March 17, 2013 - 4 Night Bahamian Cruise

We are flying out of KC, we always fly out a day or two before a cruise, on the 16th and staying at Saratoga Springs that night. We have a reservation at Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom for supper that night and am super excited to try it.

Then we are taking a Limo out to port the next morning. This will be our girls first time on the Dream and they are excited. Our oldest is 19 and youngest is 16.

It is coming up on us fast now. Can't wait to get away from this snow!

We live in the Kansas City area. My son is 18 and a little worried about being bored and having to hang out with mom and stepdad. His sister is 17 and can't wait to go to the teen club.

Ok everyone, I just spent the last 30 minutes reading all the posts for this cruise. I think I am beginning to understand how this works. I am excited to get to know some people who will be on this cruise. I am traveling with my DH, DS (18), DD (17), DS (6). We are all so excited and I am already trying to talk my DH in to booking a future cruise. We just have to decide, kids or no kids? Next May will be our 10 year anniversary, perfect reason for another cruise:). This is our first cruise for all of us. I wish I had learned about the FE's sooner. Maybe next time!

Welcome! So glad you will be joining us, and also sorry you missed the FE - they are lots of fun, and teach the kids spirit of giving in my opinion!

Do wait to book a future cruise until you get onboard, the offer special discounts and also can book you "dummy dates" if you don't know for sure when you are going. In addition, you get free $$ from DCL (to spend on the next cruise) and only have to put 10% down (instead of the usual 20%) - we'll be booking the East Bound Panama Canal cruise in Sept 2014 on this trip......

They've got a Panama Canal cruise in May of next year too ;)

This will be our first no kids cruise but quite frankly, we've taken our kids on all of the others and we never saw them except for dinner and port days, and dinner only because we forced them to come eat with us! There is so much for the kids to do on board!

Looking forward to meeting you! See you really soon!

Hi I do not know how all this works but I am going on the 4 day Bahamas cruise leaving March 17. I read in a blog I should come here to meet others who will be on this trip also. I am not exactly sure what I am doing though or who I am sending his too:)! Help

Sorry, should have read this one first - it's posted to anyone who reads this "thread" (the one for this cruise) - glad to meet you and hope we get to see each other before -

BTW, where in KC do you live? We're in Pittsburg, Kansas and try to get up that way about once a month.....

So are you flying out of KC? Our flight is Saturday like 11:00 or so on SouthWest. Just wondering?

Yes we are flying out on Saturday also but not until about 5:00. We do not get into Orlando until 10:40pm. We are just going to stay at the Hyatt then catch the magic express the next morning. We are flying tran air. This trip is a gift from my parents. They promised my two older children they would take them before they graduated from high school. We were running out of time so here we are:). I am so excited we all get to go!

We live in Lees Summit, Mo about twenty minutes east of the city.

We are in St. Louis! (Webster Groves to be exact) and we fly out way early Sunday morning. We're not telling our kids (ages 15, 6 and 3) about our trip until the day before. So exciting!

Wow, I'm impressed. I don't think I could keep it secret:)! Do you have boys, girls or both?

Boy, 15. Girls, 6 and 3. My girls would be asking every two minutes how much longer it's going to be so it is saving us by not having to constantly answer that question. :)

ROFL - although ours won't be with us this time, I resemble that remark. We don't keep it secret, but don't tell them too far in advance!

:hyper: CRAP!!! I need more money, more time and more luggage space. I keep looking on all these boards and pinterest and keep finding stuff I want to include in my FE gifts.

You just need to hold that thought and book another cruise! :)

My son is 6, and is excited to play in the oceaneers club. Surprisingly he's pretty calm about going. He likes to watch u-tube videos with me in preparation of the trip. I work with preschool and pre-k children and have had many parents wait and tell their kids just days before their trips for the same reason:). Destin is in kindergarten and hoping to make some new friends.

I have a question for veteran cruisers regarding the KTTW card. I understand it is the ONLY way to pay for anything on the cruise. When our family goes on a trip we give our kids a specific amount of fun money that they can use for whatever they would like, until it's gone. And when it's gone, it's gone. I had originally planned on buying prepaid Disney gift cards for them. But it looks like that's not an option. I don't completely trust my 15 year old with charging capabilities. Anyone ever faced this before and have a suggestion so he doesn't have to find us every time he wants a smoothie?

We've traveled with our kids before too - and I am racking my brain, but I just don't think that there is a good solution to this dilemma. We have yet to give our kids charging privileges, the oldest one is 12, soon to be 13, and I kind of feel like you do.

Wish they would find a way, but I don't think you can limit his spending to $X on the trip......

We have given our girls charging privileges for many years now. They are 16 and 19 now. We let them know what they can and can't charge. They usually ask us before they purchase anything and we have never had any problems with them abusing the privilege.

You can check your bill at anytime during the cruise and it will show you what card has charged what. And you can make payments on it. So you could always give them the amount you want them to have and then when they purchase something go down and credit your account the amount of their purchase. :confused3 Just an idea. Or let them know they are allocated one smoothie a day or they can spend "X" amount this day.

Just trying to help and give ideas. Can't wait for our cruise. We need it so bad. Will be leaving in 14 days. :cool1:

Hi Linda -
This would have been the place to get on the FE list, but with only two weeks left, I am sorry, but the list has been closed.

My apologies, but we are happy that you are able to sail with us! Welcome to the board....

Beverly
