March '11 TR: My 21 + 5 Years Birthday At WDW!! (HOME SWEET HOME) 6/24

I'm here! LOL I'm the same way the night before I leave for Disney, I'm lucky if I sleep at all, and we always take crack of dawn flights so I'm pretty much useless the first day! Our flight for October leaves at 6:40 am I think so I HOPE our room is ready when we check in so we can nap...otherwise it's gonna be a loooong day!

I don't really know anything about Vero Beach, but I'm sure it's a lot of fun! And at least you will have some WDW days in there as well, so it sounds like it could be a great vacation!

Ugh on 6:40am! I wonder if you do Online Check-In, the room will be ready?? We saw people checking in super early at POFQ last week and their rooms were ready as early as 8am!

Okay, so I can be of some assistance regarding Vero Beach. I love it there. It's a great place to go and just relax. Sit on the beach, sit by the pool, read, basically do nothing. Vero Beach/Indian River is not too far, so if you have a car, there are other places to go (shopping, movies, etc.).

The only thing to remember at the resort directly is that there are only three places (4 if you count the bar/lounge), to eat. Sonya's, Shutters, and the quick service place by the pool. If you've never been though, I suggest visiting.

We're looking to stay just 3 nights since we're unfamiliar with the area and with the room size that we will probably book, we'll hope that it doesn't rain because that will get real old with 4 adults in a small studio type room! We will have a car whether we drive or fly but take Bro's car from Orlando..but either way, we'll have a car! On a Vero Love thread it did say there are a few eating places in the area by the Disney resort..is that true??? When we would go to HHI, we would drive to restaurants so it's not a huge deal for us!

I didn't realize POFQ had queen beds now. That's a nice feature. I'll be eager to hear if you got one of the refurbished rooms or if you got stuck in building 3.

I didn't realize POFQ had queen beds now. That's a nice feature. I'll be eager to hear if you got one of the refurbished rooms or if you got stuck in building 3.

They do!!! There were only a few things that I thought made the Mods different from the Values but now with all those queen beds being added, I would for sure pay the extra $50-$100 a night just for that, not to mention the fridge, double sinks (at POFQ), larger rooms, and the pool amenities : slide, hot tubs, and towels at the pool.

There are places to eat that are in the area, so you don't have to worry if you have a car. I've never eaten there, but there's a restaurant that is called Mr. Manatee's that I've heard is pretty good. I'm sure that the CM's at the resort can direct you.

POFQ ROOM 6134

HAPPY MONDAY DIS FRIENDS!!!!!

HELLO SUMMER TRIP TICKER!!!!!!

Today mom went to AAA, they were of no help since all of their rooms were gone for the AAA discount but they did give us a FL book and said to check back. Mom decided to go ahead and book Vero Beach at the rack rate: $260 for a Studio. The only other option was a "Hotel" type room with Ocean View and that jumped up to $310 + tax so I guess if we end up with a pull-out we'll deal for 3 nights.

We're still not sure when we're arriving or departing. Summer flights are crazy expensive right now and we're waiting to see what happens with my Praxis because there are a few FL Teaching Job Fairs while we'd be down there. Hopefully it all comes together sooner rather than later!



NOW FOR THE MARCH UPDATE!!!

When I left off, we were at Check-In with CP Amanda and she was explaining to us about the resort, DDP, etc when I looked down and saw on a piece of paper the numbers I did not want to see and it started with a 3 You've got to be kidding me, out of 7 buildings 5 that are refurbished, one that is in the process of being done, and one that isn't (building 3), we get put in the only building that isn't refurbished..building 3.

I kindly asked Amanda if we could have a refurbished room, that I had requested 6 a few weeks ago, and would take any room, any building, any floor, but a refurbished room. After 20 mins on the phone with a room assigner we got building 6 room 6134..now why couldn't they do that to begin with I got my birthday button too!

We got our bags, thanked Amanda for the thousandth time, and trekked off to find our room.

We walked in and it was paradise in a room. I never saw much of a difference between a Value and Mod but with those queen beds, I'll gladly pay the extra $$ to stay at a Mod, plus you get the fridge, double sinks, and pool amenities too!

We did check the room for bed bugs but didn't find a single thing..thank goodness!!!

Building 6 was the 2nd building at POFQ to be refurbished. I did make some notes because well, we were glad the room was bug free, it wasn't exactly spot free. The dresser and night stand were a little dusty and sticky. There wasn't with a pen with our pad of paper (and we never did get one but didn't ask), there was old milk in the fridge, the shelves in the dresser were dirty with crumbs or what-not, and there wasn't an extra pillow and blanket like I've seen in the past but that might be a new thing they don't do.

After checking the bed, I got some wet ones, wiped the dresser, night stand, and shelves and the room was good as new. It took us a few mins to find the DO Not Disturb sign but we did find it. We threw the milk out as well lol.

We weren't in the room 10 mins and had a flash on our phone. It was Amanda from the front desk calling to make sure the room was in good condition! What a great touch! I forgot to fill out a guest satisfaction card for her but I am going to mail a letter like I did to WL in Dec.

After listening to the VM we got a knock on the door and we hadn't even been in the room for 10 mins. Mom, bro, and I were all in the room...

WHO COULD IT BE????????!!!!!!!!

I think a ton of people are going to be late as well

We were very happy to have Amanda and she was the most talkative check-in CM that I've ever had!! I think it helped that I told her that both Bro and I were CPs and felt her "pain" of sorts haha. We totally went out of character with her but I don't think her boss was around

Those new POFQ rooms are beautiful! I really love the purple, my favorite color! I'd love to stay there someday, it's going to be SO hard choosing between the mods, I want to stay in all of them, whenever I get a chance!
