March 18, 2012 Spring Break on the Dream

:yay:
Hello cruise-mates :D

Just booked this morning & I'm excited for the trip. This is our 3rd Disney cruise & our 1st on the Dream. We are in stateroom 10530.

Our group is

Laurio (me)
Danny (hubby)
Sarah (dd) 6
Gabe (grandson) 4

We have DVC @ Bay Lake Towers & we just returned from a crazy 4 day trip to WDW. Boardwalk Inn is amazing---but never again on Marathon weekend:eek:

:dance3:
glad you're joining us. I'll add you to the list of those traveling.

We've been to WDW during Marathon weekend and had no problems. Why wouldn't you go again at that time?

Can we make it to 6 pages....!!!...Anyone have WDW pre or post cruise plans? My dd and I are flying down Thursday before, we will be at POP - heading to MK on Friday - going to BBB that morning then lunch at Cindy's castle....We can't wait! The BBB & lunch are a surprise to her.

67 days until the Dream!!:dance3:

We are staying at THV the night before the cruise. We are thinking about a Braves game on that Saturday. When we return from the cruise, we are back at the THV. No parks but lots of pool, shopping and dining on property and BBB for the girls maybe.

We just got back from Disney for the races. We did the 5K as a family and DH and I did the half-marathon again. I am going back for the Princess Half-marathon with a friend next month.

We also went for a night in December to Polynesian while DH and friends went to the bowl game.

Looking forward to start working on our FE gifts soon. I guess we need to finalize the list and info soon.

Did anybody get a Palo brunch reservation yet?

Hello Everybody! If anyone is interested in participating in the Fish Extender gift exchange please send me an EMAIL---not a PM. (easier for me to organize this way plus we have some new members that may not be able to PM yet) Please put Disney Dream FE as the subject.

Information needed-please supply as much as possible....
(the ONLY reason I am requesting ages, names AND gender is because some people like to make home made items and some like to get specific to ages and gender--some even include names)

Cabin Number-DISname- Last name
Adult Names
Child Names,Ages,Genders

Remember EMAIL me the above information.....
My name is Anoush, here is my email:
tee-tee@comcast.net

I will put together a list as soon as possible and plan on CLOSING sign up on January 27. That will give people plenty of time to put stuff together, it also gives time to get it done so you can mail the stuff to the boat if needed the week before. If more people join after that, perhaps another group can be started.
Also there is a suggestion about making the FE list a google doc. I have not done this before so if you know what needs to be done or an easier access besides me emailing the list to your home email address let me know.

Remember the FE is supposed to be fun. If you choose to participate you agree to deliver a gift to each room and may also supplement with individual gifts (especially for kids) to each person in the cabin. FE gifts may be home made, from dollar stores, candy, memorobilia from your hometown, Disney etc.
Looking forward to this cruise as I type from a hotel in Atlanta (day 2 of a business trip). Hoping to settle the matter tomorrow and get home to the family.

We will be there with 25 people! Lots of kids, Lots of adults....hopefully we'll be able to meet up for some Adult time!!!

Just received my Disney Visa in the mail ::squee:: Would have been nice to get the extra shipboard credit, but I'll live with earning Disney Dollars ;)

Poohfriend....while the people there for the race were amazingly nice, the staff at Boardwalk Inn seemed stretched a bit thin and not as *magical* as when we have visited on less busy weekends.

I give props to all the runners! Hearing that some of them had to get up and out by 4:30 am :scared1: ---that is just NOT me...I normally don't turn in till after 2 a.m.

Just reserved a couples massage on Nassau day...and we chose a noon check in on Sunday. Getting excited.. only 58 more days

The countdown has finally begun in our house. Last night we went to the Disney Parks Outlet (Not the Disney Store Outlet) and got us a few discounted DCL clothes! Went ahead and got the kiddos a few surprise gifts for when we get to our room too! We are looking forward to doing the FE gifts, but a little nervous because we have never done it before. I am sure we will do just fine though :) We booked our Palo dinner too! What time is everyone checking-in? We are between 11:30-12:00!!!

The shopping is always the best part!!! I've done FE's on 2 cruises and while I'm not the homemade/crafty type....I do have fun adding a lil personality to the gift bags :roll eyes:

Kids always seem to love pirate/princess gear, coloring books, noise makers, tattoo's, and of course candy.

For the adults in the past I've included mini booze bottles, or "fill in kits" cuz we tend to forget some essential item like emery boards, hair ties, safety pins, or such... and of course a better variety of candy for us grown ups ;)

But put what you think you & your family would enjoy....its a great way to bring a little of your home to the group.

We have a 12:45 PTA....so hopefully we will meet you up by Topsiders

Our check in window is 12:00 - 12:30.
We also visited Character Premiere a couple of weeks ago and picked up some DCL items. I'll check at the end of February too when I go to Disney for the Princess Race. I won't have the kids so it will be easier to shop.
As far as FE gifts we have received both handmade and store bought. They are all much appreciated! Items have included candy for the movies or shows, keychains, bookmarks, notebooks, sunscreen, first aid kit, magnets, crayons, coloring books, pirate, princess, mickey, beach, etc. We usually have a mixed bag of handmade and store bought. Just have fun!

Last year I ran the WDW Half and we were ON the bus at 3:30 am at POR. The bus was packed so I had to ride standing- and it took us an HOUR to go from POR to Epcot. Crazy. I was so nervous that even though I tried to go to sleep at 9 pm, it was closer to 11 when I fell asleep.

I wonder if a lot of the CMs get overworked during Marathon weekend. I had a decidedly UNmagical stay at Port Orleans last year- even though I had stayed there before, and loved it. A friend of mine was staying at SSR that weekend (she happens to be a CM at Disneyland) and she had the same experience. She was NOT a happy camper because it was not the "Disney way". However she returned last weekend and had a great stay. :thumbsup2

Jealous with the THV!! I stayed in the original Treehouses back in 1998- it was fantastic. I'm sure you'll have a great post cruise relaxing time!

We just got back from Disney for the races. We did the 5K as a family and DH and I did the half-marathon again. I am going back for the Princess Half-marathon with a friend next month.

We did the family 5K at Disneyland in September when I did the Half there (Coast to Coast baby!). SO much fun! I think we'll do that this year too. I'm running the inaugural Tinkerbell Half this weekend. I wish I could get out to WDW this year and do the Princess too, I think that would be a great race! Have fun!

Did anybody get a Palo brunch reservation yet?

Yes- I got it the day I could book. No Palo dinner for us this time- it's BRUNCH! :lovestruc

Good Luck Silly Little Pixie on your race this weekend! I love the medal! We stayed at the THV for the races earlier this month. We really enjoyed staying there and are looking forward to it again. I have some friends that stayed at the original ones too and have been trying to book the renovated THV for a visit.

Christine,

Have a great race & a more magical stay. I love Port Orleans.... But an hour to Epcot???? Noooooo way!!!

Please email me by this Friday to sign up for the FE gift exchange. I have not heard from many people so it looks like we will be a small group.

53 days until we sail!
Anoush
