March 10, 2012 - Eastern on the Magic

Luggage tags have arrived here too. I had to call DCL as they had only put us on bus transfers for after the cruise, nothing for from the airport to the port. Lucky I noticed, so now that is sorted out.
Whie on the phone I asked if anything had been added for the 18-21 year old crowd now that the 18yr old high schoolers are not allowed in the teen club. I was told no, but if enough of that age group request that things are organised for them something will probably be done... so i am hoping that there is a group of 18-21 year olds that want to meet up and do some things and ask for them ( not for me , I'm a bit older than that but for my son ).

These are the movies that will be showing on our cruise:-
Toy Story 3 3D
Gnomeo and Juliet 3D
Tangled 3D
Pirates of the Caribbean 4
Winnie The Pooh
Real Steel
War Horse
Cars 2
The Help
The Muppets

Well not long now... happy packing everyone.

Thank you Kingdom keeper. Did you ask what movies are playing? I'm happy with that selection as there are a couple that I'm dying to see. I read the Help but missed the movie, and I'd like to see War Horse. Anyone see War Horse? Is it an adult movie? Too much for DS9?

Yes, I asked what will be playing while on the phone to DCL last night.
The Help is good, not as good as the book but still good. I couldnt tell you about War Horse, will probably watch that while on the ship.

Bummed. No packet yet and we found out our final air travel times via travel agent and we will miss the Meet @3pm...as we will be most likely checking in / just arriving at the port....

I did see that Pirate Night is listed as Tuesday night when I checked us in online though....

Just found this thread..we are long time Disney World vacationers (c'mon, we live in Florida) and been on tons of cruises, but this is our first Disney Cruise. Sooo excited. Will be celebrating my 40th birthday and doing it with my hubby and 4 yr old boy! Looking forward to learning more from all of you...

I was really hoping to upgrade on this cruise but it does not look likely. I just called and only inside and porthole rooms still open. Still hoping something pops and we get some luck.

We were hoping to upgrade too.
Oh well...
Not going to worry about it. We are hardly in our room.

I am so looking forward to this trip!
Does everyone have their excursions booked?$

No excursions for us, but I finished our FE this afternoon! Looks good!

Still no mail packet for hubby and crew... Should I be worried about it? Should I be calling DCL?

We haven't gotten our luggage tags yet, but I know they have to go to our TA first so I would expect them to take a little while longer to get to us. Doesn't help that we are having a good sized snow storm and I'm not sure what that will do to the mail for the next few days...

We have scheduled our excursions with the exception of Castaway. We want to do the stingray thing there, but the DCL website won't let me book it because it thinks our DD is too young. You have to be 5 to do it and she turns 5 THAT day. So, I figure we can try to book it once we're on the ship and able to talk to someone. It would make sense that the website doesn't realize the change in her age for that ONE day princess:

I haven't started our FE gifts yet, but I have a plan -wish me luck as I'm the first to admit I'm not so great with the "crafts"... I am planning on taking a day off of work to work on them. Actually, speaking of the FE gifts does anyone have a girl under the age of 16 that does NOT like Rapunzel?? It would be helpful to know that so I can plan differently. Thanks!

Oh, and thanks everyone for the information about breakfast and lunch I had earlier!! You guys/girls are the best!! :goodvibes

I was kind of hoping to upgrade as well...imagine how many people must be thinking the same. I figured it would be a full boat. Seems to be a very popular cruise week. The islands will be hopping!

Got my FE finished tonight and am working / thinking on the gifts. Got my dress picked out too, and soon it will be time to start packing.

Anyone else doing the St Thomas Turtle Cove and Honeymoon Beach?

Sunshine is on the way!

We booked the Turtle cove excursion, but the half day excursion.... We want to shop for a bit in town. Hoping it will be warm.....:cool2:
We booked a private tour with Bernard in St. Maarteen.
We were hoping to get a cabana at Castaway Cay, but they were already all sold out at midnight at the 90 day mark.....oh well, that's $500 dollars that I'm sure I will have spent somewhere else....
Those darn platinum and concierge cruisers! Lol!

I did book alone time in the spa!:) I have been wanting to do it for all the past cruises, but just couldn't spend the money on myself....this year, I am going for it!

Has anyone done " Alone Time".......would love to hear about it!

I am pretty sure booked the full day version. Looking forward to this.

We did this when my DD had just turned five and she hated it. I thought she would like it as she loved all animals, but obviously not stingrays.

We will just hang out on CC this time.

Five weeks to go

Yes, every time We google it, it's all wonderful reviews.

We ended up booking a private tour as we were worried about Orient beach being packed! I was hoping to visit Pinelle(?) beach, or somewhere else, quieter and off the beaten path.

Has anyone been to St. Martin before? Is the shopping better here then St. Thomas? Jewelry, clothing and booze........:confused3:

Is anyone else super worried about doing beaches on our own given how CROWDED the islands will be? The port traffic shows something like 8ships in on our day at St. Maarten!!! We really don't have any plans after noon on St. Maarten, but I'm afraid of the traffic if we get a cab.

Has anyone been to these islands during spring break time? Am I just paranoid, or do you think that if we left the ship after lunch for a couple of hours on a beach we would be ok?

How much time would you allow to get back?

We have been on several Disney Magic Spring Break cruises. We have not booked ship excursions for a long time. We have had no problem getting off the ship in St. Martin and taking the water ferry to the main beach that you can see from the ship. There are several bars that have sections and getting cocktails served to you on the beach is no problem. The same for food. We walk to the ferry station as you exit where the ships are docked, pay the fee and no problem. I even went shopping once into town while my DH and DD stayed on board. I went back and met them then off to the beach.

Shopping. I like St. Martin a lot. The prices for me have been a bit better in St. Martin than St. Thomas. The difference is in the the allowances preduty.
You will be able to buy more in St. Thomas than in St. Martin. Now, we have had some pricey purchases in St. Martin such that we had to pay duty. The duty owed wasn't really the horrible amount we dreaded. What is nice is that some of the shops in St. Martin also have stores in St. Thomas. That is a plus if the item you bought isn't the correct size, as in my case, or if you have problems.

Looking forward to March 10th! We were at the Port today and watch the Magic leave. Hard to believe we, the March 10th cruisers, will be on the last Saturday leaving Magic 7 day Eastern. My husband discovered that Disney is changing up the Magic and there will be some short cruisers then a 7 day Eastern but leaving on Friday, not Saturday before the ship moves to a different home port. We were on the first 7 day ever by Disney. A 7 day Eastern with a Saturday to Saturday rotation (before the Western was added) and now we are on the last 7 day Eastern by the Magic that is on the Saturday to Saturday rotation. It really did surprise me. It also makes me sad.
