March 10, 2012 - Eastern on the Magic

Hello all!

First post on the boards. I will be taking this cruise (my first Disney cruise) with you all! I will be traveling with my DH and DS (2yrs old). My grandmother and mom may be coming as well (they are still trying to make up their minds). I'm really looking forward to it. I have learned tons in just a few days on the board.

Oh, I'd like to participate in the Fish Extender please.

Well, my grandmother is not going to come (at least that is what she says now). So it will be me, DH, DS and my mom.

Welcome! I have updated our post #18 on page 2 with your details. And I echo DundasDad's offer.

You will all have a wonderful trip!

We had to move from a 5 day Dream in August, 12 to this one in March. We did the same cruise in Nov, 10 and loved it. Would have loved to do the new ship, but it just wasn't going to work out.

Roll Call:

Me 44
DW 44
DS 10
DD 6

Welcome carmie3377! Here's hoping that all of the moving arrangements fall nicely into place and you're able to make the cruise!
Thank you! I haven't visited the disboards much we are still not certain that we will be on this cruise but we are really hoping for it, especially since both of the kids will have birthdays during the week. What better way to celebrate?!?

Anyone have any other Disney trips in the works? DH and I are planning on going to Orlando in November for a conference he has to attend. But we won't get to stay on Disney property as his work wouldn't pay for it that way :( Still don't know how we'll work out getting to/from the parks but I'll figure it out. The first couple of days DH will have to/want to attend the conference so I'll just go solo. But he'll join me the last 2 days for some park time :goodvibes In December, I plan on returning with the kids and DD's best friend. She's a Disney nut too but never has been during the holidays. My BFF and her kids are going to try to join us as well. We'll be staying in AKV Kadani Village and are really excited about it.

Anyway, hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. It's HOT, HOT, HOT here and DRY too! We so need some rain.

Oh yeah, looked at the list of whose and only I was listed. It will be:
Me (Carmen): 35
DH (Jarrod): 36
DD (Haley): 12, turning 13 on the cruise
DS (Cameron): 5, turning 6 on the cruise

Welcome! I have added you to the list on page 2. The Dream's loss is our gain!

Carmie, I sure hope you and the family are able to make it. My DD will be 12 and a half by then, and she's always looking for new cruise friends!

Oh, and as to the question of other Disney trips planned?

We suffer from DVC ownership, and have crazy planning spreadsheets and such. At this point, we have the next four visits booked which takes us to this cruise.

I have "half-booked" another, which means I haven't bought the airfare. Still not sure if I'm going to keep that booking. But it's fun to have a wishlist.

How do you like DVC? We looked at it a few years ago and decided against it. We already have another time share and thought we would use it to see other places. Turns out almost every vacation has been to Disney anyway.

We just got back from 3 days at Disneyland (a month ago now). Don't say anything Becky (DSis who is a lurker). It was great. The weather was just right, sunny but not too hot. The lines weren't bad. Only issue was that we went there while they were having grad night celebrations and they closed early the nights we were there. We really enjoyed the World of Color show.

Hi there, looks like our son's will be similar in age. He'll be a few days shy of his 10th bday while on cruise. Let me know if he'd be interested in emailing with my ds closer to sailing.

As for future Disney trips, DS and I are planning a trip just the 2 of us in November. I like that time of the year when it's not too crowded. DH is a teacher and can only get away at peak times.

Just booked this cruise yesterday! We were on the March 13-17 Dream last March and decided it was great but too short. (Too bad I didn't rebook while onboard...we didn't think we'd be returning so soon!) Looking forward to a longer trip with more days at sea to relax and enjoy the activities. Our crew is me, DH, DS17, DS15. Can't wait! :cool1:

Hey from Pearland! My good friend and neighbor just moved to Cypress and loves it there. I like to go up to the outlet mall and hit the new Disney Store Outlet. The first weekend they opened I found some great things from Disneyland but the last couple of times I haven't been as successful. Still worth the visit every once in awhile though!

Anyway, welcome aboard!!!!

Hi! It's funny...I live less than five minutes from the outlet mall and have yet to make it to the Disney Store. Maybe I'll check it out today.:) We used to live in Friendswood and still have several friends in the area. We could have some friends in common! Thanks for the welcome aboard. Looking forward to getting to know those of you here.
( If I make it to the outlet store I'll let you know if there is anything worth the trip for you.:thumbsup2)

I was told that they get new park merchandise at the end of every month and that it takes them about a week to get it all out. Now is probably a good time to go then. My mom lives close to another Disney Outlet in the Dallas area and I plan on going there next week. Here's hoping we both find some great deals!!!!

So far we are very happy with our DVC membership. We find the points program pretty easy to use, and are comfortable with the 11-month booking windows. Our home resort is BLT -- we usually just get a studio for the three of us, and although it's crowded it's just fine. We love the lakeview.

We also stayed at Animal Kingdom Kidani, which was really great too. Totally different feel. And earlier this year we stayed at Vero Beach before the cruise, and loved it.

Welcome! I've added you to the roll call on page two. As the date gets closer, let me know if you're interested in joining the FE exchange.

I booked this cruise for DS (8yo) and I last week!!:cool1::banana: This will be our second Disney Cruise. Our first was a 3 night on the Wonder. We had a blast but we didn't get to do as much on the ship as I would have liked. The cruise will be during DS's spring break. We can't wait!!1

Welcome aboard! We have done two four night cruises. They aren't long enough either. Can't wait to do the 7 night.

Do you use the DVC points for your cruises?

Sorry for the delayed answer. If you son likes sports and video games I'm sure they will get along great. My son absolutely loved the lab last fall when we cruised.

For the poster who asked about DVC we love ours. Been members since 2000 and have added on twice. All our points our at Vero Beach. For this upcoming cruise we broke the points bank and used points for all four of us. Last cruise we used enough points for one adult and one child.

Thought I'd throw out some discussion on excursions. We did the French side beach trip last Fall on St. Maarten. Will probably do this again as the kids loved it. The beach was nice, and the food was surprisely good for a beach side grill. The only negative was the beach chairs were really crammed together. Hardly any room to move, but we spent most of the time in the water anyway.

Our St. Thomas excursion was cancelled due to weather. We were supposed to do Magen's Bay Beach. We'll probably look to do that again.

I think this go around we'll probably just hang on the beach at CC.
