Marathon Weekend Weather - Version 2012

Disney wants you to be in your corral by 5:00 a.m. That's a long time to be standing/sitting around on sub 55 deg. cold pavement. I'll have some saritorially challenged attire. I don't want to be dancing around, or chilling right before the start. It's all about energy conservation.

Echoing Flatland....

52, dak and even a small breeze may create a little cool. THough YMMV

Last year apparently the low for the half was 48, and I was good with a short sleeved shirt, shorts, throwaway arm warmers (i.e. festive knee-highs with the feet cut off), and throwaway gloves. I ditched the arm warmers at some point prior to the TTC, and gave the gloves to my family at the TTC (though I think I had actually taken them off before I saw them). So I will be sure to remember the ugly knee highs.

Lookin warm. Still much better than 2007.

I wear compression socks on all my longer training runs and races. I've never felt too hot in them, but my body is used to them by now.

Just to make note, for those runners staying a few days after the race....morning temps are predicted to get lower (40s) by Tuesday morning, so don't forego all your warmer clothing for your vacation.

I'm partially packed...laid out WAY too many clothing options and had to narrow it down. Now, if I could remember where my tiara ponytail holder is... :goodvibes

I must be looking at a different forecast because I'm seeing the coolest temps being during the weekend, and warmer the rest of the week. I'm still packing all types of clothing, I'm fully taking advantage of being able to check 2 bags for free on southwest.:rolleyes1

Adding to the conversation about throw away clothes/ keeping warm before the races. I packed a pair of arm warmers for each race, and found a heat sheets to wrap around my waist to keep my legs warm for the 1/2. Does disney hand out heat sheets after the races if the temp is in the 70's? I'd like to have something the morning of the marathon and will obviously be tossing the heat sheet that I use the morning of the 1/2. Should I pack some pants, or will there be heat sheets?

Accuweather has a low of 44 for Tuesday morning, which, being from the South, is still a little chilly for me. But Accuweather's lows trend lower than weather.com....

I bet Charles knows the answer of the mylar blankets...I can't remember if I have seen them when it has been warm, but usually it is cold the years I have run. If not, they are probably pretty cheap at a sporting goods store or similar (may be with the hunting/camping supplies). I packed a few large garbage bags.

If the temps are as projected, I shouldn't need to put a jacket in the checked bag for after the run, right?

Cherie...for the full, probably not. For the half, depending on how fast you run, you *might* want one...You'll generate lots of heat running and will cool down significantly after the run, even if it is a little warm. For instance, if you are going to run in 2 hours, and are in an early corral, it will still be close to 8 am when you finish and could still be a little cool. But that's just me...I get cold easily.

I know many of us grab a pool towel to sit on in the corrals, and just sit and relax that way! We've been told, that you toss the towels, etc to the side of the road and Disney has someone pick them up....

also, it doesn't hurt to bring a large trash bag - I know it was invaluable in the 2010 start area!

Don't forget - you can buy cheap throw away clothes at Salvation Army and Goodwill stores. I like getting XL flannel shirts. They keep me nice and warm for 40-50 degree start weather. Throw away sweat pants work well.

Holy cow, is it really below freezing right now? I see a current temperature in Orlando of -2 degrees Celsius (sorry but I'm Canadian so it's Celsius for me).

Glad the race isn't for a few more days.

Susie - I bought 2 polar tech shirts for DH - bright orange and red (hopefully Chris will be able to see them! :rotfl2:) for $5! :thumbsup2

It's turned absurdly cold in Florida over the past 1 1/2 days. Won't last, but it's a shocking temperature change for those of us who've been experiencing summer all December and don't really even own clothing warm enough for the extremes. :rotfl:

I'm all packed. I can't believe we'll be there in less than 24 hours! I packed clothes for all types of weather so I'm bound to have something to wear each day.
