March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

I can't wait either.

Fortunately, I only have to work 3 of the next 7 days. I have a lot to do between now and when we leave so it will keep me busy!!

Lucky! I do have the weekend off, thank goodness. Next week (Monday through Friday) is our "month end close" reporting so I've got to finish all the packing by this Sunday afternoon. Lots of plans throughout the weekend...going to be tight getting everything done.

The fish extender I ordered for 30 bucks off of ebay came TODAY. Very cute though much smaller than I was expecting. Now just need my Bonine and Seabands to come from Drugstore.com & some things from Avon.

It is getting close!!! A week from tomorrow morning I'll be on the plane to LA! I guess we'll all be in route!!!

All of St. Charles county where we are was having some severe weather. No actual tornados tonight. I feel for you and Kim having to be out of town now and then get back, pack and leave again.

Did Kim tell you I teach Hospitality, Tourism and Event planning? I am a cruise addict. Love it! I thrive off of researching and finding information on cruising for all my friends and coworkers. I am always finding something and booking it for someone. Unfortunately, it doesn't benefit me, no IATA number. I also teach Sabre in my class.

Good Luck in ATL.:cheer2:

Really? Well, we might have to chat:)

Tax wise? Well, do they have to pay taxes? If they do, I would hope it isn't as much as we have to pay. We put the tips on our onboard account and if we feel that the person gave us excellent service, we put some cash in the envelope along with their piece of paper that says we charged our tips. It seems that they would get the money faster if you gave them cash. But we use our Disney Dollars to pay for our tips

Taxes......??? .......hmmmm......haven't thought about that one......the Wonder is Bahamian flagged so do they really have to pay US taxes? I know the ship has to be in accordance with US laws since they visit US ports but I wouldn't think the employees are subject to US taxes.

I have a question about the calling cards to give as gifts to CM's. Do they need an international one? Pretty much everyone has a cell phone that allows them FREE long distance. Let me know your thoughts, I love the idea but don't want to give them one if they can call free on their cell.

A week from today we will be driving to the airport and trying to corral 6 youths with us! (ages 11-19..oh wait, my oldest niece just turned 20 this week!) So I guess she's really not a youth, but being my first niece she'll always be a little girl to me! :)
It's going to be interesting, I need to go measure all my suitcases, we are not checking anything....I'm sure when the airlines made that change to start charging for every checked bag, they changed the measurements on carry ons...where is my measuring tape??
This will be some creative packing! :)
Oh, and hopefully finishing the bulk of our FE gifts today!

Slowly marking things off my to-do list...popcorn::
Create charts for Speech & Debate tournament (held the weekend we get back) recruit over 200 community judges for the event.
Decorate and complete Father/Daughter dance for 100+ girls tonight
Grade my writing class papers/create a reading test for Nicholas Nickleby and the Hawk that Dare Not Hunt by Day.
Put Graze-on on my pastures, haul 25 more bales of hay into the loft to last while we're gone. Try to find that mole/mouse that keeps burrowing in my remaining hay..stinker!
Do about 15 loads of laundry, sorting spring/winter clothes :laundy:
Send clothes to the cleaners
Somehow hem the shoulders of the formal dress my daughter finally found
Finish Fish Extender gifts
Find the passports
Plan for our troop meeting Monday
Bring snacks to Sunday School tomorrow
Pay bills :eek2:
Print out all the confirmations for rental car, hotel, excursion..make a list of contact numbers for house sitters
PACK..oh my goodness...:lmao:

Really? We're going on vacation?? At least I haven't had the nightmares the TX mom has been having...thank goodness for the little things!

Hope everyone gets their to-do's done!! Especially those traveling this weekend, I just can't seem to get anything done during the week, this weekend must be do it all or bust....:scared1:

It is going to be sunny and 82 degrees here in Arizona today so it should be perfect weather in San Pedro next week. I was worried that it was going to be a bit on the cold side because we have had so many late winter storms, but nope it is going to be in the 70's which is PERFECT!! :cool1:

Thanks!! That helps a lot with packing!! IT will be a great break!! :)

Called DCL today. They told me that formal night is night 2!!!! I hope this is true. It seems so strange to have a formal night on a port day.

I have a question about pirate night. Can we bring toy pirate weapons on board?? :confused3

Disney sure needs to get it together! When I called yesterday, they told me that for our specific voyage, formal night is night 3.

However, I also sent them an e-mail that said:

"I am booked on the Disney Wonder Mexican Riviera cruise leaving next
Sunday, March 13. I understand our itinerary is unique from other Wonder
Mexican Riviera sailings in that we have two days in Cabo that are not
back to back. I am wondering how this will affect what nights the
formal, semi-formal, and pirate nights are.

Can you please tell me which nights correspond to formal night, pirate
night, and semi-formal night? Thanks!"

The reply I received was:

"Dining attire varies by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general,
most meals are "Cruise Casual"-- jeans, khakis and capris are permitted;
however, we ask that Guests refrain from wearing shorts, swimwear or
tank tops in the dining rooms.

Below is the recommended attire for your cruise itinerary and is subject
to change:

*Nights 1, 3,4, 7: cruise casual
*Night 2: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for
women: gown or dress
*Night 5: pirate night with deck party - cruise casual or bring your
best pirate outfit!
*Night 6: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit."

Oh also, wanted to share with everyone that it's a beautiful 79 degrees today here in LA! Hopefully this lasts till we set sail!

Just literally got off of the phone, a few seconds ago, with DCL and the agent has confirmed what you received via e-mail:

Formal - Night 2
Pirate - Night 5
Semi-Formal - Night 6

Hope they don't change it again! :headache:

Can't believe they changed formal night. Well, I think that will work better than Cabo day.

So..we made a packing list this morning and started putting everything in packing cubes and the suitcases. Plan to finish up tomorrow with packing clothes

Still working on buying FE gifts

I went to the gym this afternoon and waaay overdid it Sore & exhausted...Now all I feel like to doing is laying here in bed lounging with my laptop, wishing I could close my eyes and turn in for the night...but can't...too much left to do.

This time next week my family will be at the Doubletree San Pedro. We'll have enjoyed a swim, the hot chocolate chip cookies....walked around the pier....preparing to board the Wonder the next morning!! So close!!

Logging off. Back to the grind!

Same for us next week at this time we will have also done all the same things that you are planning on doing at the Doubletree!! We stayed there last March before our RCCL cruise and really enjoyed it!

This happened to me as well. I was told night two. When I said, " are you sure? This sailing is suppose to be night three" she put me on hold and came back and said she checked again and indeed it was the third night, and she said there are only two sailings with formal on Tuesday night, and that she didn't know why....... I am going to be very upset if it is night two, as we switched our Palo ressies.........
Maybe I should call again too....
I think the general answer is night two.....

I have seen people with toy swords on the cruise but it is generally not recomended as DCL could confiscate anything percieved as a weapon. I thought about picking up a couple of foam swords to bring but then reconsidered.pirate:

Yes, you can buy toy swords and other pirate items on board.

This formal night ballyhoo is irritating me. I don't like not knowing, lol!

In Atlanta right now, just had drinks with Minniemamamax (okay, I think I spelled that wrong, I did have an Italian Sangria earlier). Our girls are cheering this weekend, and we are both somewhat put out that we couldn't spend this weekend packing for leaving next weekend!

We also discussed cheer, Madeline says part of the cheer is going to incorporate "jump, shake your booty" although instead of saying "Hey Vikings" it will be "Hey Disney fants". My girls LOVE that cheer.

Arrrg! Pirate night is suppose to be night 4.... PV. Not night 5!
Our night 5 is a sea day, as well as st. Patty's day. Why do they keep changing the info they are giving out?
Yes, very frustrating.
