March 10, 2012 - Eastern on the Magic

I'm a total newbie, but would love to join the FE and the meet if possible. Will be traveling with my grandaughter, age 9 and just myself (the Grandma, age 47).

Just booked this as a *relatively* last minute Spring Break cruise & cannot wait! Thought I'd pop over here and say !

Welcome! Glad to have you join us. Looks like the deadline for the FE group is Feb 10, so you just made it! Please PM papertraveller with your details, like stateroom number if you know it, and your names and email address.
Happy planning!

I went to Aquatica last year with my then 8 yr old grandaughter. It was fun, not as well themed as Disney water parks, but good slides, etc. I don't think I would pay separately for it, but it came as part of our Discovery Cove admission so it was a good deal for a hot afternoon.

You've reached your 10 posts! You can now send a PM to papertraveller to get on the FE list ...:cool1:

This is what we have planned for the day after the cruise. You prefer Disney's? We've only been to Blizzard Beach and did like it.

I think Disney's theming overall was better, but if you haven't done Aquatica yet, I'd try it for a different perspective! the slide with the dolphins under was very cool-my grandaughter 9 loved it!

And, thanks for the tip off on the 10 posts...I was trying to get to the point of being able to send the PM off re: the FE. Glad I found out about that, and thanks for the welcome to the group!

We had considered this but since they close fairly early decided it was not worth the money. We got a good rate at a Marriott vacation club propert (2 brm) we decided to hang there for the day and fly home on Sunday morning.

Welcome! I have added you both to the Roll Call on page 2, and MsGrandma (you youngster!!) I have added you and DGD to the FE list as well. I received your PM and have replied with a few more details.

And to everyone on the FE list, please watch for an email sometime over the weekend. I will post on the main board here when I send the final list through. Please do let me know if you don't receive it!

Cheers!

Hi all,
I am a first time cruiser and excited to have found this thread. I am quickly looking all over for explanations on some of the things I'm reading. Like FE??

We are long time Disney visitors but first time on a Disney Cruise. Going with my DH and DS (did I use that right?) We are celebrating my 40th birthday!

Any celebration tips for the cruise would be great. We are at sea on my bday and would welcome family suggestions as well as adults only. We already decided not to hit Palo so we can spend dinner together.

Thanks for your help! Soooooooo excited!

:welcome: Janette! How old is your DS? I think a Palo brunch would be lovely and relaxing on your bday. Or time in the rainforest room either alone or with DH is also a lovely way to spend an hour or 2. We love to spend time with our DS too, and prefer quiet together time but that is hard to find! When he was younger I loved dance parties, now maybe basketball or even shuffleboard is fun. He loves a pizza party by the pool on a sea day. There are lots of family activities all day, but they are group activities - drawing characters, bingo, etc... If you can get everyone up out of bed and see the sunrise at sea, on your milestone bday (been there this year too!), that would be lovely! Hope you find something special.

Hi Janette311 and welcome!

Have you checked out the sticky at the top of the forum? It has so much info on Disney cruising.......( some points are a little outdated) . It is very informative for first time cruisers.

Thanks for the great info..my DS is 4. We did a cruise last year and he loved camp so I'm sure he will give us some private time. I've seen some info on the Rainforest room, wondering about that. Might consider that a little more and then some time with DS later.

Absolutely LOVE the idea of sunrise at sea..and yes, I have a 4 yr old, we are up EARLY! Am totally starting my day that way! yay!!

thanks again for great welcome.

I love early mornings too (and late nights, hence afternoon naps too!). So, if I see you out and about, I'll wish you a happy b-day. Hope to see you at the cruise meet.

So I know that you can sometimes go onto the ship and book things that were "sold out" earlier. I'm looking at Tea at Palo's for Sunday. Does anyone know if I will be able to go on the ship when we board and get squeezed in?

Thanks!

Welcome Janette311! I have added you and your family to the Roll Call on page 2. It's really just a list of all the DISers who are onboard.

If you are interested in the FE (that's Fish Extender) -- it's really sort of like a Secret Santa gift exchange. If you wish to participate (we have set a deadline of Feb. 10 to commit), just say so and get your post count up to 10. Then you can PM me your details (email, stateroom number).

As to your Palo question, I believe you go onboard to RockNBarD to try and get those reservations. Other DISers, what say you? I have read on these boards that DCL does reserve some seats for people who book onboard. Good luck!

Well, our cruise is officially off Disneycruise line website.....
So I guess we are sold out!

Not sure if thats a good thing or not......

Thanks for the warm welcome Papertraveller! I am so psyched for this cruise and happy to be among other geeky Disney travelers like myself. :) I even convinced my DH to wear matching shirts. It's taken 6 years to get him to do this...guess he can't say no to me on my birthday!
