March 2008 Code Watch

No AP discount for Easter 2005 and 2006. With the new booking method, even if you got a discount for one day, you can no longer take the discount throughout your vacation as we could in the past. I would plan to not get a discount at this point and hope for a discount for some of your days. Last year the blackout for AP discounts was the week before and the week after Easter. Good luck. Yes, as others have said, there are discounts for peak season, only the weeks around Easter have been blacked out and any other high volume days because of big events (pop warner for example).

:cool2: subscribing too!
Our last year to Disney I believe :( My oldest is now 18 (what'sup with the additional $25 fee charged to your room per night when your kid turns 18????). Yeah, I realize he is, for all intents and purposes an "adult" but this "adult" ain't footin' the bill for this trip! :D
I guess I just don't get why Disney NEEDS to charge $25 more $$ per night when it's the same resort and same room we've ALWAYS stayed in (this is our 7th trip) ... and he's not taking up any extra "space".
Okay ... I'm done complaining! ;)
Hopefully I'll get an AP discount code so it will all be better!

Subscribing also. Hope to see something for the week prior to Easter and Easter Sunday.:goodvibes

Our family is booked at the Polynesian March 29 thru April 6th 2008. This will be our 4th trip, but I have never heard of codes. How exactly does that work? What does the code get you?

I was in the same position last year with my dd. It really hurts when you are going for 2 weeks. It's a bit cheaper at the moderates ($15) though, we only stayed deluxe for 3 nights. But the ouch factor was still there. :sad2:

popcorn:: :goodvibes

Going March 9th -March 16th (staying OKW March 9th -13th)

this may be a stupid question, but how do you get a code?

There are so many types of "codes," which are combinations of letters you have to use when you book your book your ressie. For example, you would call CRO or Dreams Unlimited, or AAA and say, "Hi, I'd like to book these dates at this resort using code XYZ." Sometimes there's no availability for that code on that date at that resort, so you may have to be flexible about dates and resorts.

Most codes are available to only certain types of people, for example Annual Pass (AP) holders, Disney Visa members, Florida residents. Some, however, are available to the "general public." Occasionally, Disney targets specific households, either by e-mail or postcard, and offers something very special for a very limited number of people. That happened last spring, and the discount was 40% off rack rate for rooms. To be included in this marketing, it is necessary to be in the system somehow, so make sure CRO has your current demographic info. Sometimes, codes are attached to the phone number at CRO, so I always make it a point to ask, "is there a code attached to my household at this time?" For the first time this summer, there actually WAS one, but I couldn't use it.

Disney offers these promotion codes to fill up rooms. There is usually something offered, but availability is much more limited during peak and holiday periods.

The best way to find a code is to watch this board for rumors. There are other sites that offer breaking news about codes, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to mention them here?

The worst thing about the codes is that they are not released very far in advance of the dates for which they can be used. AP codes are only available now thru December, so if you want to travel in January, you're still waiting. I LOVE to plan my trips to Disney, so this is hard for me.

BTW, if you like to stay at deluxe resorts, sometimes it's cheaper to buy an AP to get the discount on the room than to save on your park pass and pay "rack rate" for the room. Only one adult needs the AP to get the discount.

Hope this helps.

ALOHA!

I am not feeling optimistic about codes for our spring break week. It seems like everyone is going those 2 weeks. I can't believe Easter is at the same time. Ok, enough whining. I will be watching the boards, and not booking anything yet, so I don't bump up the numbers holding rooms.
