'second chance' there this time.

Well, the loss for the Feb 27th cruise is our gain! Welcome Aboard!

Anyone have any info about the size or type of luggage that is best to be able to store under the bed in the cabin? From my reading it says the bed only has 8 or 9 (opinions vary) inches of clearance. I can't find a regular soft side suitcase that will get that flat in order to store it under the bed. Should I look for a large wheeled duffel? Any help you could give would be appreciated. We have 4 traveling in my cabin and being able to have underbed storage for the suitcases would be really good.

That is a very good question. I have been pondering that myself what to do. I think I am going to go to Target and pick up a few of the Eddie Bauer large Rolling Duffles so that we can get them under the bed easily. Curious as to what others are thinking of doing though

We had no trouble fitting our regular soft sided luggage under the bed. Also, we stood one up in the closet and tossed laundry in it, then just wheeled it to the laudry room on laundry day and worked well!

Hello again all!

I just wanted to let you all know that they released some CAT 12's this morning for this cruise.

Anyone trying to save a few dollars or a party of 4 booked in an 11 may want to check it out!

6 months to go!

I just came here to post about the cat 12 as well! Its tempting, but I love the room location we have for our cat 11 and also I would lose our 10% on board booking discount. I am basically paying $810 instead of $899, so the $70 savings (well $140) isn't worth it to me to give up our room location!

This is our first Disney Cruise so I dont know all the ins and outs yet. Now, is it true that cat 12 only sleeps 3 people and that if a family of 4 books a cat 12 they automaticly get upgraded to a cat 11? We are in a cat 11 now on deck 6 i think. I sent an e-mail to our travel agent but have not heard anything back yet. Just trying to learn more aobut this.

*** FISH EXTENDER INFO ***

Ok so we decided over on facebook that I will organize fish extender!
Please EMAIL ME at liz72@shaw.ca to be added to the list! I need your DISname, how many adults/kids and stateroom number and will start the list. I won't be posting your stateroom number or any personal info out in the open on the boards, so don't worry.

GoHerd:

Yes this is true! The cabin only fits 3! There is no drop down bunk. Just two beds (or one if they are moved together) and the pullout couch.

You will be automatically pushed to an 11.

I think the fish exender will be great fun!! We did it on our first cruise and Loved it!! So me and DBF are in on that one!! Glad to see more people are joining in. Can't wait for this cruise!!
