March 26, 2011 - Eastern Caribbean Magic and FE Exchange!

As far as renting, I've rented small amounts for $10/point. I'm going to offer a larger amount (at BCV) and 11 month booking so I'm going to start at 11 or 12/point this time. Greedy I guess, but it seems like people are getting it. We'll see....

Yes, our rooms are right across the hall. We've done this before when the kids were 13, 11 and 8. Worked out well. We had our privacy ;) and we all had more space. Now they'll be 17, 15 and 11.

My boys would like to do one of the adventures with the small boats/waverunner type vehicles at either port. I love St. John, so I'm inclined to pick something that gets us over there or the one that goes to Honeymoon Bay. If you've never been to St. John, Tunk Bay is gorgeous! For St. Maarten, we talked about heading over to Orient Beach but my teenage boys seemed a little leary of the clothing optional aspect! We've also gone to Mullet Bay which was beautiful and an easy taxi ride. I know that resort got damaged by a hurricane since we've been there, but the beach is still there. With only 2 ports, I won't mind spending the money for whatever we choose.

Thanks for pointing out that the DCL show is on! We'll catch the last few minutes.

I don't think you are being greedy with the $11/12 per point. We rented points in February and stayed at BLT. We payed a little over $900 (11/pt). The same room through Disney would have been a little over $2000.

We haven't really thought about whar excursions we want to do yet. Probably will do snorkeling, not sure if I will do that at St. Maarten/St. Thomas or Castaway Cay.

I got the Passporter from the library today for some reading enjoyment! I like the descriptions and comments about the excursions. If you've never read it, see if your library has it....fun for us planners!

My library had the passporter - it is a good guide book.

Hey - 1 year from tomorrow will be the cruise!!

Thank goodness it's not right now. My 6 year old broke his leg on Sunday and is in a full leg cast. That would not have been fun.

What a bummer! Full leg cast...what did he break? At least the cast should be off by summer!

One year from today for eastern Caribbean Magic! My family (DW and DS) and I are booked!

Thanks KristiMc! We're WDW veterans but this will be our first cruise of any kind. We're really excited.

This will be the first cruise for my kids and 2nd for DH and I. I love the parks - but I am kinda excited for a more relaxing vacation.

Hi gang! I am SO bummed! I just got word that the kids' Spring Break was moved to April 4th-8th....so its a good thing we hadn't booked thru DVC yet- cuz we'd be paying another $95!

We shall see....it'll be the Western Caribbean now, and if the group revolts, we'll stay here.....but most likely- this is adios!! Have fun in the Eastern Caribbean!!

:thumbsup2

That is a bummer! I am sure you will have a great time on the Western.

My mom and I will be joining you on this cruise. We just booked it while on the Magic over Easter.

This year we split our spring break between WDW and a 3 day Bahama cruise.
We booked this 7 day onboard! 3 days just didn't feel like enough.

Welcome!

So, does anyone think that this cruise might not be as full because people want to try out the Dream?

Wow, that's an interesting idea...this is our first cruise so I have no idea what to expect. I guess I'm imagining the ship being completely full and busy to mentally prepare ourselves.

This weekend we did some reservation work to get ready for the cruise...planning to fly in a day early, do one-way car rentals, and stay overnight at the Radisson the night before sailing. My wife was also making progress on our fish extender.

How does the whole fish extender thing work?

My wife knows more than me, but I think you use the DIS Boards to sign up for who's going to participate. You bring your fish extender, and your gifts to hand out on the cruise. Your fish extender hangs outside your door on the fish thingie, and people with other little gifts come to fill your extender, and you do the same around the ship. I think the gifts tend to be little items from like the dollar store or candy -- nothing big. The fish extenders are designed with all sorts of Disney/nautical themes.

Change of plans here. We are now going the following week instead. Have a great cruise!
