March 1-5, 2009 Wonder Cruise

Just checking in gang. The time is almost here :cool1:

We have been doing a few little things as well. I have made some business cards with our name, address, phone, e-mail, etc. for my DW and I as well as my DD 15 so if we make some new friends then we can just give them a card to stay in contact.

My DW also had me buy Disney shirts for everyone. She wanted to do the matching thing and she wants to put our last name on the back so they match as well. I told her that that might be a little much because our girls are 6,8,15 and they all know what their names and such are by now ;)

She told me to mind my business and that I make my plans for the trip and she will make hers so I had to finally put my foot down and when it was all said and done I guess I will be wearing a Disney t-shirt with my name on the back :rotfl2:

Anyway, as for getting there, we have decided to drive. We are coming from Ohio so we will be leaving out Friday night. We have booked a room at the Raddison At The Port and will be staying there Saturday and relaxing to get ready for the cruise.

We are coming in a group of 10 and my mother has trouble getting around and walking and wears down easy so we thought it might be best to get there the day before so she can rest up.

Also, I want to go to the Grills restaurant that's right on the water where you can sit out on the deck and watch the ships come sailing in right in front of you. I heard it was an awesome site and that the Disney ship usually comes in around 5PM on Saturday. I don't know if that's always true or not, that's just what I heard.

Anyway, the whole gang is pumped and ready to go.

See you all soon...

Donnie

So what kind of weather should we expect this time of year in the Bahamas? Is the water warm? I read something about Sealice? Has anyone had any encounters with this? Also I have an excursion planned from 3- 4 on Castaway Key, will I make it to get out DS at the child care and then back on the boat for Main seating dinner?

The temps should be 65-75+ and from what I am hearing the water might be a tad bit chilly when you first get in but you get used to it quickly and after that it's fine. I've also heard that it's not bad at all and warm when you enter it. If you are from the northern part of the U.S. as we are it should feel like a nice jump in the pool in June or July. That's just what I'm hearing though.

As for the sea lice, go to buysafesea.com. We are taking a couple of bottles with us and I have heard good things about it. It's basically a sun tan lotion that protects you from getting stung by jellyfish and sea lice.

Not sure about the dinner thing. This is my first cruise as well so I don't about timing this stuff yet ;)

Hope this helps,

Donnie

Hello! :wave2:
It's late in the planning, but with only 33 days to go, count me in, too! I
loved my first DCL cruise in 2006 and am really looking forward to another ride on the Wonder! It's awesome to see how friendly you all are about it. Do we have to wait to get on the ship to find out which evening is pirate night or is it still Tuesday night?

Hi runskyhy! :flower3: And welcome to our cruise meet thread! I don't know the answer to your question for sure, but I think pirate night is Tuesday night.pirate:

that we need some sort of fun name for our cruise meet??? I keep seeing other cruise meets with these creative names and wishing that we had one too. Any brilliant ideas??

Sealice? Ok, I'm going to have to google that one!

Being snowed in REALLY makes me want to be on the cruise! I could sure use some sunshine and warm tropical breezes right about now!

Well were not actually snowed IN but it is way too cold to be running around and doing anything! Me and the baby are just sitting at home and im stalking the DIS boards! BTW the sealice things has me terrified to go in the water at all!

So I just booked me and DH on a parasailing excursion at CC. What excursions does everyone else have planned? I really want to try it but im kind of scared too!

We are also doing it 10-11 what time for you? Also, I fould some repellant online for Sealice you can buy a sunblock that has the repellant in it! I read some other boards on here and people were saying that they got stung in the water by these tiny little sealice! So I am going to get some of this lotion!

I hear you on the snow, we are in Maine and March 1st can not come soon enough! I need out of winter!

It is so nice to have so many people as excited as I am. On really cold days, like today, I just close my eyes and go to my happy place. I have read so many trip reports, I can almost imagine every aspect of the cruise. I just hope it lives up to all of my dreams and expectations! :thumbsup2

starmom, I did it once in Mexico and it was a little scary but you go up so gently and it's so quiet when you are up there. It's wonderful and you will love it!

Do you think they will let you choose how high you go or is it all very high? I have watched some clips on Youtube and it looks scary! I still want to at least get on the boat and see how I feel. I am so excited I can't even stand it! Can't it just be here already!

Alright. I have to do something to channel all of this energy. I am so excited I just don't know what to do with myself! Maybe we could start telling each other one thing a day that we have done to get closer to going. (my DH STILL says it too early to pack!):upsidedow Yesterday I went and bought a new dress to wear to our Palo dinner. BTW Macys has some fabo clearance prices! Today I am going to go to the store and buy more sunscreen. Anyone else wanna play?

starmom, I don't recall that they let me choose how high....but it wasn't Disney either...It's SO gentle. I am terrified of heights and I was fine with it.
