Just to announce that as of Friday 15, at noon exactly I was given my last radiation and now I am very well on my way to fully recuperate into full old DISmom me. It was a very challenging last treatment week but is OVER and we are so happy. I know that God delivered a miracle in me and can't help but praise. So now I can get busy putting together our FE gifts See you all really soon!,,

The last cruise I did was my first fish extender participation. There ended up being about 75 cabins signed up and there was constant argument about whether to split the lists, how many to put in each group and when to cutoff permitting new people to sign up for the fish extenders. It was so bad, it made me second guess whether or not I'd sign up for it this time! You people all seem pretty calm so we're going to give it a try.

That being said, the last thing I want to do is start an argument but ---DO we have a cutoff date for people to sign up for the fish extender? Just trying to figure out when I'll be safe ordering some supplies.

Good question! I am in favor of a cutoff date so people can start planning their gifts. I PM'd a thread member who had offered to manage the exchange. Once I hear back from him, he or I will post more info.

As you can tell from my low number of posts, I'm not super active on these Boards. There may be others who don't think to check in here that often too. I saw quite a number of people on the roster who said they were interested in participating in the fish extender. Are you going to consider those people as "yeses" in your poll, just in case they don't see it to vote on it?

I'll get working on setting up a fresh Google doc with the FEE info as I have it now. We will communicate more details once we come to a consensus on things like a cut off date for joining the FEE and the number involved.

I will relate my own experience from my last cruise, and my first FEE.

I joined DIS last year before our first Disney Cruise. I had no idea what in the world people were talking about when they said FEE. I searched the board and was indoctrinated into the world of Fish Extenders and door magnets. It soon swallowed me up and I particularly became obsessed with door magnets. Our cabin door was practically filled from port to starboard and bow to aft with magnets.
I ordered a Fish extender with our name on it and printed all of my own magnets. I was the one that made all the FEE gifts.
For me, it was a fun way to get amped up for the cruise. It helped pass the days watching the cruise countdown clock slowly tick down to 0.
My son and I had a blast going to each of the cabins on our FEE. We split our FEE into 4 groups, as we had 41 total cabins participating. We had 16 cabins in our group. There were 12-16 in each group. Some cabins opted to participate in more than one group, for me, that would have been too many.
We gave all of our gifts in one session, but some opt to do it over several days.
I made most of our gifts. I made personalized door magnets for each member in our group. I live near a casino, so I gave a 1$ chip to all the men. I also made personalized door hangers for each cabin in our group.
Some things we got in return were bottle cap magnets, KTTW card holders, phone cases, candy, pirate night stuff.
Really, there are no rules to what to give. It's what you can afford in both time and money.

It was very fun and looking for every cabin helped us explore the ship.

I've not heard back from Ivy yet on either the cut off date or number of cabins, but here is what I thought.

I propose a cut off date of Jan 31st. Right now we are at 18 cabins, which IMHO is about as many as we want in one group. We could even split it into 2 groups if we get more willing to sign up. This number is from replies in the thread and not just the ones that have voted in the poll. With having several small groups rather than one huge one, it gives a bit more felxibilaty. Some may be more comfortable with the small number, as it is less to pack and make. Others may love to make things and want to give things to all cabins, and that is still their option with the smaller groups.

Nothing is set in stone and I'd love to have other's feedback.

Thanks for doing this. I think 1/31 is a good cutoff date. I think 18 is a nice group size so I vote not to split unless we get a ton of new signups in the next month.

We are really exicted about the FE. For some reason we are not able to vote on the poll. I have already signed us up on the roster. I need to remove our youngest daughter Quinn. My mom has offered to keep her for us. We took her up on the offer. She will only be 20 months. We found out in May that she had a metabolic disorder, and she has been in the hospital twice since May. We decided not to risk it with her. I have thought about personalizing one of our gifts with last names. That currently isn't on our roster. Not sure if people want to share this info or not. If not, I will go another direction with it, not a big deal.

Are most of us on the facebook page?

Thanks Jeff -- I appreciate this! For some reason I can't edit this either, however it may have something to do with the fact that my google docs show up in German and I have no idea what I am doing in German

If someone could edit us our cabins, I would appreciate it. We are 7634 - my mom, Sue, is room 7636, but it will just be myself (Amy) and the kids (Alex and Tatiana) in the FEE.

If it gets past 18, I will be favor of splitting. We had over 30 in my last FEE and split into 3 groups - each about 10-11 families and that was PLENTY.
