Yes, we too are back to reality. After a week of adventure, the Mexican Riviera came and went. Being a first time cruiser, I was so impressed with everything that Disney had to offer. Even disasters were handled with Disney care.
Sure, I would have liked a bit more time in the ports but hey, the Wonder kept us very busy. For you first timers, pay attention to the Navigator (next days schedule that is tucked under your door every night) as it's a great tool to make sure you are not missing any of the entertainment, charactor greets, movies & so much more.
Towards the end of the cruise, my wife and I were chatting on the verandah and both of us admitted that this was one of the best vacations we had ever taken. I was such a crusie doubter but no longer. I am already looking at dates to take the Wonder to Alaska.
A few fun notes -
1. The ship did rock back and forth the last few days but it was nothing to worry about. Sleep was great, even though our room creaked like crazy.
2. Get out of bed the mornings of the port arrivals and get to the top deck. Great sites coming into the cities. Don't forget the still and video cameras.
3. Let your hair down. We had such a great time because we engadged with the shows, karaoke night, dancing. No one knows you and everybody is on vacation. The sooner you realize it, the better.
4. The staff on the ship is amaziing. Clayton the CD is the man. Tesia shines at Wavebands. Nothing but good things to say about all of the cast members.
5. Run up to deck 9 for a snack to take into the movie theater. Nothing like munching on a hot dog and soda while you watch the latest movies.
6. Arrive early for the shows and you will always have a seat. Usually 30 minutes is safe. This is important should you run into one of those freak crowd rushes for one of the great shows.
7. The lobster was great. Order two, you only live once.
8. Bring pirate cloths for the Pirate Party. Man, was I amazed at how many people dressed for the event. My wife kept hitting me on the arm wishing we had packed the pirate gear. Arrrrrh!
9. Whale watch from your verandah or top deck. I called myself the whale whisperer after seeing so many in the water. I was fortunate enough to be looking at the right place in the right time to see a rather large humpback whale coming completely out of the water followed by a young whale. Wow!
I am sure I could go on and on. If you have any questions and if I can be of help to you, shoot me a note.
Love the Wonder. Great ship.
