March 10, 2012 - Eastern on the Magic

Hi Kathy!

And welcome to the meet!

Not to start off on a bad note.....but you should be aware that as of now there are 8 ships in port at St Thomas when were are there.
The Disney Magic
Norwegian Sun
Carnival Glory
Celebrity Solstice
Eurodam
Grand Princess
Noriegen Epic
And.....Freedom of the Seas.

With a port load of ..:scared1::scared1: 23,532 people :scared1::scared1:

In St. Martin,
There will be 6 ships:
Disney Magic
Adventure of the sea
Noriegen Epic
Celebrity Eclipse
Grand Princess
As well as ....Windsurf?? Which might not be a big ship.

Port load 18,178 passengers.

So, in 5 cruises, this is the most ships in port we have ever encountered.
Just thought you should know. Not trying to upset you, but I think we should know what we are in for.....

We will make the best of it. I know St. Thomas has two docking areas, Havensight ( where we dock) and another one that Eurodam docks at...
So hopefully things will work out. I know we are listed as the first to arrive.

Did I scare everyone away with this info??? LOL!
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

Ahh RATS! Darn it, that means most likely no going up to Paradise PT. unless, we get up early. The Celebrity ship is huge if I remember correctly. Maybe we will book a St. John's excursion thru DCL. Believe it or not, we have never done that. We have chartered a boat for a day with a captain back in 2005 when we stayed on St. Thomas and we did see St. John's but never on a DCL excursion. We also might go over to the Marriott (sp?) and have lunch on the beach by Morning Star. That is where we stayed for a week back in 2005.

St. Martin should not be bad. It is strange but that port seems to do OK with several ships. We had the Freedom and the Carnival largest ship in port back in 2010. The poor Magic looked itty bitty!

Right now DH is trying to figure out flights. We still don't know if our daughter will be going or if she will be doing the Disney College program. So many things to figure out.

I must say, that new Port Canaveral web cam is awesome! Now only if it had sound. LOL.

Kathy

Please add us to the roll call. We booked last week. Our party consists of:
Me
DH
DDs 18, 16, 14, 11

This will be our 6th Disney cruise. Our most recent was January of this year. We did a western/eastern back to back.

Very excited to be sailing again!

Also, if anyone has to cancel or change their reservation please get in touch with me. We are on board but not with the stateroom category that we would pefer. We really want a category 10 or below. So if anyone would have to change and currently have one of those categories, please let me know so that I can have my agent grab it at the same time it is released. Thank you! 

Add us to the list of cruisers. We were suppose to be on this cruise this past March but DH was not in the mood. We have been on a DCL cruise every year since 1999. I guess he needed a break. We ended up a Kidani Village and split the stay at our second home in Champions Gate (10 min. southwest of Disney). We now are missing our ocean time. It was March 2010 when I last got to have some sea time and beach time.

It will be me, my husband and daughter who is 19. This is her first year with no teen club. She is looking forward to spending time on the beach, at the adult pool area and at Serenity Bay.

Welcome! I have added you to the roll call -- please just let me know if you're interested in the FE as we get closer to sailing time!

I have added you to the roll call. How wonderful it must have been to do a 14-day back to back!

We just got back from a week on the Atlantic coast, and then a week at WDW. Had a marvellous time, but everyone is cranky now getting back to home. Guess that's to be expected when work and school loom.

We did our best to talk up the cruise to the good folks we met, so we'll see what develops!

Happy long weekend everyone!

Speaking of "big" ships. We woke up one morning next to the epic. While walking to breakfast on deck 9, we all thought we had docked next to a hotel. All we could see were balcony rooms, lol.

Our excursion in St. Thomas was the skyride and shopping at the little center just below the skyride where other ships were docked. The skyride was great, and we picked up some souvenirs in the shops. After that, we took a taxi back to the ship and shopped a little in the little tents by the ships.

In St. Marteen we had beach and shopping time. I loved the shopping there and so did the girls. There was a trampoline/slide anchored off the beach that the girls really enjoyed too.

Definitely add us to the FE list. We really enjoy doing that. The only time we didn't participate was our first couple of cruises when we did know about it. Fun activity!

Yes, the FE is fun! DH says we should pass this time cause he thinks it will be hard to prepare for with the kids not knowing about the cruise. I'll just have to make sure I do everything while they are at school. Plus, on the PC cruise in Jan, we had almost 100 cabins participating and we didn't split the group. I had an entire suitcase just for gifts! Yes, it was fun and we got some AWESOME gifts but I don't think I'd want a group that large again.

Hey all! Just wanted to pass along that I just switched over the Wonder Mexican Riviera cruise March 11, 2012. Airfare to CA is cheaper and I was able to get a balcony for $400 cheaper than my OV room on this cruise. Plus, we really loved Cabo last time and really want to do whale watching again. Hope everyone has a great time in the Eastern Caribbean!

I have updated the list accordingly!

This is our family's first cruise ever and we are super excited to be taking a Disney Cruise!!!! party: Now if we can just figure out all about these FE thingies and how that works we'd be laughing:rotfl:

Hi new Friends! We had so much fun last year on the Eastern Caribean cruise that we are back again! Please add us to the FE list.

We are getting a nice crew together! We'll have to plan a DIS Meet. We have our flights booked to arrive the day before the cruise and leave the day after, so now it's on to figuring out what we want to do on those days. We are contemplating Aquatica. Anyone been there?

Welcome! I have added you to the roll call, and once you figure out "these FE thingies", let me know if you'd like to join the group. Also, please let me know how many people in your sailing party.

Our DD loves the FE -- think of it like a Secret Santa. She loves coming back to the room and seeing what goodies have been generously left behind. She's received everything from CDs to pirate kits to notebooks and pens and all kinds of Disney stuff.

6 of us are taking a Disney cruise for the first time! Please add us to the FE list - I've heard that it's lots of fun for the kids. Thank you!

Welcome -- I've added you to the list! If you'd care to let me know who's in your sailing party, I'll add those details too.

Welcome! I have added you to the list. The Eastern itinerary is wonderfully relaxing. We did a lot of snorkelling last time, and are hoping to spend a lot of time "in" the Caribbean again in March.

Yes, we should definitely have a meet. On our last two cruises, we had fun get-togethers at 3 p.m. in the Promenade Lounge (just behind Lumieres, but not as far down the hallway as Parrot Cay). The kids found friends almost instantly, it seemed!

We just booked our time before the cruise too - we are at Wilderness Lodge and will be playing at the parks for a couple days. Haven't done Aquatica, but it does look interesting!

Hi there, So I've been doing my research and the FE sounds like fun and my family would definitely like to join. There are 4 of us sailing (Me, DH and DDs 10 & 7).
