March 27, 2010 - Spring Break with Mickey on the Magic!

For the FE, is it just one gift per day?

Do you mean giving or getting????
Giving:
It is my understanding from reading and the one cruise we did that
you can give either one gift per cabin;
or one gift for adult another for children;
or one per adult/ one per child

But you only need to give one thing...unless you want to do more.

Recieving:

Everyone delivers their stuff when they want, unless the group decides to assign days, so that everyone gets something everyday.

This is only my second cruise so if any of my information is incorrect, feel free to correct, or change!!

You are exactly right! Only one gift per cabin (that's one for the entire week, not one each day) is required to participate. Anything more is completely up to the individual. And the gift/gifts don't need to be anything fancy. The FE exchange is more about the fun of giving and getting little surprises than the expectation of some fancy or expensive gift.

Since we are close, do we want to try to have the families meet either in the terminal or on the boat? I noticed that a bunch of us are in the same area of Deck 2 ...

Since there are 12 of us participating in the FE, IMHO I think we should do 1 per day, a few days would have two families delivering, but then you have something to look forward to each day.... just a thought. :woohoo:

I think the cut off sounds good. If a few new cruisers join later we will just pick up a few extras. I agree it would be good to each take a different day so there is something there everyday, but it doesn't matter to me. A group of 12 is a good size too. We are really getting excited.

I was wondering if we were going to meet up too? I think meeting on the boat is easier as everyone will be getting to the port at different times.

Everyone seems ok with a Feb. 28 FE cutoff, so that's what we'll do. Please let me know by then if you decide to join the exchange. We will leave a little wiggle room for anyone who finds us in March and wants to join.

There is a family group who joined the FE exchange but hasn't gotten back to me with cabin numbers, nor have they posted on the thread lately. To make sure our list is accurate: SoThisIsLove/Nemo’s lucky fin/Tink'n About Disney/Magic Carpet Rider - Would one of you please post a quick note or send me a PM to let me know if you're still planning to participate? Thanks!

I also agree that we should assign delivery days so there's always something to find in the FE. We should probably leave out the 1st day (don't know when the luggage will arrive) and the last full day (people will be trying to pack), so that would leave at most 5 days to cover. Should we just do it on the sea days or also on the port days? There's no set delivery times so you could do it whenever fits your schedule, but is delivering on port days too hectic? If anyone has preferences as to when they would or would not like to do their delivery, let me know and I'll work up a schedule by mid-March.

I'll be happy to meet wherever/whenever someone wants to set up a meet. We are planning to be on the first bus from MCO to the port, so the terminal would work for us. Last cruise we met on deck 10 at the Sailaway Party; that was a little chaotic and I don't recommend it. I"ve read that other groups met in the Promenade Lounge.

We are driving straight through from NY on Friday, so I have no idea when we will be at the port. Maybe meet on Sunday? or after the sail away party, but that might interfere with dinner....

Hi All!

Cut off date, rotation on the 5 days, etc. all sounds good to me. If airfare does not drop SOON, we will be driving down from VA too so not exactly sure when we will get to the port either. Sure hoping it drops to fly out on Friday and stay one night at AKL instead of driving all that way with my 21 month old grandson but whatever it takes to get on the ship!! We are celebrating our 30th anniversary so we sure don't plan on letting anything stop us!

Assigning days sounds good to me. I know people are questioning port days, I can volunteer to do the day we are in St. Thomas. DH has a massage booked at 8am so we will not be rushing off the ship. It would give the kids and I something to do!! Just a thought! You can really put me anywhere!!

Less then 6 weeks!!!:banana::banana:

:love:Happy Valentines Day!!:love:

Hi i am on to say sorryyyyyyyyyyyyyy to my mom because i was mean by saying her fish extendor looked boring but,

now that the finished product is done i think it looks great, ;) and is not one bit boring :rotfl:

love you mom!!!!!! :hug::bride::love: :goodvibes :flower3:princess:

For all of our past cruise meets we have always used the Promenade Lounge, usually before the lifeboat drill. A lot of times people also set a meet time in the terminal before boarding for people that get there early.

Hi Everyone......

Sorry I've been MIA but life has been hectic. After many months of house showings we are finally going to contract to sell our co-op and we have been trying to pack up little by little. Looks like we may close the week before the cruise.....great timing huh?...lol......

My family and I (SoThisIsLove, Nemo's Lucky Fin, Magic Carpet Rider and Tink'n About Disney) are looking forward to meeting everyone and participating in our first fish exchange! I can't believe the cruise is next month already! :cloud9:I also just looked at my ressie and realized that I finally got a room assignment.....with a small upgrade! We booked at cat 12 and got an 11 but we are excited that DCL kept all of our rooms together :cool1:....although I was secretly hoping for an upgrade to a split bath....but any cabin on the ship is better then being in my livingroom that week...lol. We also had one change in ressie.....my mother in law (Tink'n About Disney) and my sister (Magic Carpet Rider) are now sharing a cabin....when we first booked the only way a cat 12 was available was as a single and believe it or not the cat 12 with the single supp was cheaper then the cat 11 double....but as we were going to final payment there was a cancellation and they were able to combine their rooms to one.....I hope its not a problem but they both wanted to participate in the FE exchange as separate parties and both leave gifts for everyone.....is everyone ok with that? Our staterooms are as follows:
SoThisIsLove--Heather, Jim, and Lilyana (2)--#6643
Nemo's Lucky Fin--Mary and Ed--#6641
Magic Carpet Rider--Faith #6639
Tink'n About Disney--Karin #6639

Also on a side note, my daughter is turning 3 during our vacation and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the stateroom celebration package with a cake and decorations?? Is it worth the $49 or should I just bring a few things from a local party store and do it myself. DCL is going to have a small birthday cake for her in the dining room and something special in the Oceanears club....any opinions or experience???

My son is having a birthday while on the ship also. If you ask your server they will bring you a cake for free. Not sure the decorations are worth the money. I was thinking of having a Basket by Shirley delivered to the ship. There is a thread on here with pictures and she can customize it to what you want.

Glad you got your room assignments!! Looking forward to the FE's!!

Welcome back, SoThisIsLove! I'm glad you're still cruising with us. :goodvibes No problem with both MIL and sister participating in the FE exchange separately from the same cabin. Let me know if any of you have any special requests about which days you would or would not like to do the deliveries.

IMHO, no, the birthday package isn't worth the $49. I did it in 2008 for my husband's birthday, mainly because I wanted to surprise him and I couldn't figure out how to decorate the room myself without him being there. That won't be a problem with a 3 year old. The decorations were cute, but you can get similar Disney-themed stuff from the party store, and while the cake was good, we never finished it because of all the other food on board (including the cake the servers brought us at dinner)! Maryrn11168's suggestion of a basket from Shirley is a really good one - those look great.

Good luck with the home sale!

I am also celebrating my birthday on the ship. I am making a door sign that is Birthday I will post it when I get done with it. I am really ready for this cruise. For those that this is the first time doing a FE, we bring zip ties to secure our FE to our fish. Its a thought since sometimes things go missing. I am willing to deliver on a port day too. We have excursions planned but can deliver after we get back on the boat or before we leave.

Another 4 inches of snow today.....38 days and counting....

and now it is all icing up over night!! I have had enough of winter!! Come on Spring...at least Spring Break!!! :cool1::cool1:

Is anyone doing any excursions??? We have nothing booked....I figure we will see how it goes. Nothing is jumping out as a "must do". Any suggestions??? We wanted to do the stingray adventure on Castaway Cay there is no time to accomodate the size of our family, so I was going to see if we can book it on board.

We rented a car to tour St. Martin on our own, this is how we like to travel, and it was cheep, $64 dollars for the day. Taxi would have cost about the same for four of us, and now we can do what we want, when we want.

Doing a dis excusion at St. Thomas, the catamaran with snorkle one. There is less time at this stop, so we rather do a dis one and guarantee we make it back to the ship.

Kids want to parasail on CC, so I booked that, but might cancel, depending on how things go.
