March 6, 2011 Mexican Riviera aboard the Wonder

Called DCL today and was told that formal night was night 3 and semi formal is night 6, just in case anyone was still wondering and for movies its Oceans, Tangled, Tron in 3D, Step up in 3D, Gnomeo and Juliet, You Again and the PremiEARe of Mars Needs Moms...we are so excited less than two weeks to go :dance3: :cool1::banana::cheer2:

Do you know which night is the Pirate night?
We saw a commercial for Mars needs Moms and even my husband got excited and said "That's a Disney movie, so we get to see it right?". I think I'm slowly wearing him down. :woohoo:
So much still to do. My FE stuff still hasn't arrived :scared1:, but per tracking it should get here soon. Thank you to Sonogal for organixing delivery.
Deck 7 Aft sounds good to us. See you all soon.

Anyone here been to Epcot? (Yeah right, I'm sure you all have...)

Anyways, I just came to this realization... in less than two weeks we are going to be experiencing the Mexico pavilion boat ride... FOR REAL!!!

Sorry, but I've been singing that song all night and had to share.

Were you asking about Disneyland :)

Yes I was looking for helpful hints for Disneyland and California Adventure. Decided to get a 5 day hopper pass so we could have full freedom for the 3 days before the cruise and 2 days after the cruise to explore the parks and the Grand Californian hotel.

Yay!:cheer2: We finally Got our Cruise docs! Now I just need to get the FE's completed I am about 90% done then, we need to pack them up by cabin. Just 5 more work days left for me and 7 more for Evan then we are out of here.:yay: The kids just have 6 more days of school. They can't wait.

We pretty much have our FE gifts done. I didn't realize how much space I'm taking up in the luggage with this stuff. Still trying to figure out how to pack the bottles of wine I want to take too. But..... no one need worry, I'll figure it out somehow. :thumbsup2

Wine, FEs, and a ride in the Mexican pavilion- does life get any better??

FE's just arrived, now to complete them. 7 work days left for me and 6 more for Todd. Still need to make our Fish Extender and pack. We will be driving down to L.A. very early Sunday morning, so luckily I'm not limit in packing. Just what fits in my car and that we want to store in our stateroom.

Is it too late to learn a little more about each other?? It would just be nice to know a little bit about you before we meet the first day.

I mean, we've been chatting here the last few months, but most of it has been related to the cruise. I don't think we know too much about each other, right? I mean, I knew Bob was a fellow travel agent already, but when I heard about his whole pod cast thing, I thought that was pretty cool. You can tell he's really into Disney. :thumbsup2

What about the rest of you? Is there something that takes a lot of your time? (whether you like it or not, lol). Perhaps a special hobby, or something you enjoy doing? Maybe it's just work and family that take all your time? Maybe there is a big event coming up in your life? Maybe this is your first experience with Disney or maybe it's your 1000th? Is there something that you haven't told us yet that is a big part of your life right now?

I'll start :) - I work full time as a programmer - been at the same place for almost 12-1/2 years. It's had it's share of ups and downs over the years, but I enjoy it there - the people make it fun. When I'm not working, I am a mom of 3 quickly growing kids, and have been married to "J" for almost 20 years (we honeymooned at WDW, btw). Almost all my 'free' time is spent tending to a website I created about two years ago. It's very enjoyable (it's Disney related), but I never thought about all the work it would be when I started it. When I'm feeling overwhelmed with it and just want to turn it off, someone says something kind and makes me feel like it's all worth the effort. I went to Disneyland a lot as a kid, which is surely where my love for it came from. For two summers during college, I got to work at Disneyland - my favorite place was the Tahitian Terrace (anyone remember that?), I also spent a lot of time at the Plaza Pavilion (when it was still a restaurant) and the Tiki Juice Bar (when they first came out with Dole Whips... yummmmm). I have had the chance to reconnect with some of those old Disney coworkers through Facebook, which is really cool.

So there's a little blurb about me... anyone else willing to share something about themselves? :listen: popcorn::

Thanks

I feel like this is a twelve step program... "Hi, I'm Patrick and I'm a Disneyholic..." "Hi Patrick."

Like Carol, I've been going to Disneyland my whole life. My parents took me there once or twice a year when I was a kid, and once I got a license and an annual pass, I started going more often than I can count. In 2001 I worked at WDW on the Disney College Program doing Fastpass in the Magic Kingdom until 9/11 when they moved me to custodial to keep me employed!

I met my wife in 2004 at Disneyland where she worked. Not long after I moved from Ventura County to Orange County. We got married in 2007 and had our daughter in 2009. We now live just down the street from Disneyland and I take my daughter to visit my wife at work every chance that I get.:thumbsup2

Besides Disney stuff I am a huge hockey fan and never miss a Ducks game. We had season seats but gave them up last year because our daughter can't sit still through an entire game anymore! Still we watch all the games on TV and catch them in person every now and then when we can get a babysitter.

There you have it.

Hello Everyone!

My wife has been writing so far, and asked me to do our family recap. I've lived in Las Vegas since 1976, and visited Disneyland at least once a year with my parents, later with friends and eventually my own kids! Each year I get more and more Disneyfied!

I've been married for over 15 years (with a wind chill of 18)lol This is a running joke we have been together for 18 years. From the first Michelle and I have celebrated Disney style. During our dating phase, trips to Disneyland occurred often, and our Honeymoon was my first trip to Disney World in Florida. (Bucket list item..visit every Disney park)

Over the course of this time and now we've had 2 beautiful kids. We made sure from the first that our kids were "coaster kids" with multiple trips to Disneyland, and as soon as they hit 36 inches high-hit the Matterhorn! A running joke with us is that Disneyland height guides were our kids growth measurement sticks. :)

For the last 5 years I have been a travel agent, and an exclusive cruise agent for four of those years. Recently I was promoted to a supervisor and lead a team of 10-15 agents selling cruises (including Disney of course!). My first cruise ever was a Disney Cruise back in 2005. This was a 10 year anniversary trip for our family, and included a trip to Disney World. Little did I realize then how much that cruise would influence me and my career choice a year later.

Since that trip, I changed jobs into Travel, got the family annual passes to Disneyland, and went on 5 more cruises, including my second Disney cruise. It seems that as time goes on, my body may be getting older, but my mind stays fresh and young!

My Wife Michelle, has lived in Vegas for some time as well, and we hit it off right away. The love of Disneyland, and their movies was one of the early bases we built our relationship on. Her first cruise as well was the Disney Cruise in 2005, and as you have seen from her posts is ,um, slightly excited to go on this cruise as well. She really, really likes my job!

About my son Kyle, fortunately has not outgrown Disney, as there is so much for all ages, and remembers the other 2 cruises. He is thrilled to be going on this cruise and hanging out with kids his age. He's also very excited that this will be the first cruise he can check himself in and out of programs. (Not so sure the wife and I like the idea of a suddenly appearing Kyle though.)

Lastly my daughter Kira (named after a character in Star Trek) is looking forward to pulling out all the Princess and Pirate stops on the trip. She doesn't remember the other cruises as much, but is all set to go for this one! She can't wait to check out the ship, and characters, and meet other friends!

Aside from Disney I have other interests, Star Trek, Star Wars, and other Sci-Fi in general, both movies and books. I've been a video gamer since the Atari 2600 days, and still play on Xbox 360 and PS3. My wife tells me to write down that I also like to sleep, but looking at her plans on this cruise, I won't get much of that.

My wife is a Girl Scout leader, and we are just coming off Cookie Season (thank God), and has really done well in that role. Her "real" job is working as a credit underwriter, and this provides interesting days.

Kyle and Kira are in school (obviously) and don't seem to broken up over missing a week. Kyle is like me-a gamer. Watch out for any tournaments on the ship! Kira loves to draw, and make arts and crafts. She's going to have lots to keep her occupied!

Well that's my cliff notes version of us. I am looking forward to this cruise, and to meeting as many of the DISboarders as possible!

Evan

We returned to the US in June 2010, and currently live in the St. Louis, MO area. I am a homemaker that loves being the family travel consultant, and have been keeping busy getting the new house together. DS has us on the go with soccer and cub scouts. DH travels alot with his quality management job. We happily accepted a 3 year assignment and lived in Sydney, Australia. We love traveling and used this time to visit China, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Switzerland, France, Tahiti, New Zealand, and lots of different cities within Australia. I picked my screen name "alltheparks" because during these travels we have been lucky enough to visit every Disney theme park in the world. Disney Sea in Tokoyo was is my favorite!

DH & DS loves all things Star Wars and legos. Our current project is trying to re-build all of the lego sets we collected in Australia.

We have been on ten different cruises, and last April was our first Disney cruise on the Magic through the Med. We are very excited for next week, and will be traveling with Tinkfour, DH's sister and her family!

Yes I was looking for helpful hints for Disneyland and California Adventure. Decided to get a 5 day hopper pass so we could have full freedom for the 3 days before the cruise and 2 days after the cruise to explore the parks and the Grand Californian hotel.

I hope I can help you out a little..if your there when the park opens its best to go to the right first to adventureland because that should be emptiest, everyone usually goes to the left first into tommorowland....if you get the chance to eat at the blue bayou on the waters of pirates try the monte cristo sandwich(absolutely amazing) but make sure to call ahead and make reservations 714-781-dine, me and my husband split this and we are full...if you want to ride space mountain fast pass it first because the line gets the longest at DL as the day goes on...if you've never been to disneyland above the fire station is Walts office there is a little light on in the window...I have better ones but I am running out the door and cant seem to think right :rotfl:...I will post some others tonight :)

Hi Everyone,

Thanks Carolc for getting this sharing about ourselves going. :cheer2:

DH and I live in Frederick MD. He is retired and I am a HR Manager for an Engineering and Construction company. DS is a freshman at college, and would love to hear how you all got summer jobs with Disney. He is a business/Econ major and would love to work the back rooms at Disney. DD is a junior in hig school. They both still love Disney even though they are no longer little children. We love to cruise, and this will be our third cruise...second time on the Wonder. The kids love being on the top deck, watching the waves and scenery go by. (as well as the comedy shows, movies, food and dancing). We also love WDW, and have visited there also over our marriage. We are all looking forward the this March break from school and work!!!!

Can't wait to meet everyone on Deck 7 aft!!! I am also looking forward to that sail away party!!!

Does anyone know if stateroom #5128 has a full verandah or just a navigator verandah? I understand it has the solid white wall, but my understanding was it was a full verandah. But, just talking to my boss tonight and he recently got of the AEP and was in Room #5124, and it was a Navigator's verandah, even though Disney's website describes it as a "private verandah".

I'd really like the full verandah, white wall or not.

My husband and I have been married almost eleven years, but together 15 years (since high school). We live in Northern California, equal distance to Sacramento and San Francisco. We have two kids, which takes up most of our after-work lives. My son, Tyler, 8, is currently playing basketball (DH=coach) and baseball (DH=asst. coach). He is also a cub scout and plays football in the fall. He is also involved in our city's youth focus and this year holds the title of Mini Mister Manteca. (BTW- My 16yr old niece will be competing for Miss Manteca, while we are on the cruise. Very sad we will miss her first experience with youth focus.) He is not a jock type kid, but needs to stay busy and these activities help him make friends. You'll probably see him at sometime buried in a book. My daughter, Kyra, 6, is our social butterfly and the one we plan to lock up around 16:laughing:. Kyra likes gymnastics and is a cheerleader. Both kids also attend AWANAS and are part of the KidRock choir. My husband, Todd, works in grocery distribution and I work for a local city in the Finance/Revenue Services division. I will also be going back to school this May to get my MBA.
I started our Disney love and my husband just kinda follows along. Disney channel plays most days even when the kids aren't home. We have been to DL quite a few times and had an annual pass last year. We have never been to WDW but are hoping to travel there next year. I'm thinking a caribbean cruise and WDW to celebrate my Masters, so possibly July 2012. My husband and the kids have never been on a cruise before, so we are very excited. I cruised (Carnival-Eastern Caribbean) once before with my mom about 4 years ago. We booked the trip as our 10th anniversary present to ourselves back in June. Just 10 days left. :woohoo: Can't wait to meet everyone and have an amazing vacation. See everyone on Deck 7.

My wife is a Girl Scout leader, and we are just coming off Cookie Season (thank God), and has really done well in that role. Her "real" job is working as a credit underwriter, and this provides interesting days.

Are there a lot of troops in Las Vegas? A high school friend of mine has a daughter in a troop there. I believe near the same age as Kira. Daughter is Tori and the mom's name is Sorn. My Kyra wants to join Girl Scouts, but the leader I met last summer just didn't give me good vibes. Another parent and I talked about starting a new group but haven't gotten around to it.

I am new to the Disboards, but not to cruising.
I've been on Holland, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Disney and Norwegian. Last year our family went on the Magic for an eastern Carib cruise. I was kicking the entire way as I couldn't understand why we needed to pay so much more just to be on Disney. We booked back to back cruises (Disney and Holland). Within 24 hours of being on the ship I booked this cruise. Disney just did it right. We also joined the Disney Vacation Club recently.

Our daughter Ava will be 6 on April 1st. She loves being active with swimming, biking, hiking, dancing and art projects. Cathy and I both work for the State of Alaska. She helps management with employees and I audit oil companies. Cathy will retire in 3 years and I have 15 left. We live in Alaska. I have traveled all over the State.

We try to get out of state once a year
