My sister in law was talking all about Vero today! I thought of you They were up that way over spring break, surfing and camping and she said it is a really cute town with LOTS of shopping! I think they ate at a couple restaurants there too, I can check and give you some recommendations. She didn't go into specifics other than to say it was much nicer than she expected and she really suggested my mom and I get our booties up there for a night or 2! She's pretty particular about things, so I think you guys will have a blast there!

Thanks that would be great! I did read that they are putting in more boutique type shopping than like mom-pop type of tshirt shops but being that we have never been there we'll have nothing to compare it to! I for sure want a tshirt or something that says Vero Beach!

I've read a lot about Squid Lips and a Pizza Place next to the Disney Resort and a few others but good reviews from those 2.

I think you and mom should get your booties up there before June 19th!

Not sure about the pirate rooms The beds look super small and I thought I heard on a Dis podcast that they aren't mattresses or something odd like that?! I might have to find it in the archives and listen to it again. I've debated about doing 2 rooms at POP with D's CM Discount and it's actually $10 cheaper to do it that way than the discount room at CBR Pirate but you all know about the horror in Dec with POP so I'm not so sure I want to be quick to jump on that or pay rack rate (at this point) for CSR or POFQ.

1ST WDW MEAL OF THE TRIP!!!

HAPPY SUNDAY!!!!

I was looking through pics this morning and realized I only had 4 left from our first night so I should have finished up the first night the other night!

A family posted on the POFQ thread that they didn't have towels at the pool so of course being a good Diser that I am, I took a pic of the towel bin and posted it on the thread. They had a bunch of tornado watches/warnings this past week so maybe they had to take it down because of that. I hope they didn't take the towel bin down for good!

Anyways...

THURS MARCH 17, 2011 cont.

When I left off, I had just gotten a ton of goodies for my early Birthday/arrival! It was nearing 9pm so we thought we better head to the food court to get dinner before the food shut down!

We walked in and I saw the mugs and was thrilled!

I grabbed the pink one right away! Since we were on the DDP we had a ton of stuff to carry.

Bro decided on the Jambalaya, beignets, and smart water

Mom got ribs, beignets, and smart water

I got fried chicken, beignets, and a milk

We also got 3 new mugs! We only reuse the mugs if it's within the same year. We don't mind buying them because we know we are going to be back at least 2 or 3 times in the same year. We use them at home a ton so that's another reason why we don't mind buying them. We did "retire" the blue/white ones and our old ones from WL but use the other ones.

Our dinner was $50 and the mugs were $42. Like I said, we are huge mug people and use them often especially for breakfast, afternoon pool breaks, and at night if we get back early enough.

The food was great!! We gave it a 10/10. The dessert was wonderful but I only ate 1 since my meal was so large. I did save the 2 for breakfast in the morning but they weren't as good of course!

After dinner, we rolled back to the room, bro said goodbye so he could go home to do laundry and pack for the rest of the weekend, and mom and I unpacked!

After quick showers and watching Stacy, we were in bed by 11:30!

The Vero beach trip sounds great! I keep debating on whether or not to go to US/IOA on our October trip, I'd like to, but I hate taking time away from Disney!

Ok, your fried chicken looked amazing! As much as I loved the BC (and staying at any Deluxe for that matter), I really do miss having a decent food court at the resort.

Sooo...we are going to need to swap planning tips for Vero, because I just booked us one night in a Deluxe Studio over Memorial Day weekend! My birthday is 2 days before we arrive so its sort of a birthday gift to me. Plus we are only an hour away so we will be able to pack a lot into that day and a little the next morning. I suggested it half jokingly to my mom and she was VERY interested! So excited!

I need restaurant suggestions - what do you have so far? I will talk to DSIL and see what she knows, too.

She's more into the princessy side of things...less the frumpy aspects. She loves it a TON though. And okay I'm glad I'm not the only one that's mad about the "new" Stacy. I LOVED the old show during the Happiest Celebration on Earth and Year of a Million Dreams, etc. I was so mad when they changed it. They COMPLETELY de-frumped Stacy and I was SO angry. And they took out all the water parks stuff, like "141 feet above the deck of Blizzard Beach is a little ditty they like to call Summit Plummit. It's just you and what's left of your bathing suit doing 55 miles per hour. Straight down the chute brotha. Let's get it onnn." That was one of my favorite parts and it's gone now. Wahh.

Ugh. I have no idea about restaurants. I've read so far that Squid Lips is good (North of the resort) and the pizza place next to it is good. I want like good beach seafood at least one meal while we're there so you'll have to let me know too!!

I'm glad we did the upgrade to Ocean View Inn. For the extra money we'll have 2 queen beds and an Ocean View. If we're going to do it, why not do it right?! haha!

Now if we could only figure out flights/driving and all that jazz!

Oh My I totally agree!!! My dad turns her off after the first day or so but he still comments on how bad her new show sucks!!!
