March 17, 2013 - 4 Night Bahamian Cruise

Thanks for the responses. I have been debating about the zoo excursion, but I think we are going to stay closer to port and enjoy the boat more. Another question...I keep reading mixed things about dinner attire. Is it alright at least one night to wear a nice pair of jeans and a nice blouse, maybe with heels? Maybe on pirate night? Or should I stick to dresses?

We always take nice clothes for dinner. Meaning dresses or nice dress pants for me and DH wears a nice shirt and tie or his Disney shirts. We don't get to dress up very often so when we cruise we do like to dress up.

As for jeans, I've never seen anyone wear them to dinner except maybe pirate night.

I'm just hopping on again after months away and am blown away by how this thread's grown!!

We will not be participating in the FE this time as we are running way behind schedule. All the rest of you, have a fun time!

So, I've got our paperwork and am starting to pack--feel like I'm mobilizing an army. Someone reassure me that as long as I have the online documents printed/signed, our passports, and our reservation #, that I'll be ok. Am I missing any of the BIG stuff?!?!?

Ms Grandma--when do you fly out and where? We leave 3/15 out of CR on the 5:45am flight. Ugh--the airlines kindly changed it to that time for us after we had already had an afternoon flight scheduled.

Happy packing. We'll see everyone on board!

Seven days.....seven days.....

Really getting excited now! Started yesterday getting all of our stuff together. Cruise docs, passports, FE, magnets for our door, Disney pins, etc etc are at least semi packed and ready to go.

Still have to pick up stuff from dry cleaners (DH suit and such) because we also like to dress up when we get a chance. However this time I think I am sticking with the fancy pants and dressy top for dinner as there is not a formal night on the shorter cruises. Still debating on what to do about pirate night, but probably just a pirate themed shirt and jewelry.

Other than throwing all the clothes and other essentials in a suitcase on Friday, I think I've got it together....hah!

I need to look at the deck plan, but I think I'll be hanging out top side before the safety drill if anyone wants to pop up and say hi. Will let you know for sure exactly when and where in a day or two. Cya real soon!

Oh I was soooooooo obnoxious at work today! I am so ready to go but not at the same time. Still need to finish getting magnets done and last few things together. I am doing laundry today and getting everything together that we are taking. Unfortunately, it is going to be in the upper 80's and low 90's here this week so will need all our summer clothes already. Thankfully my son is off of school this week too so he can just bum around in his old clothes. Then I can make sure I have everything!

Question - I've read the water on the ship is good but is it bottled water good? We drink filtered water here in Phoenix cause the water is so gross from the tap and all I drink is water so need to know if I will be okay not buying bottled water. I will bring some for Nassau but hope to not have to bring lots of it.

Can't wait to be on a plane on Sat!

This is my first cruise so I am no expert but I have read that the water on the boat is really good. Apparently it is salt water they put through a filtering process. I don't know

It is triple filtered RO water so yes, it's good. We've got a built in under-the-sink RO and that's all we drink here too as we're on a rural water source that's so full of chlorine it's not even funny.....if you're used to bottled, it does taste different (no minerals) but it is clear, clean and yummy! If you're used to filtered, then you should feel right at home.

We've always just packed an empty water bottle and filled it with ice from the soda fountain to take with us - melts and viola, fresh drinking water! Disney uses it in all of their cooking/ice/etc so even the ice cubes are good!

You can also ask your stateroom host/ess to bring you a pitcher of ice water to your room....they will graciously do that for you........

For any of you who are interested in meeting really quick to say Hi! on embarkation day, we will be at Current's Bar (Deck 13, forward) from about 2:30 until they call for the Safety Drill. We'll be up there relaxing and having a beer or other alcoholic beverage.......teehee...........

Even though this is in the adults only section of the ship, on this day, until we actually cast off, it is not an issue for the kids to be up there, so no worries on that part.

Hope to see you there! Look forward to putting names to faces (although, in all honesty, I will remember your face forever, but putting a name to it, even later in the cruise, will probably be beyond me!)

Boy can I relate to this! I meet so many people as a physical therapist and now I change school districts every year so meet teachers, parents, aides, etc. They all seem to remember my name but I have the worst time with remembering all the names of all these new people year after year! I readily know I should know them by their face but their name?????? Not a clue!

I look forward to meeting everyone too. Can't wait to be on the ship! Will we be having green beer?

I am really hoping to make it up to meet with you all and bring all the family members. That is if I can get the old people situated. Definitely hope to see you there.
