March 10, 2012 - Eastern on the Magic

I'm working away on our FE. Not very crafty, so it could be humourous!
Looking forward to the meet. Especially looking for all 8-10 year old boys to meet DS. He loved the lab last time, but a couple of friends would make it so much better. Might be fun to face time or skype with the ds's a bit beforehand, if anyone is interested.

Soooo exciting!!!

I have a question for those of you who have done this before... I was thinking about breakfast and lunch. Do we eat those in the same "restaurant" that we eat dinner at? Is there a rotation for those meals? I see lots of different things like burgers and dogs at a smaller place and then a buffet place. Is that where we get breakfast and lunch? Also, for the last day (when we get into port) I see that they give a time for breakfast -do we have breakfast time for all the other days?

Sorry if this seems like a silly nuance question, I'm just more curious than anything. I know we are not going to starve!! :rotfl2:

Oh -I just thought of another question. We will be taking the shuttle from the airport to the port on Saturday morning. Will there be anywhere we can stop to buy some liquor/wine? Or should I try to hit the duty free in the airport?

Thanks much and can't wait to meet everyone and RELAX!!! :cool1:

Our luggage tags arrived today ... along with the snow!

As for breakfast, I recall that there was usually one table service breakfast restaurant open each morning. It's not based on where you ate the night before -- you can just walk in and enjoy. I think on our last cruise that Sunday morning breakfast was at Lumiere's, and the wonderful thing was no one was there so it was blissfully relaxing.

The one breakfast that is tied to your evening dining rotation is the character breakfast -- the details will be in your room, plus your servers should give you the full briefing. Maybe someone can remind me, but I think it was the morning after you dine in Animator's Palate? :confused3

You can also find a buffet breakfast at Topsiders on Deck 9, plus Goofy's Galley has a nice selection of quick breads, fruit, yogurt parfaits and such. I love this locale for great wraps and sandwiches at lunchtime, too. You'll see me here most morning when I head upstairs early to get coffee and hot chocolate -- DD and DH are hooked on the yogurt now!

As to wine, what shuttle are you referring to? If it's Disney, they'll be taking you straight to the port, no stops. But if you've hired a car service, I understand that many of them will include one stop for provisions.

There is a Publix on A1A about a mile south of the port, on the west side of the road. You'll probably, ahem, bump into us there too!! :rolleyes1

Hi mommaC,

There are no silly questions.....we've all been there! I can try to answer some for you....
You can have breakfast at the buffet on deck 9 - topsiders - think of a caffeteria style....but there are chairs/ tables outside as well as inside. We usually go here on port days to get in and out quickly. OR you can choose a buffet style breakfast at Parrot Cay ( which is a one of the three rotational restaurants) and here you will have a waiter take your drink order, bring you coffee, but you chose your food, buffet style with fresh ready to order omlettes. And our favorite option is Lumieres. The nicest of the three rotational restaurants. Here you will have full service and wonderful options. You do not need reservations, you just show up during the serving times( check you daily navigator for times).
For lunch, again you have the option of topsiders on deck 9 but also Pinnocchios pizzeria, plutos doghouse or goofy's gallery....all on Deck 9, all take out food. And there is always room service as well, which is free of charge, but you do tip the delivery.
There is never a shortage of places to eat!

As far as alcohol at the airport.....I tried to find a place to buy alcohol, no luck. Maybe someone else knows of a place close.....We now, usually have a car service pick us up and make a special stop. The Disney transportation will not make a stop for booze.
Hope that helps!

Paper traveller.......

I forgot about the character breakfast!;)
My kids haven't wanted to do that in a while.....
That was so much fun!

Also Cove cafe has some yummy treats too!

Is this the best place to buy alcohol? I have never been to a Publix.
We usually end up at ABC liquor....about 5 mins down the road past the port.( past the Budget rental car)
If Publix has a good selection, then maybe you will see us there as well!

It's so weird to be able to purchase alcohol at a grocery store.... Not use to it! Much more convenient though!

We received our tags today. Anyone remember when we find out the dinner times and rotations?

Dining times are already on your reservations......so either early or late.
Early is 5:45
Late is 8:15

Your rotation is on your key to the world card- we will receive it at check in. :thumbsup2

So excited to hear everyone is getting their luggage tags! Now if only ours had come in the mail today.... I will just have to not so patiently wait for the mail tomorrow! :rolleyes1

I am finally completely done with my dissertation and defense, and got to celebrate this weekend by working a bit on our Fish Extender gifts!!! :cool1: I am so excited to be able to fully focus on the really important things in life, like our cruise!

In case anyone is interested......

When we first moved to Florida I took a picture of the liquor section in Target and sent it to my friends back in in NJ. It was so strange! Right up there with pumping my own gas!

No tags again today for us. Here's hoping for tomorrow.

No tags for hubby and his crew today.

On a different topic, can we tip the kids club attendants with money? I read suggestions of calling cards. Also, how many attendants per club? And, how about the Edge, are the attendants as involved with the kids and be included in the tipping? We have 3 kids and 3 different clubs!

TIA

The ABC is closer to the port, for sure.

We'll be making the Publix stop because we also pick up some water and soda, as well as a few snacks for the shows. This one is a full store with wine and beer inside, plus it also has a separate liquor store in the same plaza.

I figure we will need to stock up on sunscreen too, so will swing by Walgreens or CVS. Prices are definitely better in Florida for that!

Oh, and we've had back-to-back Disney deliveries now. An envelope with our Magical Express vouchers arrived today.

We got our tags yesterday - tried to post but laptop pooched on me!

Not much time now folks! Looking forward to meeting you all in person ... and seeing you again Cathryn!
