March 11, 2006 - 7 Day Magic

Favourite Sport: Football :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: (Leslie will get a kick out of that one!!!!!)

Favourite Books/Authors: Patricia Cornwell, Kathy Reichs, Sue Grafton, Jeffery Deaver, David Baldacci, John Grisham (does anyone want to search for the bank they used in the movie The Firm when we visit Grand Cayman???) ...can you tell I like lawyer novels and murder mysteries!!!!!!

I am going to try my best to get to Florida by early Friday afternoon...but it will all depend on the weather and traffic....

WWTBAM challenge.....I'm game but I doubt I will make it to the hot seat....my fingers don't work that fast!!!!!

Leslie...I challenge you to a re-match on Buzz Lightyear!!!! I AM going to make past a Space Ranger!!!!!!

Wow! Work a few days and miss a whole lot on this board!

Books? Last one I read was US Weekly! Wait, that's a smut magazine, but I am the QUEEN of the smut magazines!

In the middle of doing my taxes so I will need this cruise!

Lime green clothing?? I don't have it, BUT will look for a lime green Mickey Mouse paint chip!

Laura,

What is the web page for the group you used for the Cozumel tour? We booked Captain Marvin's in Grand Caymen.

I love Nicholas Sparks also. Can't seem to find the time for reading but I'm hooked on books on audio in the car when traveling to work. We get great deals at the used book store. I'm listening to The Camel Club now by David Baldacci.

We trying to hold our boys off on seeing Glory Road so we can see it for the first time on the cruise.

Tammy

Hi Tammy  ,
The name of the company is http://www.eagleraydivers.com I have been emailing the lady back and forth for a little while. It doesn't seem like it is as adventurous as some of the ones I read about, but my kids are younger and I think it will be plenty wild for us.

I haven't booked yet. Still waiting for a little more confirmation about the pier situation. It seems like most people book with Captain Marvin's in Grand Cayman from what I have read here, but I can't say enough great things about Moby Dick Tours. The guy was really nice and knowledgeable. The price was pretty comparable with everyone I saw on the pier.

I listen to alot of books on tape too. That is why I don't know much about today's music unless it is something my kids like or I hear it at school. :confused3

Hmmm...choosing a favorite book is hard! I devour books. Classics I read about every two years: Candide & Winesburg, Ohio. I read Michael Crichton, Grisham, and historical fiction for fluff. I read lots of media & social criticism stuff: No Logo, Mommy Myth, Influenza, Bowling Alone (I'm a total nerd & teach a college mass media class). I just finished The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, I really liked it, so I'm thinking of reading his ugly stepsister one on vacation (seems appropriate!). Right now I'm reading "Salty Piece of Land" by Jimmy Buffet. It is set in the right location - my brain can be on our cruise every night!

Question of the day: If a movie was made of your life story, who would play you? Go ahead and cast your family too...

Laura

Let us know if you decide to book the dune buggy tour. My crew might like that also. It would be fun to know someone else that was going. Do you know how many to a dune buggy? I am assuming you need a driver's license. We have a group of 5 with 2 licensed drivers.

Tammy

That Dune Buggy thing sounds like a lot of fun. I wonder if they are standard shift... :car:because we can't drive anything but an automatic....
I guess it will be difficult to book anything outside the Disney excursions for Cozumel since we don't know if we'll end up there or not.
I have to resist excursions anyway... gotta save the $$$$$ for the big Transatlantic Repo cruise. :boat:

From what I gather from the emails with the company, they are VWs that they have redone somehow. There is a picture of one on that website I posted earlier. The website is harder to navigate now. They changed it earlier this year and I had a hard time finding the tour. I am assuming they are standard. I was told the four of us would be able to go together. I have no interest in driving! I am with Leslie, if it isn't automatic, I can't drive it! I think you can have between two and four per vehicle. I haven't booked because you have to put a deposit of $20 per person and it is non-refundable. I am not quite ready to put up that much money that I won't be able to get back if our ship doesn't go to cozumel. I am hoping that we do. I love going to that port. The price is $89 and then half price for kids under 9. How many kids are with your group? I will let you know when I book. :dancer:

Any of you that have stayed there pre cruise, can you give me some info on luggage and pick up time? I was thinking about changing to a different transport company, but my kids are really excited about riding the Disney bus and it will be nice not to have to deal with luggage. I already have the room at the Hyatt, just need some info on what to expect. Thanks! :listen:

We stayed there last year and will again this year. It was so easy! When you check in they provide you an info sheet for the cruise. Luggage goes in the hall early in the morning, then magically reappears in your stateroom. Can't beat it!

My DD9 also likes the Disney bus. The show a video on the way down and she really gets pumped up for the cruise.

:cheer2: GOOD MORNING CRUISERS!!!:cheer2:
:banana: ONLY 5 MORE WEEKS UNTIL WE CRUISE!!:banana:

I have a 9 yr old DD too. Maybe they can meet on the bus. We are also Texans! Thanks for the info about the hotel. I think that sounds like the easiest (though maybe not the cheapest) way to go for us.

Leslie---I CAN'T WAIT!! Everyday that passes I get more and more excited! I love the idea of having already "met" my fellow disers. My kids were in here last night with me, reading over my shoulder, and made their own additions to the signature! Neither one of them could decide on just one! I figured...What the heck! It makes them happy!

sk8ting mom...I am having a hard time coming up with an answer to your question of the day. I am still thinking, so don't give up on me yet. What is your answer?

I've fallen quite behind on the survey questions:
Favourite movies: Boondock Saints, Princess Bride, The Matrix
Music: old punk, industrial, new and loud, swing, blues
Books: I read sf, mysteries and horror mostly. I have a new(to me) Carolyn Hart mystery to bring on the cruise that takes place on a mystery cruise. Anyone looking for a good book that takes place in Key West should look no further than Spider Robinson's Callahan's Key .

We stayed at the Mco Hyatt last time and it was really easy. Its nice to not have to leave the airport when you fly in. We have always taken the DCL bus, but it doesnt leave till like noon. I want to be there earlier than that. So we cancelled our dcl transfers and booked a towncar with fltours. They will make a pit stop for us on the way to the port too! :thumbsup2 :cool1:
The Hyatt is also great for when you have a late flight home after the cruise. They have a day rate and you have a comfortable place to rest before your dreaded flight home. We usually do this too. Its worth the $$. We all took showers, had lunch and a nice looonng nap before out flight.

Oh Sk8ingmom - we are in the same boat :rotfl2: so to speak! DH and I used to work in television - studied mass media in college - and are addicted to local news in every town we go to.

Now as to who would play me in a movie.... :confused3

I used to think Holly Hunter - because of her role in Broadcast News (great movie!) but I am not that cute, nor do I sound like her. You've given me something to think about... (besides the cruise of course!) :teeth:

This time - five weeks from now - I hope to be sitting on the verandah and feeling completely totally relaxed!!

Mortlives - BUTTTTERCUUUUUUUP! (I love that movie too!)

MickeyMania - It is great...I am a "media scholar" therefor, I can watch the the crappiest TV in the world "for academic purposes" ! I actually have a friend who is writing her PhD dissertation on "The Swan".

OK, so I didn't answer my own question...it is a hard one! DH thinks that the new female DA on Law & Order (original one) could play me. I don't see it. I think it is his way of sitting next to me on the couch at night thinking "Gee that actress is hot!". I don't really look like her, except for long dark hair, but I think Jill Hennessy (Crossing Jordan, old Law & Order) could play me (I'm not that cute either!). HA, we probably weigh about the same, but she is 6 inches taller than me! The smart-tough-yet-feminine, sometimes-cluesless-yet-with-a-good-heart characters she tends to play is how I like to see myself.

Keanu Reeves could play my DH. Actually, I think my DH may be a better actor! He doesn't really look like him, but back in the Point Break, Speed era, people used to commet that DH looked a little like him (I never saw it - oh well)

OK nobody be dissappointed when you meet us and we are not nearly as hot as the above mentioned people!! :rolleyes1

I am now the proud owner of a lime green sundress!! I should be easy to spot on deck 10 !!!

Okay... in that light I will say that Roseanne Barr can play me and Tom Arnold can play DH. That way you will be pleasantly surprised when you meet us!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:
