March 4, 2007 Wonder - Anyone Else?

Try having the kids try all the summer stuff on without telling them why. This last week has been interesting. I think the 10 yr old is getting suspicious but the other 3 still don't have a clue.

Has anyone gotten an upgrade yet? I keep hearing about people getting upgrades and keep looking and hoping, but nothing yet.:confused3

My DD knows about the trip, but she is so non-suspicious that I could get away with that kind of thing.

I keep looking for an upgrade also and nothing yet. On the thread for the March 3rd cruise, the upgrades started happening about 4 weeks before the cruise, so I suspect if there are going to be any upgrades (and I would guess there will be, because Cat 12 is all sold out but the rest of the Cats still have openings) it would start happening this week.

Linda

Linda,

How do the Cat 10 and 11's look? We have 2 connecting Category 10's and would love an upgrade to connecting rooms with a view.

PaxtonsMom, what time is your Dolphin excursion. Ours is for 10:30 and because it isn't through DCL we have to find our own way to the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal. I'm pretty sure they still have water Taxi's but not positive. That way we wouldn't even have to enter Nassau through the Straw market.

They are still showing available the last time I looked - I think that was 2 days ago. I just go into disneycruise.com and put in like I am looking for a new reservation and see what is not available and so far just the cat 12's are sold out. I think they start moving from the cat 12's with 4 people first. I am new at this, so this information is just what I have read or heard from others who have been on this cruise. I have also heard moving connecting rooms to upgrades is harder (but not impossible). I would just get ahold of my travel agent or disney cruise and ask. If they tell you they don't do upgrades ask for a manager - that is not true.

Well, I have to go to my swimming lessons. I know how to swim (quite well), just getting in better condition for the cruise and adventures to come.

Hello everyone. Thanks Linda for waking us all up :thumbsup2. I agree ,the closer we get, the excitement as well as the work increases. The irony for me is my husband(the technology guy :surfweb: ) doesn't share all that excitement. He is wrapped up in his work 24/7 .I was so glad when I saw the rates for wireless on the ship. They might keep him away from his first love: computers .I'll have him all to myself :yay: .
But me and my daughters only do "cruise talk" these days.My morning conversation with them starts with ,"we'll do this on the cruise...." and at bedtime they say to me,"we want to take this.....".My 3 year old wants to take anything and everything (toys,colors,cups,plates,napkins...) disney with her .
Yes,I also read about tips for the cruise and so far have got the "over the door shoe holder"(but do we need it on a 4 day cruise?anyone)Yesterday we made a mickey and a minnie with paper plates to put on our doors and also plan to do the home depot paint chip name plates.
We are in a guarantee stateroom and so far haven't heard anything yet.I check the disney website at least once a day.Getting impatient now.
Don't get much time to post on this board,so am writnig everything today.Just started college(once a week),painted my bathroom, ordered furniture, kids activities,preschool....the list is endless.I guess everybody understands as we all are i the same boat. But the cruise will be a welcome break.Disney here we come :dance3: .

My husband is also really consumed with the business 24/7. So I ask him occassionally if he is excited and his comment is usually something like, "I would be if I wasn't so worried about the jobs." It is always like that. We will be buying the internet package - have to, it is our business and if we don't keep in touch, we don't make money. There are advantages to working for someone else, even though it is hard, you can leave the job behind (some).

I also bring it up to my daughter several times a day. She is excited, but I don't think as much as I am. She is really excited about being on the cruise on her birthday.

I bought an over-the-door shoe holder and plan on taking it; I would rather have it than be dissapointed that I didn't bring it. The only things I have left to get are a hanging toiletry bag and my swimsuit.

I haven't boughten a swimsuit for years (I have cheapo ones from Walmart, but no good one's). It is hard being a big girl and finding a swimsuit I would been seen in. Actually, it is more like finding a swimsuit that other people can see me in and not get sick.

It sounds like this trip will be a great break for you eagercruiser. Even though we will get the internet package, I am still excited that we will be out of cell phone range - something is better than nothing. It will be nice to actually sit through a show and/or dinner without a phone vibrating on us and then someone having to leave to take the call. We never talk on our phones in the show or restaurant, but we do take the call and go out to talk.

Have not received our luggage tags yet.

Our excursion is for 1:30 pm. We wanted the 10:30, but were not given a choice. When I called them to ask about it they said that the 10:30 was already full. Too bad for us, it would have been fun to go together.

While on the phone I did ask the lady about how much time to allow to get from the cruise ship to the PI Ferry Terminal and she said to take a water ferry and allow 15-20 minutes. I don't think the ride is that long, but she said that they wait for the ferry/taxi to fill up with people before leaving. She thought the cost would be $4 per person.

I can't believe that you're still able to keep this whole thing a secret from the kids. You must be a rock! ;)

Frazzledad, I also can't believe you can keep this from the kids.

Linda

Really Frazzledad.Hats off to you.I could never have kept this from my kids. How did you do it?????? Since how months have you been hiding it?

Linda,Doodlesmom,Frazzledad.Any ideas for dressing up the girls for the pirates party.Although my DDs loved Pirates of the Caribbean 2 I don't think they'll want to dress up like that. They are more into princess stuff.I just bought some glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces for them.
Checked our local Target and they don't have any pirates stuff.

Depending on how much you want to spend and travel with there are a couple of options. I haven't done this before, but I read up and research everything. Alot of people are doing t-shirts and jeans and they give out pirate bandannas on the ship. Try to avoid buying on the ship, it is expensive.

Ebay has the princess dresses from pirates of the carribean. Just go into search and put in pirate costumes. Ebay also has other pirate costumes and some of them are girls.

If you know how to sew and like to (I don't and I don't), you can always get a pattern and make your own.

Linda

Hi guys!!
We booked on Dec. 4 and have kept it from them since. It has been very tough as I have been home since October and I am around them alot more than usual. (Had neck surgery) This will actually be our big hurrah before I go back to work and although I love my kids dearly, IT IS TIME to go back.:lmao:
Linda is right. About all we are doing for Pirate Night is eye patches, bandanas and T Shirts.

Neck surgery and I complain about a broken toe.

I am soooo excited I can hardly contain myself. Work is really starting to get in the way of things. I can't believe we leave for our land portion in 23 days.

Neck surgery and I complain about a broken toe.

Oohhh.Linda & Frazzledad.I hope you both are feeling fine now. How'd it happen???

Linda,, it must be hard managing everything (work, packing, household) with the injury. Thanks for the advice on Pirates costumes.I don't plan to spend much plus lots of bidding on ebay.I was outbid a couple of times for the "Aurora costume".So I'll probably stick with jewellary, head bands and eye patches. And I can't sew.Not me.Did you find your swimming costume?

It is hard to control the wallet these days. The more I read these posts, the more ideas and hence more shopping.

Frazzledad your kids must have enjoyed having you home.My kids love it when my DH works from home.
Bye for now.Gotta drop my DD to school. :goodvibes

Thanks for the concern Eagercruiser. The first week was the hardest with walking. It is just the little toe, but I managed to hit it so that it stuck straight up and pulled all my other toes up except my big toe, leaving me with only my big toe to walk on. I managed though. It gave me a great excuse to go buy some great water shoes that my dr recommended, I swim 3 times a week and work out 5 times a week (surprisingly I am NOT in good shape) and I needed shoes to swim in to keep my toe stiff (it really hurt when it was flexed) and they also work great for riding the stationary bike and lifting weights.

Get this, I broke it on a suitcase I had out for the trip.

I got a cinderella costume off ebay and actually the one's at Walmart are prettier and the same price. If you have a Walmart close by you might look there for princess costumes. We have a great costume shop here and I am going to go there and check out pirate stuff.

I looked at ebay yesterday and their pirate stuff was getting a little cheaper. You have to check it out and look at the adult women's dresses that are going for about $100.00 (no I am not getting one - can't justify that), they are gorgeous. If I had of thought about it in time, I would have asked my mom to make my daughter and myself matching dresses like that, but she is getting older and slower, so I need to ask for those things about a year in advance. She is a great seamstress, just takes time now.

Well, it is my turn to go now and get my DD to school and go for my workout. I think I am just going to come back and go to bed, have a slight sore throat and I refuse to get sick.

Frazzledad, did you get a handicap pass? I was told you get to board first with one of those. Yes, I got one for a lousy toe, but hay, might as well.

Linda

Thanks eager. I have finally come to the realization that I am not 18 anymore and that the body can only handle so much punishment.:goodvibes

Really, it's an old sports injury from about 13yrs ago that I refused to get fixed. Well, I've been told (and I guess it's true) that certain injuries do not heal themselves, and after not being able to get out of bed for 2 days in October, figured it was time to do something about it. Everything is fine now, almost 100%, so I won't be needing the Handicap pass. Although, after me being home for 5 months, my wife might need one.:rolleyes1

Hi everyone! I'm still here!!! Sorry I haven't checked in lately. We are doing a major renovation to our house so things have been really crazy. I haven't even started packing (which, if you knew me, is unbelievable). Luckily most of my cruise clothes are still packed away together from our Thanksgiving cruise. I just have to try a few things on my 2 year old DS to make sure they still fit.
