March 5, 2011 - Bushwacker Wild Wild Westerners

HI!
Well I am a newbie to this site...well actually not really to the site, as I have looked at it briefly a few other times - but tonight - finally registered and found this thread!:cool1:

I am so excited....less the 52 days until we set sail! This will be DH & I's 2nd cruise. It will be DS very first one! He just turned 4 on Sunday! We are also traveling with my parents, and my SiL and her 2 DS (10 & 6)!

We are flying in on Saturday morning (very early) and should be at the terminal by 11am or before!

Aside from the excursions, and ship activities - what else can I participate in? I have heard about the door decorating, meet and greets, etc.....

So basically I am looking for some cool people that my DH & SiL and I can hang out with maybe one night, etc....

Sorry for my rambling....but I have just got a sudden burst of excitement as the trip is nearing quicker and quicker!

Hope to hear from someone(s) soon!

Want to say :welcome: to the Dog Family. Thank you for making your very first post here on our Bushwacker Thread. We are a nice little group here. Some of us are friends from previous cruises and others have become friends through this thread. So here is a friend chair; now have a seat...:rotfl2: I know we have a lot of pages. I think you need a few more post before you can PM Johnna with your information. We would love to add you to our spread sheet. So get to posting so we can get to know you... Any questions, ask away.:goodvibes

Mic.key Actually my DD's coat was a Columbia. I can not complain though. She has been in it since October 2008. So she got 2 1/2 seasons out of it. I actually went out and got another one, so I must be ok with it right?:rotfl2: I have heard bad things about the "zero" ones... So we have not purchased one of those.

Lady Story~ :scared1::scared1: I would have woke up screaming..... Mental note, pack ahead of time.... Since you have lost so much weight, you can not fit into my clothes... The good thing is we would have a reason to do some Duty Free Shopping if that were to happen. I would have Mark's had though... I spent today trying to arrange my call schedule so that I will not be on-call anytime near the trip. I will have to make up for it when we return though. I also read your 'debate' post over on the other site. I guess I was clueless that there was even a political side to it... I only thought of the Mental Health part the entire time. JUst thinking it was sad he slipped through the system. So it actually took me a little bit to process what everyone was saying... Even though we have opposite Health Care beliefs; I was on your side for sure. Hey BJ, you can not give her cake though. It is not in the points system.;)

BJ~ I posted to MicDay. I will wait to hear.

All~ I am NOT letting my teenager have a phone on the ship. I guess I am getting a new soap box.... I just do not think that was the intent for them. If mine needs to call me, he will just have to go to a wall phone to call. I feel if he wants to be with his friends on the ship, he will just have to actually communicate the old way of doing it and plan ahead. Crazy if you ask me....

Kim~ Where are you in N. Cali? I guess I can look at the spread sheet.

TTYL my Bushwackers... :hippie: Tink

Hey all you March 5th cruisers!!!! I am mic.keyfans's son Kayle. I want to create a thread just for the kids on our cruise. I think this would be a fun way for the kids to meet up and discuss all the fun we will have on the Magic. This will be my second cruise and I have learned from the first that the whole cruising experiance is a lot better if you can get to know people before it actually starts. If you or your kids are interested have them make their own DISboards account and message me. I am looking forward to meeting all my fellow cruisers and the fun we will have on the Disney Magic. :)

hey im so excited for this cruise....around 50 days away...if only time travel was possible!!!!

I forgot a FUNNY dream I had last night! Although some could consider it a nightmare....

I dreamt that we showed up at the ship (which, for some reason wasn't the Disney ship... but anyway...) and my husband packed for me! But... all he packed was.... 3 shirts and a casual skirt! No bathing suit, no formal dress, and worst of all... NO SHOES! :scared1::scared1::scared1: (Yes, the no shoes part is scarier to me than the fact he forgot all the...ahem... unmentionables!) :lmao:

So you can see how I woke up in a cold sweat! :rotfl:

Anyway... just had to share. I'm sure that the subliminal message is to pack more lightly than I tend to (I'm an overpacker to be sure!), but still.... three shirts and one skirt... C'mon. Really? How's a girl supposed to survive a 7 day cruise with that! :confused3:rotfl:

Now I'm going to get back to work!
Ciao for now!!!

This made me really smile!:goodvibes

I just got back from a long business trip to DC where I was delayed for mechanical, forgot my stockings and remembered it at 3am in the hotel the morning of meeting (that was what I forgot to pack), got into the cab without my heels for my meeting on the way to the drug store to get stockings. So, it was like my husband packed my bag, but unfortunately I was my own worst enemy and couldn't even blame him. :rotfl:

:welcome:

To all the new families to the board. I am sure we are all going to have a great cruise!

I am starting to get ready for vacationitis, my illness before my trip where all I want to do is plan what needs to be packed.

Hi, all! I am Cyndi-Rella's other half! I have actually been a DISer since 2008, when we were planning a cruise, but were not able to make that cruise!!! :sad2:

She has been the primary planner for the cruise, THANK GOODNESS!!! Since this is our first cruise, I have been thankful that she and her friend (sstuke) have been taking care of all of the bookings, DIS board lurking and compiling info in a very "worn" notebook!::yes::

We are looking forward to meeting some of you and taking the information that we have learned here and really enjoying our first cruise. Thank you for all of your posts! It is appreciated! :worship:

See you all in 52 days!

Welcome.... We like to meet the "Other Halves" and the "Little Mice". I will tell my son about the thread. He already has an account. I bet you will be able to tell who he is based on his User Name.:lmao: I will catch you all soon. It is late. I just "woke up" and had not been on the boards all Thursday; so needed to check in...;) Guys do not think I am crazy, but my sleep cycle is. I have a crazy job and depending on my call schedule, I may turn in from 7PM until the nice phone rings and I have to get up or I will lay down and not need to make up and thus leaves me WIDE AWAKE at 3AM... I guess I will figure it out one day... Talk to you in True Day-light hours...:hippie:

Hello fellow cruisers. Just an FYI, I booked the trolley tour online and not only did I get a discount on the adult prices but kids are FREE!!! From what I remember it's a limited time deal and thought to let my fellow cruisers know!

Thanks! I'll see if our 10yr old son wants to check this out. I'm sure he'd like to meet some buddys before the trip. Especially if they are around 10 yrs old and like sports and/or video games!

He doesn't have a "dis" name yet... but I'm sure he'll think of something good. :goodvibes

"Cyndi-Rella finally let me post!"

HAHA!! That's fantastic - she "let" you post. Us control freak planners can be like that sometimes... :rotfl:

This made me really smile!:goodvibes

Glad to provide the chuckle!! Next time you're in DC for business (or pleasure!) let me know.... I can recommend some good places to eat.... or shop as the case may be... :rotfl:

Okay - that's my daily check in for today .... or perhaps you'll see me later....

Ciao for now. Johnna

Well we are back from the World and our half marathon. WE FINISHED!!!!!:banana: DH was happy he got his Donald medal even though we had to walk from 7 miles on due to his knee hurting. I think it was just his IT band getting tight from standing too much prior to the start and not a serious injury. After ice, rest and a massage at the Grand Floridian Spa, he was doing fine. We even spoke with Al Roker at the Spa!!!!! He was in the half too and finished right after us!!!!! Here is a picture of us during the race after we went through Cinderella's castle.

Bamfield, Post a picture of you and your family and we'll try to make connections with you at the BC before boarding the bus to the port!!!!

Johnna, What a NIGHTMARE!!!! :scared1: OMG, I'd hate to think what Russell would pack for me!

Tink, We need lots of practice being grandparents since our first grandbaby is due May 10th!!!!!! Of course, your kids might be a little to old for us to get much practice with.....:sad2:

:cheer2: WELCOME! :cheer2: TO ALL OUR NEW CRUISERS!!!!!

Thanks for the hot tip! This is the one we were looking at because I think you can get off and on? I think through Disney you have to stay on until the tour is done. I will look into this weekend. Always like a deal.

Congratulations on your half marathon run! :cheer2: As for the picture posting, you are going to laugh. I am photo inept. I have never been able to do the photobucket or whatever we are supposed to do now. My husband has a FB page and all my friends contact him. :rotfl: I will try to see if I can successfully get something posted through him.

Thanks for all of the :welcome: !

Do any of you that have previously been on a DCL do the fish extenders? I found a few great ones on Etsy. Thinking of buying them...

What deck is everyone on? I think we are on 5 (could be 6)....waiting for my parents to get back to me with the deck - but I remember when we booked it I looked and it looked to be a great view!

I am a little nervous  I have to admit about my son being on the ship while we are out and about. He is 4 - and has NO fear about anything....I just keep telling myself that Disney is a GREAT organization and that their personnel is probably super wonderful - even on the ship! Has anyone had anything but wonderful experiences with that staff that handle the kids?

How are the evening shows? Are they cheesy?

Is it worth bringing my laptop to check my email a few times a day? :surfweb:The last cruise we went on you had to buy a block of time and it ran so slow that my minutes got eaten within 2 days...

Well that's all for now.....
