March 20, 2010*** Mickey's Magic Matey's Cruise the Western!***

Michelle and Angela,
Sorry that it's taken me so long to respond with our stateroom for the FE. We've had a very difficult three weeks that could threaten our cruise plans but we're pushing on with high hopes that everything will be fine. Our DS(2) will need a major surgery on 3/3/10. Our upmost concern is about his health but the doctors are telling us that he will be fine to go on the cruise. We're looking forward to the cruise and hope all of our worries are behind us at that point.

:grouphug:Thoughts and prayers with you and your entire family, Brenda! Take care!

Thanks for coordinating the FE and initiating the forum. Looking forward to meeting all of you! We're in stateroom 7098 and are scheduled for early dining.

:tink: Sending some pixie dust your way :tinker: See you guys on the ship for some much needed fun.

We decided February 20 is the cut off to join in FE so that we have time to get our goodies together. Please let me and/or Michelle know by tomorrow if you want to participate but haven't already let us know.

We are one month away!

Hey Michelle and Angela!

DCL finally assigned us a stateroom number, 2036. Thought I would let you know so you could add it to the FE list.

Thanks again for organizing. We are getting so excited. :rotfl:

I was hoping to find a posted list of cruisers on our FE Exchange this morning since the deadline passed. We need to tie up our loose ends and will do so once we know who is who and in which cabin.

I hope this is enough info so everyone can start planning for their gifts. Sorry, my aunt passed away and it has been a hectic/stressful few days. This vacation can not get here soon enough : )

Thanks so much, Michelle! Sorry to hear about your aunt. It sounds like there are many of us who will REALLY appreciate this vacation! :grouphug:

25 days!:cheer2:

All readers of this thread: we are going to meet at Preludes at 3pm on embarkation day (Saturday, March 20) so please come and meet us even if you are not participating in FE. This is just so we have a chance to meet each other in a "quiet" location before the safety drill.

All FE participants: I have an Excel spreadsheet with names, cabin numbers and room occupant numbers/ages if you want it. I was hoping to PM it to everyone participating but I can't see a way to do that. So please PM me with your email address and I will email the attachment to you. Alternatively, I will bring printed copies with me to our meeting at Preludes on March 20.

I am so excited for this trip and look forward to meeting you all!

I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt. Thank you and Angela for organizing!

Wegs3000/Angela,
Could you please PM me? I don't have enough posts to PM you my e-mail for the FE list.

Thanks!

We just booked recently. I'm a WDW CM - I work at the Beach Club as one of the lobby greeters. I'm Teena. My hubby (Bob) and I are taking our daughter (Jeanne) who is a 2nd grade teacher in Las Vegas and her boyfriend (Brian) on this cruise to celebrate her getting her masters degree (at night). She teaches at a 12 month school and it's her track break so we thought this would be a super way to celebrate. Hope to meet some fellow Disers on board.

Welcome, Teena! How nice that you will be a guest on this trip and you can put your CM nametage away for a bit. And what a nice gift to your daughter. Traveling as an adult with my parents is so enjoyable now - I haven't heard "you have two minutes to get back in the car or I'm leaving without you" in about 25 years.:lmao:

Come meet us all at 3pm in Preludes on embarkation day!

So I was just looking at all of the food pics. Now, I sooooo wish I had another adult on this cruise instead of just me and my 3 year old!! All of the food at Palo looks so good. Of course I have seen many items that are at other restaurants that look good as well, but it seems as though nothing compares to the Palo Brunch. For all of you that have had is, is it really that good?!? What about Breakfast at the other restaurants? I saw eggs benedict from one of them. Is it just as good as Palo?
Disney Cruise Line items...is there anywhere to buy the water bottles, lanyards, etc besides on the cruise? I am spending so much on this trip for me and my 3 year old, that I would like to save some cash somewhere!!
DCL info in books~~I was thinking about getting the Passporter. Does anyone suggest this or is there a different one you would suggest? Or, is this something where I can just get all my info online? Are these books worth it? I think it is about $13.00 including shipping on Amazon, so it is not too bad price wise.
This is our first cruise and I am not planning too many things, but want to definitely enjoy it to the fullest. Is there anywhere online that we can find out show times, etc in advance (what is playing when, movies, etc). With a 3 year old, it helps to have as much advance notice as possible!!

Thanks for all your help. This board has been so informative for me.

Hi Stacey!

We have been on two 3 night cruises and have yet to visit Palo! We enjoy all the food so much and I'm sure Palo is good too, just haven't gone that route yet, so can't really help you there! I can attest to the food being great every where else! But, we have very simple midwest tastes :), so the food and the fact that we are being served is very luxurious to us no matter where we are on the ship!:rotfl:

I can say that I really LOVE my Passporter. It is full of all sorts of information from the basics to little tidbits that even I had missed on our last cruises. I understand about saving every little bit because I am such a penny pincher, but that was money well worth spent to me. Lots of the information I'm sure you could search and find on the internet as well, but I just like having the book in my hand to read, highlight, enjoy. . .You can also check Passporter website for any updates that may have happened after the book was published. We have the 2009 edition, so I'm sure some things have changed since ours was published.

As far as shows and showtimes, I saw there was a number that you can call to find out movies that will be showing the week we are on. I'm not sure what the phone number is, but do a search for that thread. . .there were a couple just recently. I love checking the Navigators from recent cruises (also can do a search or go to the DCL FAQ thread)to check out times for shows and activities the two of you may enjoy. Hope all this helps a little.

This will be a new experience for us as well as we have done 3 nighters, but not a 7 and I know there are a lot more things to do and more nights to do it!:yay: We are so excited! Glad you are joining us. 23 days!!!

Hi Teena!

What a fantastic way to celebrate your daughter's hard work. I taught before I had my kids and know how much work that is and to be taking classes on top of that is, of course, even more!!! Good for her and good for you for encouraging her!!

Our family loves WDW so much and CM are like celebs to us:), so we are so glad you are joining us!! :goodvibes

How exciting Teena!! What a great reason to cruise! You work at our favorite resort!!! Hope to meet you on board!!!

Stacey-
This is my first cruise ever so I can't comment on Palo. But I bought the Passporter guide last March as soon as it came out and I have about wore the ink off the pages. I have found it to be a great resource. I got a discount code from a DIS board post which made it even better. There is a list of web sites, excursion planning info. and just things to consider that I would not have thought about without the book.

Also, some of the best tips came from our fellow cruisers on this thread. If you start at the beginning you will catch some of the planning stuff.

Happy planning and I hope to see you on embarkation day!
Angela

Hi Teena,
This is our first Disney Cruise too and I ordered the Passporter for the cruise because the regular WDW Passorter has been so helpful when we visit almost every year. I ordered with the discount code as well from their website and if you order online on their site you have the opportunity to read the E-Book version right away, so you can get a head start on planning. They don't have the 2010 version available until April so it would need to be the 2009 edition.

I love the Beach Club too!! We stayed last June in the villas since we are DVC members on the first part of our trip then moved to Animal Kingdom Villas for a couple of nights. Storm Along Bay is the best!
Have a wonderful vacation and congratulations to your daughter.
We are celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversry.
