March 4, 2007 Wonder - Anyone Else?

Who is Shirley?? Is she with the same company that advertises on this site? I ordered sand pails filled with goodies for the kids a few weeks ago. It was so easy and she was so accomodating. I wonder if its the same person.

I was actually logging on to say thank you for the well wishes and pixie dust. Avery is now fever free and getting better. It may have something to do with the bottle of Tylenol we've forced on her today but fever free nonetheless. (Just kidding.....we didn't give her that much. ;) ) Now if we can just get the rest of us from getting this little cold we'll be doing alright.

I never thought of the shirt idea. That would have been fun. I don't guess there is time for that now. How bout we post pictures so we can all figure out who we are meeting. Meeting at the pool before the party sounds like a great idea. If I knew what I was packing I could tell you what we'd be wearing. Seems like there is always something better to do than pack every night. Survivor and Grey's Anatomy were on tonight. I wonder why nothing gets accomplished on Thursdays. :lmao:

7 more days til we leave!!!! :tink:

Just rubbed it in that Survivor and Grey's were on tonight. I was busy with swimming lessons and then Girl Scouts, so I missed both of them. Thought about taping, but I really don't have time. I have also been putting off all the packing.

I was going to try to be fashionable, but I think if we are trying to meet others (and I don't want to post my pictures; one don't know how (can't be too hard, but really don't want to learn right now - pretty lazy - I know) and two I look bad, but even worse in pictures). So, with that being said, I think we will wear our Boise State University bright orange t-shirts with the green Mickey names tags. If you can't find that, then you don't want to find me.

Are we talking about meeting at the Goofy Pool before the drill? That does sound like a plan. If people know what they are wearing, mention that or gather with us in the orange t-shirts. Maybe that will work.

I am glad your DD is feeling better. I have a touch of a sore throat this evening, but I am thinking it is just too much clorine sucked in from swimming and then the frustration of 3 hours spent reconciling a credit card account. I personally think if you have to spend that much time reconciling a credit card there is too much money being spent  . I say this because it is our business partner's credit card.

Well, I am going to go to bed. Tommorrow is a long day, but then the weekend and I am only concentrating on packing :cheer2: Laundry is done :laundy: And cleaning is done. Shopping also done. Just confirming housesitter and packing.

So, do we need to schedule time to squeeze in these 2 shows on Thurs :happytv: ? I don't think I would get away with that, plus I really would like to see the fireworks at Epcot that night and I think that would be about the same time.

I will have our laptop with internet service. I can also update you the next time we see each other.

Linda

Funny you should mention that. My DH and I were watching "scenes from the next episode of Survivor". We both went, "ugh! We'll be in Epcot watching fireworks." I think I can let it go for a week. I doubt either of these shows and the fact that I'm missing them will cross my mind that entire week.

Goofy pool it is. We will meet you there. As soon as I get off my lazy butt and pack this weekend I'll let you know what we're wearing. I'll be sure to look for the orange shirts. :rotfl:

Everyone have a magical day.....I'll chat with you later. This time next week we'll be on our way to the Magic Kingdom to have breakfast with Pooh and Tigger. Whoo Hoo!!!

Hi everyone-

Sounds like we have lots of walking wounded out there. Best wishes that everyone and their kids are feeling well before vacation.

My kid has a knack of waiting until we're on vacation and THEN getting sick. We've spend lots of quality time in hotel rooms in a variety of places! I read somewhere on the DIS about people giving their kids Airborne before vacation to boost their immune system. I purchased a supply for all of us have the whole family is going to take the stuff from now until the cruise. Can't hurt anyway, right?

I went to Home Depot today and grabbed some alien green mickey paint chips. I'll try to fashion these into some kind of name tag.

doug44 was right, I did start a thread asking for advice about when and where we should hold our cruise meet. Several people responded with good ideas. It sounds like the most popular place that DIS people meet is in the Promenade Lounge on deck 3 (just past the atrium). They say this is good because there is plenty of seating, restrooms and a place to get drinks. Also it is inside so rain or whatever (not likely heat unless FL gets a real heat wave!) isn't a problem. I see that a couple of you are talking about meeting by the Goofy pool. I think that would be fine too, although some people have suggested that it gets pretty crowded up there by mid-afternoon. Makes no mind to me, I'm a go with the flow kind of gal. Just thougtht I would share what I had learned from some fellow DISers. What does everyone think?

As far a timing goes, typical groups seem to meet around 3pm. They say by that time everyone is settled, has eaten and is waiting around for the 4pm drill.

We're coming down home stretch here gang! :yay:

I think the Promenade Lounge sounds bettter than the Goofy Pool. Is everyone on board (ha, ha - bad pun) with the Promenade Lounge between 2:30 - 3:00? I don't mind the idea of starting out with a drink:drinking1 , I have heard the drinks of the day are awesome. My personal trainer is really worried about this trip.

We got quite a lot of ice last night and my DH managed to slip and fall. No damage done, just hit his head :rotfl: Really, no damage done, he is a little sore, but just some parts banged up.

We are all taking Airborne (even my DD - 7) and it seems to be really helping ward off the germs. We have been taking it for about a month now and take it before and after all our trips. This year we have been exposed to that really bad crud, the flu, strep and bronchitis and we all came down with a mild version of the crud for 2 days each. Everyone else who gets it seems to have it for 10 days minimum. Oh and my swim trainer also came down with the crud and starting taking Airborne and kicked it in a couple of days. I think it works. My advice (being that I feel I am experienced at Airborne now), don't get the grape for the kids - it is nasty tasting; just get the lime and break it in 1/2 for kids, give morning and night and put it in a tiny bit of water. Serve it when it is done fizzing, it is much easier to take when there is less of it and is not fizzing. It is actually better than most medicine out there, taste wise.

3 days until we leave for the land/cruise trip. Doodlesmommy that means 4 days for you guys :dance3:

Thanks for the tips about the Airborne. My brother-in-law takes it when he travels but this is our first time trying it. I did get the grape for my DD7, and she has been complaining when I've put it in front of her these past few days. I'll try your tip about breaking a lime one in half for her and see if she likes that better. And I'll also cut down on the water. The only way we got her to do it last night is to pretend the three of us (me, DH and DD) were competing on the Amazing Race. First one to drink and step on the mat in front of the kitchen sink won. We let DD win, so hopefully she'll want to "play" again tonight!

My DD looks at me like I am crazy when I try to get her to "play" games. Both my DH and DD give me that "ugh" everytime I have it out, but they take it no problems.

Try the grape yourself - it is nasty. Sometimes I just think my DD is whining and then I will try it and sure enough she is right.

Linda

Linda thanks for the tips on the airborne. I'll have to try that out. We are all feeling a lot better today. Dawn; you crack me up. As big of a fan of that show that I am I never thought to use that technique with the kids. How cool! Mine would totally fall for it. ;)

Mail has been stopped; my nails are done; going to get the alien green cards in just a few. The only thing left to do now is to pack. (No, I still haven't started.) I promised myself to get at least the kids' bags packed tonight. I'm sure I'll find another excuse not to do it until tomorrow. :goodvibes How am I going to be able to consentrate at work for three days next week??? We are expecting another dose of ice and snow tomorrow. UUGGH! I just checked the weather for Orlando. 70's & 80's! Whoo Hoo!

BTW, the meeting place with the drinks sounds great to me! I can't think of a better way to start our party.

I'm off to home depot to get my homework project complete so you guys can find us. :goodvibes

Michelle

We have used Airborne for some time. We put it in a little water (inch or so in glass) and let it desolve. then we pour in Hawian Punch once it desolves. Kids love it so its no trouble getting them to drink. They ussually don't even know its in there. Since they don't get Hawian Punch often, they see it as a treat.

The idea with Hawaain Punch or any juice is a great idea. I am going to stick with what I am doing now until it is refused altogether.

I am packed, but still have to do the nails and a little bit of this and that (charge the camcorder, make sure digital camera is o.k., etc). But mainly we are concentrating on getting DD's homework and book report finished up. My DH is getting close to completing his big building and just having a subcontractor on it and no employees while we are gone

Linda

Hey guys, just checking in. I think I'm on the tail end of this sickness, thank god. Things are getting crazy here. We've got about 1/2 our stuff packed and the kiddies still have no idea. We're going to tell them Friday when they get home from school. Should be priceless. The meet and greet sounds good. This time next week we will be in our room at the Country Inn and Suites. :cool2:

I'm packed, house cleaned and I am currently charging the electronics (2 portable DVD players, game boy, camcorder, digital camera, 2 cell phones). That is sad, I wonder what our parents did? Oh yeah, they didn't fly with kids (being that they had 4), they just drove us all over the country and drugged us with driamamine:lmao: and spent a lot of time saying "do you want me to pull over". Sounds like they were mean, but if you have to do that, what does that say about me :confused3 .

3 days until we are off. I sure hope this crazy weather doesn't affect us. Sounds like the midwest got hammered most recently. We are just cold and icey.

Linda

Pheww! All packed....finally! We even had room for an extra bag for all of the goodies we're going to buy. I'm charging all the electronics now and watching it snow. The stuffy noses and sore throats are on their way out the door. We picked up our alien green paint chips last night so I have the afternoon to make nametags. 3 days left to go......Yipee!

Is anyone decorating their cabin door? What are you putting on your door? Apparently, this is common since I see it on so many threads. I'm debating about whether to bother with it or not. I thought it might be something fun for the kids to do while we get settled. Fingers crossed they don't move our room. It looks like we've been upgraded. :yay:

Michelle

What I was scared of happened.I had GUESTS.And that also my dad's very good friends. So I had to spend the whole day cleaning (house was a mess)and cooking a proper lunch.Couldn't get away with pizza delivery this time.DH knew my situation and took them out just now to see the Indian side of NJ.Just have little time to sneak a peek here before I take my daughter to keyboard lessons. Will try to do some packing after the oscars.
So Promade Lounge it is.What time? Please confirm.I'l be there with the green mickey chip name tags.Linda ,I'll be on the look out for orange t-shirts.That's my identification point.Once I find you I'll eventually find everyone.

Doodlesmommy ,you are quick in packing.Did it in a day.Wow.

Not taking any Airborne.Testing our immune system this first time.

Good Luck to everyone whoever is leaving for the land thing early.
Wil see you on the 4th.

Pooja

From what I am hearing, meets seem to happen between 2:30 - 3:00. I guess it gives time to get on the boat, eat, and get settled and start exploring a little and time before the safety drill at 4:00. So, I will be there between 2:30 and 3:00. We are bringing our lifevests for the drill, so we don't have to run back to the cabin to get them.

I am decorating the door; some to make identifying it easier and mostly for my daughter's b-day (which is the 4th). I am also going to do a little in the room. It was actually turning out to be more expensive and harder to coordinate (plus this way I was in charge of the decorations - that anal thing again) to have someone else do it. I am doing princess stuff. I have heard a lot of people put magnets on the back of the Mickey paint chips and also print stuff off the computer to put on there. I am also putting a small dry erase board on the door (with magnets) for messages.

I am all packed, cleaned, 1 more homework assignment for my daughter to complete before we leave (she will actually only miss 5 days of school, because she is year round and goes on track break on March 6th). Most things charged. Now I am going to make my labels (my address, phone #, etc - in case anything leaves the room that needs to come back and labels for postcards we want to send). Then I need to make a list of everything packed, in case anything gets lost. This stuff will be done by the time Amazing Race is on tonight and I will be done. Just a body wrap tommorrow, measurements Tues (for a contest I am in) and toenails on Tues. night. :woohoo:

Linda

I am done with my list of things in my suitcases (1 going on carry on with me and 1 being left at home). This will not only help in case something gets lost, but I am going to mark off those things I didn't need at all, so I don't pack them for the next trip. I told my DH that after about 2-3 of these cruises, I will have us down to just a bag or two and that I wanted to make sure we kept doing these so I could prove that to him ;)

For those who don't know or have forgotten, don't forget to make copies of front and back of your credit cards, driver's license, passports, social security cards, health insurance cards, etc and any other important documents and put an extra in another bag and leave one with relative or at home where someone can access it. I had not been doing this and for some reason did it on my Christmas trip, lost my driver's license, had a copy of it and my passport and had no problems getting back on. Copies of credit cards, means you will have the number to call if you lose it or it is stolen and you will have the card number with that 3 digit security number.

Oh and take pictures of your children (the whole group actually) and have them with everyone in case of seperation, then you have a picture of everyone in your group. I have actually heard some people take a polaroid everyday of everyone and then you have recent with their current clothing. I don't have a polaroid, but may take on my camera phone and have my husband do the same.

And we are done with my DD's home work for the week.

Yes, we can all say it again - I am very anal.

Linda

Hi everyone-

Just wanted to say hi and wish everyone safe travels. I know that several of you are heading out soon. Enjoy your time at the parks. I love the feeling when you go through the gates of the Magic Kingdom and start down Main Street. I've been there five times in the past decade and still get a thrill each and every time.

Sounds like we've decided on meeting at the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3. Whoever is available, wander down between 2:30 and 3:00 and we can start our cruise off with our own little "bon voyage" party.

How lucky are we!?! :grouphug: This time next week we'll be well underway.

Dawn

My DD finally has the excitement fever (took long enough), now she is starting to announce the countdown days. 2 days to go :cool1:

I am soooo ready for this trip. Of course, right after I cleaned the house my DH spilled (a full cup) of coffee on my white carpet, he spilled sugar water (he is the cook) on the kitchen floor and my dog peed on my floor. Oh well, my concession for going on a great trip. Just clean it up. Although, I wasn't going to replace the carpet until we did our addition to the house; since I can't get that stain out, now my DH owes me the addition soon :thumbsup2 . He just doesn't realize (yet) that my DD and I have decided with the addition he needs to design in an enclosed swimming pool.

O.K., I better go, so I can do the "me" things before the trip. Ya hoo!

Linda
