March 17, 2013 - 4 Night Bahamian Cruise

Beverly-
Glad you'll be cruising with us! We did a FE on our last cruise and loved it! If you are willing to head it up that would be great! We (DG, Mariah 9 and myself, Heidi) would love to participate! We're in stateroom 6072.

I have a question for veteran cruisers regarding the KTTW card. I understand it is the ONLY way to pay for anything on the cruise. When our family goes on a trip we give our kids a specific amount of fun money that they can use for whatever they would like, until it's gone. And when it's gone, it's gone. I had originally planned on buying prepaid Disney gift cards for them. But it looks like that's not an option. I don't completely trust my 15 year old with charging capabilities. Anyone ever faced this before and have a suggestion so he doesn't have to find us every time he wants a smoothie?

I am a first time cruiser too, but this is my plan based on what I have read and seen on blogs. My parent are giving us this cruise as a gift and they gave each of us $50 disney gift cards. It says on the cards that you can use them on the disney cruise. From what I have read you can put a different credit card on each key to the world card. So when we get on the boat I am going to go to guest services and ask if each child can put their gift card on their key to the world card. If nothing else I figure they can tell us the best way to handle it. I don't know if that helps at all but if they make the gift cards and say on the card you can use them on the cruise then there must be a way.

Welcome, we live in the Lees Summit area. Where do you all live in KC?

Hi Linda -
I did answer you above but guess you didn't see it - our FE list is closed, and has been for about a month. I am sorry about that! If there is anyone here that maybe can add these cabins, please PM them privately.

I would really like to know if this worked out - we'll be cruising with our kids this summer and if you can do a different card on each KTTW card, that would be awesome! According to the Gift Card website, you can use them to 1) Apply to your stateroom charges or 2) Help purchase a Disney cruise - that was all the info that I could find when I tried to answer the other question :)

Still amazed at what I learn on these boards :)

Well I don't know of it will work but I am going to try:). I will let you know later if it works or what they tell me. I got the passporter book and I think that is where I read about putting different cards on each KTTW card. If it is possible my 18 year old can put his own card on there if he likes and charge what ever he wants!

I have a question for the DCL veterans...what is your favorite stateroom, and why? If we do book our next cruise on this trip I am trying to decide what room we should book, porthole, veranda, inside?

We love a veranda room, because at the end of a long day it's nice to sit outside and enjoy the peace and quiet. At night, you can't always go up on the decks because they are cleaning them. We also try to get a room between elevators, less foot traffic.....

Well you are way ahead of me.
Still have to finish FEs
Have passports ready
Have DCL paperwork signed
Still have to figure out all the magnets
Still have to get DS new shoes (has grown another inch!!!!)
Need some toiletries still
Have all the meds
Now just need to finish and get it all in suitcases!
Thankfully DH gets two free checked bags on USAirways cause in military!

Plus am working both Sat and Sun this coming weekend! So no days off for me till we get on the plane to FL! Not sure how it is all going to get done but will figure it all out - I do work better on a deadline!

I am so in countdown mode - have this great widget on my phone that counts down to the second and am driving all my co-workers mad

Good for you!!!!
Still have to finish the FE's
Hubby has taken care of all paperwork involved
I have been packed for a month, but I am gonna have to go back through to make sure I have what I want.
Then I have to finish up the boys and we are ready to go until my parents get here and I have to repack them.

Quick question. What do you all do for sea sickness. I don't know if any of our party will have any issues, but a few are not able to take the OTC stuff. I have gotten the wrist bands and 73 million different versions of ginger. Is there anythig that works particularly well for you?

Also, my deepest appologies to the men of our group for the cheapness of their gift. What I was making was not so flimsy. My sewing machine messed up yesterday so I had to resort to purchasing a substitute item. I have dressed it up and it doesn't look too bad.

I have two more questions for you all...is anyone going on any of the Bahamas excursions? And...I know I did not get in on time to do the FE's but do you all try to get together and meet each other at any point while on the boat?

Hiya -
We are not going on an excursion, but we'll probably pop off the boat in Nassau and see what we can see!

As far as Castaway Cay, DH is going to do the Parasailing again, but I am not sure what I am doing........I might watch him, I might just hang out.....

We had discussed a cruise meet, but with the cruise being so short, it was decided not to do one.........however, I will probably post on here somewhere where I will be in case you want to pop by and say HI! sometime right after the sail-away party or right after the safety drill.....haven't really thought about where/when yet! :) I would love to meet some of you that I've been chatting with!

We are going to Atlantis through Comfort Suites so we can do the water park. On CC I am doing the parasailing (always wanted to!) and DS and I are going to snorkel a little, other then that just going to just hang on the beach. My DH is not really a water person so not sure what he is going to do besides take pictures.

I would like to meet up with some of you as well just let me know when and where!

We are not doing any excursions this trip. This trip is going to be about relaxation for us. I don't even think we are getting off the ship in Nassau. Unless it is to go to Senor Frogs. ;)

This weekend we have got to get our behinds in gear and pack. We have some of our evening clothes that we like to wear packed but not our daily stuff.

I just can't wait for this cruise. We haven't cruised since last March on the Dream and I just can't wait. Did I say that already???? :rotfl: 8 more days till we leave for KC. Woo Hoo!

Thanks for the responses. I have been debating about the zoo excursion, but I think we are going to stay closer to port and enjoy the boat more. Another question...I keep reading mixed things about dinner attire. Is it alright at least one night to wear a nice pair of jeans and a nice blouse, maybe with heels? Maybe on pirate night? Or should I stick to dresses?

I wore black capris, black dress pants and black skirts to dinners on our cruise last year- changed out the tops each time- fairly dressy tops / shoes. I did not see many women in jeans but did see lots of dressier shorts/ sundresses/ capris and of course ball gowns and cocktail dresses on formal night ( that was a 7 night cruise though).

Lots of adults in costumes for pirate night as well.

One thing I recall is I was always freezing at dinner- so recommend a sweater or wrap of some sort that will go with multiple outfits,

Thanks I went and bought a black pashmina I can wear over my sundresses. Hopefully that will be enough:).
