March 30, 2013 - Wonder 5 night Western Caribbean Cruise

oh and our hometown is Braselton, GA

I've added you. Given today's weather here in ATL, My mind is on CC...

To answer an earlier question: We are planning to try Chankanaab this time around on Cozumel, and Palo Brunch.

We've done the ruins (tough with a stroller) on past trips renting a car on our own. That was a blast. Went all over the island then Paradise Beach. ..... My wife was a bit freaked by a guy riding a bike around holding a huge dead iguana. I figured it was lunch. Skip the ruins on the other side of the island. There's really nothing there IMHO. Tulum is fascinating. Not for a younger crowd except the lizard watching....

thank you!! and you are right this weather REALLY makes me want to cruise away :)

I know it's not Michigan...but dreary rainy days keep the spirit down. Couple that with most everyone being sick makes me just want to book another cruise. Yuck!

We are still researching how to get from FLL to our hotel in Miami. Just an FYI, we are staying at Marriott biscayne bay. They have a shuttle to port and a new publix within walking distance for any needed supplies.

My husband pirate: and I :beach: will be on this cruise. This will be our first DC, as well as our first ever cruise. We will also be traveling with another family. We are VERY excited!

Welcome! Look like lots of Michiganders on this cruise :) I have to ask since you say northern Michigan, are you a Yupper? Or just top of the mitten? We are headed to Boyne for the first time in a few weeks to take our girls skiing. We moved to Michigan two years ago so I'm still learning my way around the state.

I know there's a FE started (I'm lame and not participating, sorry! The thought of putting it all together is a bit overwhelming), but does anyone want to do a Meet & Greet on Day One? Maybe on the Secret Aft deck on Deck 7? Or in the Atrium? Just a quick hello so we can put faces to names. It was nice on our first cruise to see fellow DISers around the ship and get to know a few folks.

Welcome aboard! If you have any questions ask away...if you have any interest in joining the FE group just let me know....

I'm good with that. We did this on the last cruise in the promenade area. Somewhat busy in there....

We are interested. My wife has a concern if it grows too large. We were part of a 30+ family FE on a previous cruise and it was overwhelming. Assuming it stays around 10-15 count us in.

No we are not Yuppers. We are about an hour south of Boyne. You will love skiing at Boyne! Have a great time!

I've been trying to read all the information I can about the FE. I do have a few questions about them. Do you give something to each person every day or do you just give them something once during the cruise? I noticed that someone posted pictures of some of their gifts they got. It a picture there was some animal crackers in a cute package that some one made. Would you be allowed to bring something like that on the cruise? I thought I read some where that you couldn't bring your own food on the ship. Thanks for your help!!!:tilt:

FE info: you can send a box of FE goodies to the ship via courier to save on luggage fees. I sent myself a box for Transatlantic to the Magic it was in my room upon arrival :)

Usually it's one item per family per cruise, not each day. Some give one item per family member, some like to give something to the little one's in addition to the family gift. Short answer, there is no wrong option! Regarding food...I'm not the expert here as you will receive one explanation for what is on the DCL site and then another for what people have gotten by with. I usually play by the rule that if it's packaged and in your bags you are probably fine. Homemade goods may be flagged at security....

no worries. If it does become a larger group we can divide into 2 groups if needed....

Has anyone heard anything about the Adventure Park shore excursion? We would really like to do the ruins but my 17-year old daughter gets motion sickness and I don't think that she would survive the boat ride. We have done the dolphin encounter and loved it. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!
