Marathon Weekend 2026

Was it Brittany Charbonneau? I just saw she ran but not what happened. If you don’t know anything about her I recommend looking her up- sure she’s fast, but she really gets the rundisney “spirit.”
Yes it was! It was so cool to see her pass as first female at TTC! I have followed her on IG since her big Dopey year so I knew she was here and I was tracking her.

What a blast today was! The slowest I’ve ever run a marathon (6:51), the longest marathon I’ve run (28.5 according to Garmin), and some of the most fun I’ve had. Every character stop, two rides, and of course a finish line margarita. Congrats to all the finishers! And thank you to everyone out there cheering us on! That’s hard work and much appreciated.

Her baby was brought to the finish line while they were interviewing her. I think she ran the Dopey in 2022(?), and won all four races while in costume.

Did you get over to Oga’s?

Same! Just have been on a social media break til this weekend so I had no idea. I ran into her at Epcot the year after she won, when she just came to cheer, and she was so nice when we chatted briefly. I will have to look for posts about how her run went.

Also if you want to know how badly messed up the POTs and placements got this year. One of my friends and I were sitting behind the Dopey pushrim champion and looked at his bib and realized he hadn’t gotten the right placement either. Since along with being the winner he is also a full blown Paralympian. Want to guess what his corral was? E. Mind you this man did the full this year in 1:54.

To say the least suddenly my friend and I being in G. Looked even less ridiculous.

But hey it looked like the Savannah Bananas guy breezed through!

That’s what really counts these days.

Great to read all these reports! Congrats to all runners for your training and races!

I did Goofy this year, and I pushed too hard on the half marathon (and still walked a good chunk!). I was seriously considering not running today, and enjoying the day at Disney with my family instead. I ended up running and it was a good day. I leaned hard on a couple of memorable runs from August and September to keep on top of the heat and sweat.

This is such a wonderful community. Looking forward to sharing our training/support/anticipation/questions (from me) and answers (from so many of you) for Marathon 2027!

Cant wait to read more stories from the weekend!

I have a good story from yesterday:

I ran the half, then got cleaned up and we went over to OKW for a brunch reservation at Olivia’s. I checked in on the app, and we were sitting on a bench outside, waiting to be notified that our table was ready. I was wearing the medal. One of the cast members came by pushing a big custodial cart. She spoke to us and asked about the race. DH told her that it was my 51st half marathon. She was really interested and kind. She said she’d like to buy my brunch. We said no, not necessary, but thank you so much. I noted her name tag so I could give her a cast compliment—Grace, Beacon College. She came by a few minutes later, on her way back with her cart, and started talking to us again about running. We got called in to our table soon after, and didn’t see her again. At the end of the meal, our waitress brought the check, and said that management took care of my entree. As we left, one of the managers standing up front said, “Your breakfast was compliments of Grace. She asked us to take care of it.”

I looked up Beacon College later. It’s the first college in the nation accredited to award bachelor degrees exclusively to students with learning disabilities.

The age old adage is “nothing new on race day,” but today I was very happy to buck that advice and not only start but finish the marathon with @marty3d , my first time ever running a race with someone else!

My knee was twinging before the start of the race, and I had expected to “run” it solo, with no clue whether I was even going to be able to finish. Teaming up with Marty in the corral turned out to be incredibly motivating during all the difficult moments, and I know I wouldn’t have finished anywhere near as quickly, or as safely, without him.

(Although his definition of “left” might need some review ;) …and I definitely didn’t help matters by announcing we only had a 10K left at the 19 mile marker, so mistakes were made by all.)

We still managed to have some fun along the way, seeing @The Expert twice between the TTC and EPCOT, riding Expedition Everest, and stopping for a few photos. I still maintain he was being kind and staying back with me, but either way, I’m very grateful for the motivation and company all the way to the finish.

Thank you but @Novatrix is being too kind!

I am very glad to have provided any support or motivation I could - but that 100% went both ways. I knew I was undertrained coming into the marathon. Even with the issue with your knee, you were still faster than me for the first half ( and then some). Today I learned with the right motivation I could push a little harder on pace without a lot more effort.

I also hit a bit of a wall coming out of AK and if I’d been running this on my own, I’m certain I would have slowed down further.

(It is true that in the latter part of the race I might have struggled between the Canadian and American meaning of “Left” at least at 1 water stop.)

Overall, while this may have been one of my least prepared marathons, it may have been one of my favorites. Temperatures were great, at least until post AK. I loved Donald and Goofy wearing appropriately themed outfits. Support on the course was great and it was nice to see @The Expert twice. And while I’d also never run a marathon with someone before, I was glad I did.

Looking back on this race weekend, it may have been one of my favorties yet.Not because of anything rD did or didn’t do , but what the members of this board have done. From the 2nd Annual Mini-Golf Tournament, to Hurricane Hannah’s, the morning meet-ups, the spectating and support on the course, it’s been a truly memorable weekend so thank you to everyone who has been part of this. Looking forward to DATW tomorrow!
