March 6, 2011 Mexican Riviera aboard the Wonder

Just checking in to see that you are all safe. Being on this same sailing a few weeks ago (2/20), the Wonder was the 1st thing I thought of when I saw the news this morning. It seems that you are in the direct path of the Tsunami in the Pacific-- Hope Captain Thord keeps you all safe.

After months of planning and antcipating, it seems like our vacation is over in a flash. Now back to real life...with no future vacations on the horizon. Yet.

We had a fabulous time and I'd like to thank everyone for the FE gifts. What fun to receive all the great gifts, and I'm also grateful for the great ideas for FE gifts on our next cruise!

For the future Mexican Riviera cruisers who might be reading, I'd like to recommend the Mexican Outback adventure in Cabo. We had a group of 10 so we got lots of personal attention from our guide, David. My girls (8 and 11) were a little upset when I told them that we would not have any beach time that day, but I overheard my youngest tell one of her teachers yesterday that the Mexican Outback Adventure was the best thing about the entire cruise! My girls were the only children that day...they had a great time on the camel ride and desert hike. They had the opportunity to smash corn on a stone and make their own corn tortillas during the short time that the adults were doing the tequila tasting. And the traditional Mexican lunch was delicious! For families, this is an adventure that is both fun and educational.

Also, about the Pirate Sail and Snorkel in PV: I wouldn't recommend it, but I know that many others had a great time. For me, the boat was too crowded, service was mediocre (I'm being generous here), the bay had jellyfish so snorkeling was "at your own risk," and my children had to choose between the banana boat ride and the treasure hunt (because they weren't first in line for the ride and one banana boat had maintenance issues). To Disney's credit, they did address my concerns fairly, but I still wish I had chosen a different activity through Disney or booked a Pirate Sail directly with the Pirate Sail company.

The back to work alarm is going off now...I hope everyone had a wonderful cruise and safe travels back home. Till we meet again....

Kindest Regards,
Jean

Hey There!

It has been a real shock for me to get back to the real world. What with the time changes, no housekeeping, no prepared dinners and dishwashers, no warm sun, no fun plays...sigh. We had a wonderful time, and I enjoyed meeting all of you. The FE gifts were fun. All the best to all, and may there be many more cruises in your futures!!! :goodvibes

Yes, we too are back to reality. After a week of adventure, the Mexican Riviera came and went. Being a first time cruiser, I was so impressed with everything that Disney had to offer. Even disasters were handled with Disney care.

Sure, I would have liked a bit more time in the ports but hey, the Wonder kept us very busy. For you first timers, pay attention to the Navigator (next days schedule that is tucked under your door every night) as it's a great tool to make sure you are not missing any of the entertainment, charactor greets, movies & so much more.

Towards the end of the cruise, my wife and I were chatting on the verandah and both of us admitted that this was one of the best vacations we had ever taken. I was such a crusie doubter but no longer. I am already looking at dates to take the Wonder to Alaska.

A few fun notes -

1. The ship did rock back and forth the last few days but it was nothing to worry about. Sleep was great, even though our room creaked like crazy.

2. Get out of bed the mornings of the port arrivals and get to the top deck. Great sites coming into the cities. Don't forget the still and video cameras.

3. Let your hair down. We had such a great time because we engadged with the shows, karaoke night, dancing. No one knows you and everybody is on vacation. The sooner you realize it, the better.

4. The staff on the ship is amaziing. Clayton the CD is the man. Tesia shines at Wavebands. Nothing but good things to say about all of the cast members.

5. Run up to deck 9 for a snack to take into the movie theater. Nothing like munching on a hot dog and soda while you watch the latest movies.

6. Arrive early for the shows and you will always have a seat. Usually 30 minutes is safe. This is important should you run into one of those freak crowd rushes for one of the great shows.

7. The lobster was great. Order two, you only live once.

8. Bring pirate cloths for the Pirate Party. Man, was I amazed at how many people dressed for the event. My wife kept hitting me on the arm wishing we had packed the pirate gear. Arrrrrh!

9. Whale watch from your verandah or top deck. I called myself the whale whisperer after seeing so many in the water. I was fortunate enough to be looking at the right place in the right time to see a rather large humpback whale coming completely out of the water followed by a young whale. Wow!

I am sure I could go on and on. If you have any questions and if I can be of help to you, shoot me a note.

Love the Wonder. Great ship.

Today was my first day at work after our trip. It sucked. I miss Caesar my room steward we have to do a big clean of the house his weekend. I've had to cook the family meals, where are Marlon and Sandra (my service team)when I need them. OK I'm done moaning. We had a fantastic time and were so glad we got to meet so many of you. Thank you for the wonderful gifts they made our cruise so fun.

Hello,
Can anyone tell me what songs were on Disk one of the two disk set that came in the jewel cases. We received two copies of disk 2. These were not the CD's from PansTinkerBell. We loved the CD's but just wanted to know what we missed. Thank you so much.

Michelle

Did I miss something from the cruise? What CD's?

Sorry to confuse you NEWKREW. These were part of the FE Gift exchange that several of us signed up for before the cruise. We made gifts and delivered them to all the other cabins that had signed up. Just another way to make the cruise extra special. Try it out on your next cruise.:cheer2:

Ohhhhhhh, o.k. I saw that on the boards but got in too late to participate. Looked like a lot of fun. Just down the hall from us, there was room with a FE. We felt soooo left out....lol.

Glad you guys had a great time with that. We will put it on the list for next time.
Thanks for the follow up.
