March 11, 2006 - 7 Day Magic

The thread (from the main cruise board) has since been updated to state that things weren't as bad as was first thought. So, it's looking more like we will probably be going to Cozumel.

As far as Chankanaab being destroyed, that's from
http://www.cozumelmycozumel.com

I guess that is good to know. I have mixed feelings on going there. I wouldn't mind being rerouted as long as it didn't affect our days at sea. The cruise that was recently re-routed to Nassau, it did change things for them. I wouldn't mind somewhere else in Mexico either, althought the shore excursion in Cozumel is the one I am looking forward to the most. I just don't want to go somewhere that is a complete wreck either.

Frankly, it doen't matter much to me where we go! DSs are too young for most of the excursions, so our plan is to do a bit of sightseeing and hang out at the beach. We were in Nassau on the Wonder 2 years ago, it was nice, but I don't feel the need to rush back to Atlantis.

I'm with kcarl021 in hoping that our days at sea schedule doesn't get messed up. I booked Palo and spa based on sea days.

I guess I won't complain too much though - it will be warm and I will be on vacation with the aformentioned drink with an umbrela in it!

I just found out that anyone wanting hep A and B vaccines to be effective before they go should get the first shot real soon, because you need to wait 6 weeks after the second shot to be protected. Sorry, I should've posted this earlier, but I was running around trying to arrange ours.

Just wondering if anyone here has made their reservations for either Palo or the spa or excursions? I suppose you would have to be concierge level or a castaway cay member - of which I am neither :guilty: Of course when I cruise again in December 06 I will be!

Did you have any trouble getting the reservations you wanted?

Thanks!! And Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! Happy Hannukah and Happy Kwanzaa as well!! ;) :flower:

I didn't book a spa appointment this year but didn't seem to have trouble getting what I wanted last year. Of course, last year you couldn't make reservations on line or in advance so that might make a difference.

I did book my Palo reservation and did have trouble getting the time and date that I wanted. I ended up getting the date, but not the time, and there are 6 in my party and all of the large tables were completely taken for that evening. I ended up booking a table for four and one for two and maybe they will be able to put us together.

I had no trouble with the shore excursions and usually you don't have problems with those.

Hope this helps! Oh btw, I am a Castaway Club member so the concierge level got to book before me.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and Hannukah. I usually am a little disappointed when all the excitement wears down after New Years - but since we have the cruise to look forward to :sunny: - I guess the disappointment will have to wait until March 18! :rotfl2:

Can I start packing now??? (Oh by the way - took advantage of the sales yesterday and got some great evening wear!!)

I made my ressies the first day it was available for CC members. Couldn't get the time I wanted for Palo brunch for 4, but got my first choice Palo dinner for 2 and couples massage times.

I agree with MickeyMania - it is nice to have something to look forward to during the post-holiday funk! There is still ALOT of winter left up here.

...but not for the time that I hoped (or day for that matter!) I seriously woke up at 2:55am and kept refreshing my screen until it let me make reservations at exactly 3am! :crazy2:

There was only one day for brunch left open - Sunday I believe. So I took it. And while I got my Thursday dinner at Palo - it's kind of late. But I am not complaining!

SK8INGMOM - how old are your kids? I know you mentioned it here on the board before - but I can't find. Mine are 3 and 6. (girl and boy)

We were so excited on Christmas Eve! We are leaving a tad bit early, but on Christmas Eve, we were 2 months, 2 weeks, and 2 days away from the cruise!

I am enjoying the holidays because come Jan 1 it's diet time! Fitting into a swimming suit in March is just torture!

Amen to that! DH & I ate whatever we wanted when we were "home" in Ohio for Christmas - now there is no more eating until the cruise! Also, we'll be easy to find...we'll be the glow-in-the-dark-white family by the pool the first day!

MickeyMania - My boys are 5 & 7 so they can go clubbin' with your 6yo!

Happy Holidays, everyone!

I was actually getting a bit nervous, because Monday and Tuesday were statutory holidays up here, and our final payment wasn't made by CAA until today. However, I guess Disney's used to that. We managed to get our reservations for Xcaret, so I guess we're good to go! Past the point of no return, and all that. :maleficen

Aside from that, I'm debating doing Grand Cayman on our own, or trying the Stingray City Snorkel Sail (say that 5 times fast).

How's everyone's planning going? Excited now that we're PIF?

I guess "cut and paste" made it easy!

We aren't booking anything for Key West- been there many times and know where we are going. We also have friends who are stationed there, so plan to hook up with them. I think we are heading to Paradise Beach for most of the day in Cozumel (assuming we dock there) & I'm thinking about one of the submarine-thingy tours in Grand Cayman. Those are only 1.5 hours so I'm not sure what else we will do there.

My cruise plan is to RELAX. We are going to WDW for 6 days after the cruise and we are sort of a 'commando family' in the parks!

Welcome Aboard to our new shipmates!

Won't be long now... Just seems like it. :teeth:

Ahoy there mates! We just booked this cruise today. We like to plan ahead but just didn't get it done for this year's spring break. We have 3 DS 9, 12 and 14. The Palo and sea day spa reservations are completely gone as are some of the excursions. I guess we are lucky to have a room! Maybe we will be lucky with the reservations after boarding.
