Hi All-
Just wanted to pop over here to share our experience of trying to get a resort reservation for the 08 marathon. I'm not trying to be an alarmist, there definately is still availability :thumbsup2 But if you have your heart set on a specific resort you should probably do a room reservation asap. As of this week our agent said Pop is already full for the weekend and the standard rooms were all gone at AKL. ASMo still had weekend rooms, but those will probably go soon too.
ETA: I am booking through AAA and it occured to me since posting this that they have limited blocks of rooms that they can offer with their discount. There may still be non-AAA availability at Pop or standard AKL rooms. :) But my advice remains the same...if you are picky about where you are going to stay that weekend, make your plans soon!

Good Luck, happy running and DH will see you all for the Goofy!

Thanks for the update QueenGoblin!

I think this bears repeating too... since the Half has already sold out, I would imagine that the resorts are going to start filling up FAST, much faster than in years perhaps methinks. So if you haven't booked something for the weekend yet (even if you are not 100% sure of your dates yet), I would try and get something on the books.

Just my .02,
Kevin :earsboy:

Wow, I am lucky, I booked POP just earlier in the week....whew....

Thanks for the heads up!!!

Actually just reserved my car rental to. Don't want to be without a vehicle.

I'm guessing this means I shouldn't hope for an AP rate? Or a AA rate?
Already booked AKL for a standard view a few months back though - whew!

I had POFQ booked for marathon weekend (I stayed there last year) but always wondered what POP was like. I had been shying away from it because I have heard reports of very FIRM beds.

I just called and switched over to POP standard view. THe CM said both standard and preferred were still available. I will give it a try and I hope I will like the beds. The $70 savings per night for 2 nights (over POFQ) will pay for my flight down.

When I called and made my room reservation yesterday, the CM I spoke with said that AAA rates won't be available until after the 2008 rates are released and she suggested calling back then. Of course she couldn't tell me when it would be.

I booked BWI for more nights than I think we'll actually stay. We don't have flights yet, and I don't want to be stuck without a room for the nights we'll end up being there!

You might be suprised about the AP rates!

The past two years, I have had my travel agent email me when the rates came out with some options for marathon weekend. I have never seen anything at the values or mods in terms of AP rates, just deluxes and home away from homes, but it's worth a look (around November, I believe...)

Thanks for the info! Whew! I'm glad I did that first...

Well, after registering for the event that is.

Glad to hear you were still able to get Pop! Now that I think about it, I was working with an AAA agent and I think there is a limited number of rooms they can book with the AAA discount at each resort. So there may still be non-AAA availability at Pop and AKL. Plus I know reservations get cancelled and moved around so it never hurts to try back later if the place you really want is booked the first time you try.
I had heard that places booked up fast for the weekend, but until my AAA agent said POP and a standard at AKL was a no go for that weekend it didn't really sink in. I mean it is still 7 months away!

I'm there for 10 days,(I booked my room last year), but I'm still waiting to hear from TNT to register for the marathon. I'm getting worried.:hourglass
