Wow - thanks for the warm replies! :goodvibes

Rebecca - we live in Elk Grove - small world. WISH we could live in SLO...

We are so looking forward to this cruise - and of course meeting all of you. Did WDW (4 days) and DCL (3 days) a year ago, and found the cruise so much fun we decided to skip the land portion this year and just hit the water for the full week.

Question: Last year on the short cruise there was a semi-formal nite but not a "formal" nite. So... how dressy is formal? Do I need to drag along a bejeweled ballgown princess: (as IF I own one!) or will short-but-dressy do?

-Ellen :moped: (aka Scooter Mama)

Welcome!!! You will LOVE the 7 night cruise!!! Formal night will vary greatly for each family. For our last cruise, I wore a "little black dress" and the cruise before I wore a long linen cream colored dress (something you'd wear to a wedding maybe?). That is the dress I'm going to wear this time too. DH is wearing a suit and tie - his court "uniform" when he isn't wearing his actual uniform ::cop:
But it really runs the gamut from very formal ballgowns to very casual. Short but dressy will fit in with no problems! :thumbsup2

Stacy (and DH Ken, DD13 Morgan, and DD1 Julianne)

We actually live in Santa Maria, about 30 miles south of SLO

Rebecca: DH and I got married right near Santa Maria (nearly 15 years ago - yikes!), in Los Alamos at the Union Hotel. Is it still there? Crazy place. And glad to hear the "little black dress" will suffice. My ballgowns princess: are all at the cleaners....

Alanapapa: Thanks to you too for your welcoming words. :earsboy: We fly into Orlando Friday nite, then stay overnite there and head back to the airport in the AM to catch a Disney shuttle over to the port. So, no Grills dinner for us. Boo-hoo!:sad2:

Stacy: Thanks for the attire info - good to know there are lots of options. Hmmm... maybe this is a good excuse to go shopping tomorrow?????!!!!:moped:

Great, right now it is our 5, Mark & Johnna's 5, Shirley from "The Perfect Gift" with her husband Norm, and Brenda's 4 (hopefully). How many in your extended group?

One week from tonight, can't wait.

Math - not my strongest subject but I'll try ;)
Let's see - we've got 7 sailing plus DH's family - at least 5 more.
So at least 12 dining at Grills. :scared1:

:Welcome: Ellen and Family as I said to Brenda, "The More The Merrier".
Are you guys early or late dining? Will you be able to make it to Grills on Friday or do we have to wait until Saturday at Diversions to meet you?
Uh oh! Clarification needed! Is it the Promenade Lounge or Diversions for the official 2:30 Dis Meet? I would hate to show up at the wrong place :upsidedow

I'm pretty sure it is still there. I haven't been to Los Alamos in years. We just pass it by it on our way to LA every few months.
We also got married in '92 (July 25th) at the Shore Cliff in Shell Beach. Are you from this area originally?

Sorry, forgot to say we are late dining. Coming from CA, early dining at dinner would be 3:00 stomach-time. Not to mention, what, 4:00AM stomach-time for breakfasts? Ug. What about you all? I hear late dining isn't the best option as far as kids' activities planned for the evening, but oh well, it seemed to work out for us last year ok.

And... I cannot figure out for the life of me how to post a photo on here. Any words of wisdom for the computer-impaired? :moped:

We are early dining, again, the early the better, the more the merrier.:lmao:

As to the pictures, they have to be someplace on the web (photobucket, yahoo, aol, etc) and I think you have to have a minimum number of posts.
I will send you a PM with an idea. Hit the reply button on it to respond.

Apparently I must have just 1 more post before your suggestion will work, so here it is. :) The joys of being a newbie!

We are doing late dining too. DD1 may not like it, but it suits the rest of us perfect! Plenty of food options for snacking before dinner if need be too!

Please check in, drive safe. Any chance of posting while on the road? Maybe even starting a "Live Trip Report" thread a week before cruising?

Not likely that I will be able to start a "Live Trip Report", although it is a great idea! Quite frankly, I would be WAY to tempted to do some work and check the office email :scared1: if I'm near a computer...but one never knows...:confused3 Talk to you all later!

My Mom asked me today if we are bringing umbrellas and raincoats> I hadn't really thought much about it. :confused3 What do people think?

O.K. Here I am ...I'm Back!!!!! these last couple of days have been CRAZY!!!!

First of all...Welcome:welcome: to Ellen Drew and family!!!!! We, like you are taking our 2nd cruise as well..the first was just a 3 day last March, first we did DIsney World and not knowing what to expect on the DIsney Cruise, we opted for the 3 day....turns out the cruise was way too much fun, and way too short!!!! SO we are just doing the cruise this time :thumbsup2 We will be flying into Florida one week from today!!!! Hopefully by this time next Friday, we will have meet some of our fellow Diser's:cool1: Can't Wait!!!!!!

GDUL & Michaels Mom...Enjoy your week at Disney, while you guys are off enjoying yourselves...we are all going to be trying to figure out what we are going to put in our suitcases:laughing: I will say a prayer for you and your families to have a safe journey:) we will look forward to meeting you onboard....

As far as Formal Night....I ordered a dress from Coldwater Creek, it is a black dress w/ a rhinestone jacket...we went ahead and rented a tux for Ron..mostly because we didn't want to pack his suit..I got lucky w/ the girls dresses, found them each a silver halter dress (at different places:) ) and they were both even on sale :thumbsup2

Ellen Drew..we have early seating, and are actually going to be seated w/ the Alanappa and Caropooh family, for dinner everynight, we are looking forward to it:thumbsup2 ....just hoping that they don't mind if I help myself to a small sampling of their dinner each night:rotfl: :rotfl: but shhhh:ssst: don't tell them..I don't want to scare them away, before we actually meet:laughing:

Gosh, can you belive it...one more week and away we go....Sailing that is!!!!!
I can't tell you how excited I am about meeting everyone. We just have to hope and pray for good traveling weather, and safe journeys for ALL!!!!!

Happy weekend to everyone!!! And we all know what we will be doing next weekend!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Brenda

Oh...I almost forgot..we finally got our cruise docs today!!!!! I really need to take time and get us registered online...have any of you done this yet???? I'm sure it would be less hassle to do this before hand:confused3

As long as you don't mind Kathryn sampling yor meals, we don't mind you sampling ours! As Andrew warned you, she is real big on the, 'mmmmm, that looks go, may I have some' thing!
We have already done the online registering for all 5 of us. It was so easy to do and will save lots of hassle at the port.
See you in a week!

My Mom asked me today if we are bringing umbrellas and raincoats> I hadn't really thought much about it. :confused3 What do people think?

I wasn't planning on bringing umbrellas and raincoats...figured we'd probably stay inside if it was raining. But we used to have these fold-up rain poncho thingys that wouldn't take up too much room...might take those if I find them.

I'm in the midst of "don't pack too much like you did last time" right now! I think I have too many complete outfits for the kids (one for each day)...and I remember from last time that sometimes they only wore something for a few hours in between pool time and dinner time...and could easily wear that outfit again. I know I repacked a bunch of untouched outfits last time...but then I argue with myself...what if they spill? OMG...I think I'm really going crazy now! Help!

look at Dollar Tree, if you have them. I know when we went to WDW in '05, we got 2packs for a dollar each. Never had to use them , but we carried them with us every day.
