I'm looking into a hotel by the port and thinking of staying at the Cocoa Beach Suite hotel as the price is decent for our large family (6 traveling in our group). Anyone have any recs? I booked already on hotels.com but I have free cancellation so I'm still open!

We looked at hotels near the port, but decided to stay in Orlando the night before the cruise instead. I did notice that the Fairfield Inn in Titusville looked newly reburfished and had some good reviews. They also offer 40% off port parking to their guests.

I just booked the Country Inn and Suites in Cape Canaveral for the night prior to the cruise. We stayed there before our last cruise as well and had a good experience -- nice pool, good rooms, breakfast and fitness room for the morning, and especially shuttle/parking for the cruise. I was able to get a great military rate, then can add parking/shuttle for $40 (I think you can add that to any rate they have). Much cheaper than parking at the port, and the shuttle was waiting for us last time when we were off the ship.

is it 75 days out for first time cruisers? would that be around jan 15th? is that when we book excursions? I thought about giving my girls parasailing trip gifts for Christmas but what if we don't get in?

I'm not sure of the exact dates when you can book excursions -- I should find out and put it in my calendar. But, if you don't get something at first, keep trying as spots open up, esp once you are on board. I think parasailing would be a blast!

Hi folks! This will be our first cruise ever, and we are so excited. It will be my wife and I, our 19yr old daughter, and 10yr old son. We are certainly counting down the days!

Welcome aboard! My youngest DS is 11 -- I think he's almost as excited about the cruise as I am.

Merry Christmas all! We had our big family meal last night, then brunch this morning, so I've had the afternoon to hang around, surf the web, and think about the cruise. We have our check in in just a few days! Looking around on the Disney cruise site, it looks like pirate night is our Castaway Cay day! I'm trying to figure out our Palo night. Maybe go on Pirate Night? We have early seating, so we could go up to the dining room w the boys early so they won't miss it (we wouldn't eat), then go to Palo later that night.

DS11 is obsessed with ordering room service. Considering the lack of work he does around here, it's really like he has room service already!

Merry Christmas! Hard to believe our cruise is right around the corner :). We're hoping to book Palo also, and was thinking of pirate night since I think I read the reviews for the food that night is not as good as other nights.

Santa brought our boys some Disney gift cards so they can get a souvenir onboard. My kids are still pretty young so they didn't really get what a gift card is, but I'm sure they'll appreciate it on the cruise.

Hope everyone is doing well and welcome to bsamps!

We will be cruising with you as well. We will be a party of about 20, and my son and future daughter law will be getting married at Castaway key. This will be our 7th DCL cruise, and our first on this ship.

Also, the newly weds will be taking a back to back, as part of their honeymoon.

We will be easy to recognize, 2 stressed out mothers, along with a stressed out bride and groom. We fathers are planning to hide away in various lounges, along with a few uncles.:santa:

What a wonderful reason to cruise! How exciting to get married on Castaway Cay!

Hi!!! First time cruisers with a DD (4) and DS (2). We are so excited!!!

Welcome! We have two little ones too--mine are 5 and the other is turning 3 on the cruise. Now that Christmas is over I feel like I can finally start planning our cruise (I'm thinking of making family shirts and some magnets for our door--not sure if DH will go for the shirt though).

I really wanted to do fish extenders and I was wondering if anyone has made a page on it????????? :confused3:earsgirl:

Just curious...... Thanks

I guess we are cutting it kinda close to start the Fish Extenders. How about if I start organizing? It's my first DIsney cruise so I've never done this before so feel free to chime in and give input.

I'll generate a list and email it to everyone. What should the cutoff date be? Should we have a max number of cabins?

Please PM me the following info:
Cabin number
First name of those traveling in your group (some people like to personalize their gifts)
Ages and gender of kids
Any food allergies (please specify)
Is alcohol ok for the adults?
Email address to send the list to

Deliveries should be completed before the luggage has to be placed out on the last night so everyone has time to pack.

Am I missing anything?
Depending on the cutoff date, I can send out a preliminary list so we can get started (I'm gonna try my hand out crafting something :)

Our family would like to join the fish extender group. :) However, they won't let me pm you until I have ten posts- I have three. :) (not a big dis board chatter) LOL!!! What should I do to get you our info?
