March 2, 2016- Disney Wonder

This will be our first Disney cruise. My husband and I will be traveling with my daughter, her husband and four small children. Her oldest is 4. Its her birthday March 2 so we really want to celebrate. I understand there is a pirate night. Is there anything else we should know about for this cruise prior to cruising? Thanks in advance for any information. We are staying at the Hilton in Miami the night before so we can see the ships.

Make sure to let them know she's having a birthday so they can bring a small dessert and sing happy birthday to her. You can also pre-order full size cakes to be delivered at dinner (extra cost) as well. The best advice I have is to look through the navigators for this 4 day cruise in the weeks prior to departure so you have an idea of what the schedules and activities are most likely going to be. This allows you an opportunity to plan ahead. There's no way you can do everything on the ship, especially on a 4 day cruise so managing your time well will help ensure you don't miss the activities you really want to do/see. Pirate night is fun, dress up!

Thanks for the information. Where would I find the navigators?

Thanks for the information. Where would I find the navigators?

I use this website for the navigators.

It looks like the Wonder only has one cruise in the two months prior to ours with the same itinerary departing on Feb. 17. Hopefully someone will post the navigators from that cruise the following week. That doesn't give you a whole lot of time to plan but it's better than waiting until you're on the ship. They may change a few things but for the most part, the activities and schedule *should be* pretty similar.

You can go through some of the navigators from this same cruise this past spring if you want to get familiar with how they read. Here's the link to the 4 day Bahamian cruise with the same itinerary as ours that left March 11, 2015.

These will be a year old by the time we go so we could have a completely different schedule but at least you can familiarize yourself with what types of activities are generally offered and how the navigators read. These are left on your bed each night at turn down for the next day so you don't get a ton of time to plan things out on the ship.

My daughter and I are bringing friends for their first Disney Cruise. This is my third, but first time wanting to do the fish extenders. anyone able to help me out in figuring that out? :)

Hi everyone! I didn't see a group started yet so I figured I would get it going.
This will be my first Disney cruise and I'm hoping that the DIS Boards will be a good place to find others that will be sailing on the Wonder during these dates and also to start planning for the Fish Extender.

Anyone else coming on this cruise?
This is our family's first Disney cruise too and wanted to join the fish extender group. How do we do that?

It doesn't seem like anyone has started gathering the names yet, perhaps you would like to? Being in charge of the FE is easy (if a trial of patience as people do go MIA sometimes after saying they want to join).

Your group can decide on what information is necessary. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/favorite character/favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

At some point the list will "close". Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will either post the list (usually via a conversation is best, as that's more private) to confirm everyone on it is still participating. And making a statement about "anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped".

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a "pixie dust" list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their "final" list. Be sure the "pixie dust" list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others.
let me know if there is anything else I can help with! :)
