March '11 TR: My 21 + 5 Years Birthday At WDW!! (HOME SWEET HOME) 6/24

EPCOT EMH!!!!

HAPPY THURSDAY DIS FRIENDS!!!

LIFE UPDATE:

Today was my post-op! It went pretty well. The ENT said that I still have scabs and redness but it will go away within 2 weeks. I was told to stay on my pain meds as needed and I'm going to try and dumb down the doses to get off of it! Unfortunately, my stubborn cough that I've had since last week turned out to be bronchitis  I was given an antibiotic and those pills are huge!!!

In other news..we found out on Monday that our poor 6 yr old dog Bailey had to have surgery. He went in right away on Tues and they removed an anal tumor the size of a pea. We don't know yet if it's cancer, pre-cancer or nothing. We picked him up on Tues but had to take him back because of bleeding. We picked him up again yesterday and he's still having bleeding so he's in a puppy diaper now and has a re-check tomorrow morning and is wearing the cone of shame! Our 7 yr old dog, Buster has been at the kennel with the recent events with Baily but is getting picked up as we speak so we'll see how it goes. With the events the past few days, I called work and told them I wouldn't be at work tomorrow but would be there bright and early Monday morning!!

Please pray for my family and Bailey Boo!!

Yesterday, my dad and I did the 10hr round-trip drive from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh to submit everything for my teaching certificate so it's in the mail and I was told I should have it in 6 weeks! We went out to lunch with a former co-worker of my dads from the college and they go to WDW every year and are staying at POR in May but asked my dad his fav resort..what does he say, NOT WL, NOT POLY BUT..YACHT CLUB..go figure. I guess I'll be stalking my passholder website to try and get that for June :rotfl:

NOW FOR AN UPDATE!!!!!

FRIDAY MARCH 18, 2011

When we left off, we had just watched Illuminations and were going to hit up EMH!

Our first stop was FIGMENT!

254.jpg

255.jpg

256.jpg

Once again, we had no schedule and just went with the flow to see what we got done!

259.jpg

SE was next! We all rode separate!

261.jpg

265.jpg

266.jpg

268.jpg

I wanted to ride Mission Space next! Mom doesn't really care for it but agreed to go if we didn't do the super spinny one so off we went!

269.jpg

Of course we rode TT again..no wait again of course!

After TT we headed to WS and wanted to hit up Mexico and Norway before heading back to BC to get our car!

270.jpg

271.jpg

272.jpg

After Mexico we went to Norway and had a boat to ourselves! The movie was not running so we walked right through and couldn't pass up a post Midnight snack!

I got the fancy pretzel but it wasn't very good! I was wishing I had the strawberry tartlet thing from France as I was eating the pretzel. I also had a milk with mine and can't recall what mom and bro got but they both did have some coffee with theirs! My snack was $4.50 so it was worth a snack credit for that but with it being late, the choices were pretty slim.

273.jpg

I was happy to see the new napkins so I took pics of that too!

275.jpg

After our snack, we walked back to BC, got in the car, drove back to POFQ, and CRASHED! We had left Epcot just before 12am so we did get a ton of rides done and ate within that EMH time!!

Poor Bro had to be at work at 7:15 am so it was a short night for him but was happy to be able to go to La Nouba and Ohana the next day!!

MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!

SATURDAY MARCH 19, 2011

Hi Everyone!!!!

When I left off, we were safe and sound in our beds at POFQ but the next day was my birthday!!!!!

Bro got up super early since he had to be at work at 7:15..yuck!

Mom and I got up early as well..6:45am!!

We turned on the weather and it was 60 degrees with a high of 88 that day..woo!!!!!

My hair appt at GF was at 9am for the Island Braids so we made sure to allow extra travel time!

We stopped at the food court for a light breakfast since we were eating at Chef Mickey's at 10:35am.

Mom and I both had croissants which were very yummy and it was $4.50 total. Mom had coffee and I had lemonade to drink.

By 8am we were out the door heading to MK to take the monorail to GF!!

A bus came right away and off we went to MK without stopping at POR!!

We made it to MK super quick and as everyone rushed to bag check, we headed to the monorail!

276.jpg

277.jpg

279.jpg

I told mom this is "ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN"..cruel for her but not for me since I have my AP but I didn't go in!

282.jpg

283.jpg

285.jpg

We rode through CR

286.jpg

287.jpg

and TTC

and Poly

290.jpg

and finally GF!!

291.jpg

We got there at 8:30am and had a 1/2 hour to kill so we walked around, went potty, checked out some restaurant menus, and went to the gift shop where I purchased a ring!

293.jpg

294.jpg

Since I was unable to find my ring at UK in Epcot, I settled for a pink/diamond one at GF that was in the shape of a Mickey head. It was around $30 but I got my AP discount so it took a little off! Little did I know, I should have checked at DTD because they had the ring at Rag Road..go figure.

002-1.jpg

At 9am the doors opened for the hair salon and in we went! For the life of me I can't remember the CM's name..I want to say it was Karen? I could be wrong but she is the only CM that works at GF full time and was very friendly!

She started off by washing my hair with nice smelling shampoo/cond. and then went to work!

295.jpg

296.jpg

297.jpg

All done!!!!

At 9:20am, 2 ladies had walked in with 9:30 appts and seemed kind of mad that they weren't able to be taken early (GF snobs alert!!) but said they would go to the gift shop and be back. I looked at my watch when they left and it was for sure 9:20am..geez! By 9:25 my braids were done! I could have chosen all black or colors so of course I picked colors!

003-1.jpg

(This pic was taken a week after having the braids done)

The total price was $55 and I tipped $10.

She told me if I were still a CM I could have gotten a % off but it wasn't until I got home and was looking at all my AP discounts that it said I could have gotten 10% a salon service of $50+ so I guess I should have researched that but I was willing to pay full price anyways.

I ended up keeping the braids in for about 2 weeks and then took them out. After about 2 weeks, your hair starts to break not to mention the residue from hair spray, shampoo, cond, and sunblock!! If you or anyone you know get the braids done, make sure you have sunblock to put on the braids!! I knew this from past mistakes so I had it ready to go! I used lotion this time instead of the spray and I think it protected it better than the spray but left awful residue!! I also had gotten a pack of extra hair ties at Sallys before the trip in case any broke and told the CM that and she said she would have gladly given me extras to take in case they broke which was very nice!!!

OVERALL....The experience was great and I would get the braids done again!!!! I'm excited to try them at Vero for this summer. I've been meaning to call and to see what the prices are because if it's $100, I'll do it at GF before we go but assuming it's around $55, I'll have it done at Vero! I hear they do the beads there too!!!

Hair came out great :thumbsup2

Can't believe people were upset about not being able to be taking in early....not even like they had that long to wait..snobs indeed :sad2:

Yikes, I'm behind! First, woo hoo for submitting your stuff for your teaching license! I seem to remember them saying it took about a month to get...well, it took maybe a couple weeks if that so maybe you'll get it earlier!

Ugh, I hate when people think everything revolves around them. Snobby people are annoying. :snooty: Your hair looked cute! And great pictures of the trip over to the GF. :thumbsup2

Loved your hair...must have made getting ready super easy with the braids. Jasmine got them at Seaworld on one of our trips and she loved them too!

Great shots from the monorail!!

Your trip looks like so much fun and so far you've had better weather on your trip than I think we had on ours (I didn't even get to the rainy days yet)

I am praying for your dog Bailey! I hope he is ok!

I am jealous of your Vero beach vacay!!

Your braids look cool! Will we see more pictures of you and your braids? I coudln't do that, I don't even like to put my hair in a ponytail! My hair is almost always down! But that is cool that you did that!

Thanks :) I'm hoping it will be less than 6 weeks but I'm sure in a week or two when EVERYONE submits their applications that it will take way longer so I guess it's good I'm a week or two ahead!

Thanks! It was so easy getting up in the morning..shower and go! She did suggest wearing a scarf or bandana when you go to bed which I did and I think it saved the braids a little bit bc they didn't get a fuzzy!

We had great weather on the trip and not one day of rain but they owed us since it never got out of the 40s and 50s when we where there in Dec and March was a great surprise with 80s and no rain!

You'll see more pics of them but not up close like that. I've always worn a ponytail since I had enough hair for one plus I danced for 10 years when I was younger so I always had to have my hair pulled up!

It looks like they did a great job at the Grand Floridian--the braids are not too tight, which is what I always worry about!

love the hair Megan- turned out really cute!

and good luck on your first day back to work tomorrow- hope it goes well!!

Thanks! They were a little tight and this is coming from someone who has had this done MANY times but the tighter they are, the longer they will stay in. She also braided them wet with hairspray which was interesting to me bc my former hair dresser always did them with dry hair and no hairspray and these lasted a lot longer!

ADRS AND SHOPPING!!!!

HI DIS FRIENDS!!! HAPPY MONDAY!!!

I saw that a ton of people updated their TR/PTR today so I will too!

First of all, we found out that Bailey-Boo is cancer-free and we're thanking our lucky stars and glad to see that praying and patience once again pays off for my family!! He still can't jump or climb steps till next Tues but we'll just have to be patient a little longer!

In other news. I've decided to apply for a job at WDW (again!) I enjoy my job but now that I will have my teaching certificate, I figured maybe this summer it's my time to pack up and head south. I put in for FT, PT, and Seasonal but didn't think to put my brother's address so I doubt I'll get an interview but who knows. I applied on Sat and only got a "thank you" email for applying. I put Attractions first, Children's Programs 2nd (but it wasn't showing as needing filled), and Merchandise third. I figured until I get a teaching job, it would be good to have and I'll be established in the area where I want to teach, plus a former roommate of mine moved back there to work at WDW and needs a roommate by Oct so I figured here's my chance. I'm thinking regardless of everything, I'll be done with my job by July and move down then. I hit my 2 years at my school in May so I get a $200 bonus and my week of paid vacation which I'll use in June :woohoo: My dad is all for the move, my mom won't be too thrilled to lose me, and I'm all for it! We'll see what happens in the coming weeks!

Now for the trip update!!

Mom and I went shopping on Saturday! Old Navy was having a BOGO 1/2 off sale and Stuff and Save if you use their credit card so I hit that up! I also had a $50 gift card from my birthday which went to use quickly. I said I wouldn't keep all of it..but I have haha. Please ignore the sizes. I thought for sure I'd drop a dress size from the whole surgery thing but I only lost 8lbs  I guess you can say I still liked to eat even though I couldn't each much haha.

T shirt and 3 white "under shirts"

001-1.jpg

Swim cover-ups. I really wanted white and black but they didn't have any in my size. I thought these looked too big but my mom insisted that they looked fine. I might sneak over there this weekend and try on the size down to see!

006-1.jpg

Standard tank tops

005-1.jpg

Flip Flops. My cousin is getting married and the reception is in 2 weeks so I figured these would look cute with a black sun dress!

004-2.jpg

Terry-Cloth shorts...I LOVE THESE!!! They didn't have them last year and I missed it so much so when I saw these I snagged 4 pairs! I normally don't wear white shorts but figured they'll look find with a color tank and will look much better with tan legs!

007.jpg

Black sundress! Amanda (creativeamanda) has the same one, different color!

009.jpg

010.jpg

Shorts that I found on the clearance rack but I don't know if I'm going to keep them. They seem a bit long but not long enough to be "board shorts" but not short enough for shorts but at $10 I could wear them at school I guess :confused3

008-1.jpg

Free Stuff and Save bag

002.jpg

003-1.jpg

All in all, my total was $200+, I got it down to $130ish with the discounts, and put $88 on my CC after using my gift card so $88 for all that is pretty darn good IMO!

ADRS

Before going back to work today, I took the liberty of booking some ADRs. We've made a few at WDW and a few at Vero Beach.

6/16: No ADR..travel day. We'll snack at the airport and then eat a late dinner at POFQ food court.

6/17: Universal: Breakfast will be at POFQ food court, lunch at IOA or UVO. For dinner, I don't think they take ADRs but I'd like to eat here or Bubba Gump, Pastamore, or Emerils but this one is my fav!

_Images_Logo_atart_margaritaville.gif

6/18: WDW DTD/no parks We'll eat breakfast at POFQ food court, lunch at POFQ food court or maybe POR and dinner at DTD:

wolfgangpuckcafe.jpg

I also booked Captains Grille but mom was impressed with this one and I made the ADR at 6pm so we'd have plenty of time to get to Yacht and Beach to see Illuminations or Poly to see Wishes

6/19: Mom's Birthday, Father's Day, and Vero Beach:

We caved and made and ADR for the Sunday buffet at Sonya's at 1pm. The lady at Vero insisted that the meal was good and filling!

tn-sonyas.jpg

For dinner we're eating at Shutters at the resort at 8pm. We liked the menu and it's a littler cheaper than Sonya's for dinner. I think it will be a good meal! I also read that the resort pretty much dies down by 9pm so unless you go into town, there isn't much to do.

shutters.jpg

6/20: No ADRs. We'll probably eat breakfast in the room, lunch at the pool, and either get Pizza from the local pizza joint or hit up Vero Beach for dinner at Squid Lips or Capt' Hirams. I hear both places are good and are priced right.

6/21: No ADRS. We'll do breakfast in the room, lunch at the pool, and either pizza or Squid Lips or Capt' Hirams. I'm not so sure about driving 2hrs to Vero Beach and settling for pizza since we'll only be there for 3 days but we might do pizza for lunch instead!

6/22: Bye Bye Vero, HELLO POLY CL!!!

No lunch ADR. We'll snack on the lounge food. I did make dinner ADRS at Kona and Ohana but mom would like to do Kona but we'll see what dad says!

DSC02355.jpg

I made the ADRS so that we'll try the CL dinner foods before the ADRS but back in time for the dessert hour since we'll only have one night for the dinner/dessert hours.

6/23: Check-Out day. We'll do breakfast at CL, snack at CL, and maybe lunch at Capt' Cooks. We have to get a Dole Whip since we won't be at the parks!

Of course the last 2 days could change if I can get into YC/BC. :lmao:

So that's it. Not too thrilling since we aren't doing parks but it's something!

Well, that's it for this post! Sorry for it being kind of long but it is what it is!! I'll be back later this week with a TR update! Take care!!!

First of all, Kona is awesome!

Second, I love the dress in black, and those flip flops are so cute. I saw them last weekend and wish I had gotten a pair.

I think that is great idea about heading down to FL this summer

You are there so much, makes sense you go down there and get settled and hopefully can get a teaching position eventually

You got some great buys :thumbsup2

Your plans looks good :goodvibes

It's been so long since I've treated myself to a mini shopping spree like you did. What a deal though - $88 for all that stuff?! Won't get that kind of deal up here in Canada. :sad2: Your plans for the trip are shaping up pretty good!

Hooray for Epcot EMH! I always get so much accomplished as well! :)

Those Island Braids look pretty snazzy! :thumbsup2 What a great birthday!

Your shopping trip looks pretty successful! And yay for Bailey being cancer-free! :yay:

It is pretty awesome! I've eaten there once for breakfast and once for dinner and both meals were great! I love Ohana too so I'm going to keep both ADRS until it gets closer and my dad looks at menus!

I honestly can't wait. My mom I'm sure will have other thoughts on that :rolleyes1 being that she doesn't work and is a SAHM. I guess that means it will give her plenty of chances to see both her DS and DD in FL!

Thanks! Well it would have been $130 something but I had a $50 gift card but still for $130 that's pretty good considering some ppl spend that much on jeans :rolleyes1:laughing:
