I'm in the same boat! I need 10 more posts to be able to private message. :)

LOL, if you want and feel comfortable, feel free to leave your info in a post or on our Facebook group. Otherwuse, I say just post 10 times in this thread to get your count. I'm sure the others won't mind :)

Maybe I'll ask some questions so at least you can feel it's somewhat related to our cruise:

1) What are you looking the most forward to on the cruise?
2) Any good book recommendations for vacation reading?
3) are you booking an excursion in Nassau?

Hello to everyone!
We just had to switch our vacation from Dec. 2014 to April! It has been a crazy morning of researching and booking (and paying :) ) We did our first cruise December 2012 and LOVED it! We hope to participate in the FE exchange. And I do not belong to facebook, so I can't chat there. Any opinions on Palo? dinner? lunch?

1) What are you looking the most forward to on the cruise?
2) Any good book recommendations for vacation reading?
3) are you booking an excursion in Nassau?

I have enough messages to PM, but wanted to start off the questions!
1 - Relaxation and some sun!

2- I need some good recommendations! I am recommending to friends "Fault in Our Stars," by John Green, that might be a young adult book but is just fantastic. But it's a little (a lot!) sad in places, so maybe not a great cruise read. During our last cruise, I brought along Life of Pi, which is so NOT a cruise read!

3- As of now, no, going to stay on board.

One of the things I would like to do (hopefully on Nassau day or the day at sea) is one of the mixology classes. They are something like $15, and you get samples of the drinks you make. DH is not a drinker, so I'm hoping to find a friend here who is interested. You can't book these until you get on board, but I've seen other DIS groups get together and book a private one. Anyone interested? I'm willing to research that and perhaps coordinate with Disney if we have a group.

1) What are you looking the most forward to on the cruise?
Reading in the rain Forrest room and eating in restaurants (I have bothersome but not deadly food allergies - so eating out is a real treat!)

2) Any good book recommendations for vacation reading?
I am thinking of saving Cross and Burn by Val Mcdermid - got it for Christmas and I read her last one on my last cruise.

3) are you booking an excursion in Nassau?
No, I think we will Rain Forrest that day.

Apsychmommy - thanks for posting the questions!

1) What are you looking the most forward to on the cruise?
Experiencing the joy of the Disney magic through my kids! I can't wait to see it all through their eyes!

2) Any good book recommendations for vacation reading?
I love anything by Priscilla Shirer or Kelly Minter {non-fiction/Christian} With 2 little ones... most of my reading comes from my women's Bible study group. HA! Probably won't be getting much reading done on the cruise with my family. =)

3) Are you booking an excursion in Nassau?
I'm not sure yet. I can't book any excursions until January 15th. I was thinking about taking the kids to the atlantis, but I'm not sure. I have heard that it would be a great time to enjoy the pools on board {and probably easier with 2 kids under 5}.

I saw these posted on another forum.

"Pack a day bag for when you first arrive on the ship. You won't see your luggage for a few hours so pack swim suits, medication, and anything you'll need until your luggage arrives.

Bring sports bottles/drink bottles because although there are free drinks on the pool deck, there are only small cups provided.

If you get a chance, head over to the adult beach on Castaway Cay. It's very peaceful. It may be too late to book, but the private cabanas are worth every penny! And on the last night of the cruise, bring along your tip envelopes to dinner. You can hand them directly to the servers. Have fun!"

Anyone have any other good tips?

I prob should answer my own questions--I'm getting some good book ideas--I think I'm going to download the Fault in our Stars book since I have also heard some of my friends recommend it.

1) I'm looking forward to watching my kids visit the characters and tasting all the yummy food! I'm thinking of booking Palo for brunch but I don't know if there will be any reservations left since I can't check in for a few more weeks though.

2). I'm thinking of also downloading the Steve Jobs biography. It's my book club's selection a few months from now, but I heard its long so why not get a head start?

3) We are thinking of doing the glass bottom boat tour if it's not booked up yet. My kids are young and by soon to be 3 year old still takes a nap so we prob won't be away from the ship too long.

I already several PMs and Facebook messages of FE participants so I think this is going to be fun!

Mougfamlovesdis, thanks for the tips!

Another tip that I got from this board is to bring a pillowcase (or anything else you want autographed) to take to guest services to have the characters autograph. It'll make a great souvenir for my boys.

I've seen that tip too and was thinking of doing this for our nieces. I read that you should send sharpies or laundry pens (which they will return) and chocolate (which they will not return :) ).

Thanks for organizing the FE exchange - we loved doing it on our last cruise, it was only about 7 cabins, but that meant we did gifts all 3 days! super fun!

Thanks! and thank you so much for organizing everything!

Can someone explain exactly how it works? Do we bring gifts for one particular cabin for every day or several gifts for different cabins for the whole week? I just wasn't sure how many gifts to expect to be purchasing! =)

Here's a really long thread about Fish Extenders in general http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

It's my first time participating, but from what I gather I'll be generating a list and emailing it with all the cabin details to everyone participating. We bring a gift for each cabin (or each individual if you prefer to do specific gifts based on age/gender, etc.) and you deliver it sometime before the cruise. We have 7 cabins so far and I'm sure others will join in.

Should we cap it at 15?

Thanks so much for organizing! I will check it out! Since I have never done it, I'm not sure what # works best. I just sent you a pm with our info. I hope you got it. :)

1. If you do a pillowcase for the characters to sign, buy fabric pens like Stained Sharpies as they will keep their color better when washed and use bold colors as they show up better.

2. Bring safety pins and clothes pins as you never know when you might need them.

3. Have yourself and your children in bathing suits under their clothes or just on when you get onboard. If you have an early arrival time, you can ride the Aquaduck over and over before lunch. We did this on our last cruise and rode it 3 or 4 times in a row within 20 to 30 minutes.

I guess that is it for now. If any first timers have questions, ask on facebook and I am sure one of us will be able to figure out an answer, especially when it gets time to start packing.

If you are getting items signed, I highly recommend a photo mat! We did that 2 of our 3 previous cruises and have pics from the cruises on the hall outside DSs room. They have outgrown the pillowcases (I had their names and fav characters embroidered on them), but we stop and look at those pictures almost daily. This time, I just bought a solid vinylmickey for characters to sign for their room (got the suggestion on these boards), but will do the photo mat again.

Beach cabanas were gone went I booked last night (90 days out, opening booking day for CC members). Lots of Palo openings -- and if you can't get one in advance, go when you get on board. We were able to get spots twice in the past on board for the day we wanted.

Capping at some point sounds good - whatever you think will work.
So excited now that we are on this cruise instead of having to wait till December!

We are thinking of doing Palo this time for brunch or dinner...has anyone with food allergies done Palo?
