March 6, 2011 Mexican Riviera aboard the Wonder

Thanks for the heads up -do you know if you have to pay the full cruise price when you book, or just a deposit? Been spending a lot on Christmas -could probably have the full amount by next week, but not right now.

I'm sorry... I just saw this. I know you know the answer, but in case any one else wanted to know, you have to pay the whole amount (including gratuities) when you book.

Went ahead and booked! The price was half of what I thought it was going to be at the TA rate, plus got a veranda room. So excited!!

Likewise.;) Sorry, I should have mentioned that part. It was a very welcome and pleasant surprise that it was less than I thought it would be. Have you cruised DCL before?

CarolC --I cruised on the Wonder on a 4 day cruise 10 years ago, so it's long overdue! And my wife has never been on a cruise, so we're both very stoked.

I sign a wavier with our school district and take a week of school work with us. That way the school is paid for our "home schooling" week. We have DS 16, 7, & 6

We will be on the March 6 Mexican Riviera. This is our second DCL sailing, having gone on the Disney Magic 7 night western Dec 2009. It will be me and my husband, ds age 13, dd age 11, ds age 7 and ds age 4. I turn 40 March 1, my husband 41 March 10, during the sailing, and my 4 year old turns 5 March 28. My in-laws are also sailing with us and my f-i-l's b-day is April 6, a little bit of a stretch, but not to be left out. :-) We're from Texas, driving to CA to catch DL, CA, and Legoland before the cruise and hoping to see the Grand Canyon on the way home.

I would love to participate in FE with anyone going. Looking forward to visiting the Mexican Riviera for the first time!

Hello Everyone,
We switched from the February 27th sailing to this one due to the great TA rate. So I lost my Bday on the cruise but saved money and upgraded to a balcony so it was worth it. It will be Me 36 now (My bday is 2 days before this cruise,) DH 43, DS 12, DD 8. There are lots of March Birthdays going on this Cruise! This is our third Disney Cruise we have done the Magic in 2005 and 2007 Eastern and Western Caribbean. We will be traveling from Las Vegas. We are going to Universal Studios on the Saturday before the Cruise and Sunday we return, then Monday and Tuesday at Disneyland before coming home. We cannot use our Annual passes on the weekend.

Can someone please explain what FE (Fish Extenders) are?

We are looking forward to this trip, meeting and making friends.:cheer2:

Michelle

FE, or "fish extenders" are a wonderful invention by a Dis-Boarder to add a little element of surprise to your DCL vacation. Since you've sailed with DCL before you've probably seen them in the halls. They hang from the "fish" message holders outside the door and are personalized with pockets to trade gifts. It is very fun! I can't wait to see what we get and I have some fun ideas for my kids to put in people's pockets. I have four kids so I plan to bring four different things so they can all have a turn "Stuffing" FE's. :-)

Maybe someone will beat me to posting the details or I will find it when I get a chance. There is quite a bit on them on the boards.

Someone should probably start making a list of who wants to participate in the FE exchange so we know numbers. Also cabin numbers if you have them yet would be helpful.

I'll start and everyone can just add from there.

FISH EXTENDER EXCHANGE:
Angie (DW39), Mike (DH37), Lauren (DD11), Erin (DD9), and Evan (DS6)
Stateroom number 8576 (hoping to upgrade)

This sounds fun! We're in! I looked it up on the boards and got some ideas! I'm going to try my hands at crafts( Don't hold it against me.) We don't know our cabin yet as we are a GTY balcony room. I am also going to try and figure out how to make some door magnets decorations.

My wife and I would love to participate in this too! No stateroom yet because like you, we got the TA rate and are in a GTY balcony room.

Myself (31) and my boyfriend (30) will be on board for this one celebrating having been together for four years. I'm already excited! This will be our second DCL cruise - our first was a four day Bahamas attached to a nine day WDW trip last year.

Count us in on the FE exchange! I'll have to make an FE...any excuse to sew. ;)

This is also my first post. Hi everyone!

ps: Forgot to mention that we'll be staying at GCH on points Friday - Sunday before the cruise, just for fun.

Welcome!

As stated previously we definately want to participate in the FE, my son loved it so much on our first cruise. No room number yet, we are guarantee!

We are flying into SNA on Thursday evening, and will spend Friday at Disneyland, Saturday at California Adventure!

Everyone have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS or enjoy the holiday season with your loved ones! We are off to spend the week with ours. The cruise will be here before you know it.

Count us in for FEs. We are a family of four (Kalena 31, Todd 32, Son-Tyler 8, Daughter- Kyra 6. This will be our first (hopefully of many) Disney cruise. We are stateroom 7598.
We live in Northern California, so we will be driving down. My son has a local event he needs to attend on Saturday the 5th, so we will just drive in very early that morning. Our kids are out of school the week after the cruise so we are planning our Disneyland and Universal trips then. Nothing concrete yet as I'm still trying to train someone to cover for me, while I'm gone.
Has anyone heard if they are still doing the Pirate party in Mexico? Or are they doing something different? Already bought some pirate supplies/outfits, just in case.

When we made our reservations, my boyfriend asked about the pirate party and got confirmation that they're doing it. I'm going to try to put together some EPIC pirate outfits. Good to know we won't be the only ones dressed up! =)

Merry Christmas everyone. Kids are officially excited about the cruise as a Christmas present. I hope everyone's day is Wonderful!:santa:

Ok, here is the list I have. I know there are more that are in this roll call but haven't yet commited to the FE so if you could just let us know one way or the other.... that would be great! Also, details are good on name, age, stateroom, etc. We also will need a cutoff date for accepting new FE participants and also a contact person for stateroom changes and assignments. I am willing to do that but unsure how to just in case we upgrade at the port. I propose our last day for FE sign-up is somewhere around the first of February.

Hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas. I am busy Disney planning. :woohoo:

Thank you for organizing us!!! We're SO excited!!!
We are in GTY but will update staterooms once they are assigned. Not looking to upgrade with the connecting rooms and a four year old. I am happy to have no access to the outside so oceanview is good for us. :-)

I will participate in the FE exchange as well, but don't have a clue what to do. :confused3 Does someone know where there are some photos of the FE's? And what kinds of items do people put in... do you know of any links to ideas?

It will be me (Carol) and DH ("J"). We also have a GTY balcony, so don't know our stateroom number yet.

In the main Disney Cruise line area, do a search for "fish extender exchange ideas or gifts." This will bring up numerous posts with lots of ideas and pictures. You can do something store bought or homemade, related to where you live or the cruise itself, etc, etc. You get the drift. Just something fun for the other members. You don't need to spend a lot.

Each stateroom is assigned a day so that would be when you would deliver your gifts to the other participants' staterooms. Most have the FE hanging from the fish just outside their door. Has pockets to place things in.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need more/better explanation.
