Marathon Weekend 2025

I'm excited, as a Brooks wearer, for Disney-themed Brooks shoes! I mean, Haunted Mansion Brooks Ghosts are an obviously great idea!

My go-to, well-loved, and perhaps needs to be retired, New Balance Mad Hatter sneakers are my favorite pair, so I am excited for Disney-themed Brook shoes to replace them!

Brooks makes nice everything. One of the nicest race swag shirts I've gotten was a Brooks from the 2017 RnR Half Marathon in Raleigh.

Can anyone expand on this, as my experience is entirely post-covid with their in-house-provided shirts at the expo, and I haven’t run any big races where a major brand would be a sponsor

Brooks was the RnR sponsor when I did their Vegas races, and they did both the race shirts and some of the for-sale merch. I don't recall pricing being that different than the rD merch at the time, which was from Champion. I'm super stoked!

Hard to say, but when Champion stopped sponsoring runDisney, prices still kept going up. Yet quality declined. I've been doing Disney races for almost 20 years (yiiiikes) and prices only go up! At least with a name brand we might get a few more predictable-quality options.

I will say the Brooks race shirts I have from other races are some of my favorites, but they're a different fabric, and way different sizing compared to Disney's. And I hope Disney continues to offer the women's specific v-neck cut option. TBD I suppose on all that!

True. Brooks was the sponsor for Twin Cities Marathon Weekend, and they just switched to ASICS and the quality just didn't thrill me

I’ll reserve total judgment until I see it in practice; but I have been asking for this for years and have disparaged the rD merch quality and variety in multiple SAFD posts, so it’s only fair that I give credit when it is apparently due. I’m excited to see how the partnership works and have been quite impressed with my Brooks gear in the past.

As the official running shoe for runDisney, Brooks will offer shoes and provide official race shirts at runDisney race weekends starting with an upcoming 2025 runDisney race. At the same time, Brooks will create Disney-themed running shoes featuring popular Disney characters. And in 2026, Brooks will design Brooks jackets for Club runDisney members.


"Provide" leads me to believe they'll be making the race shirts.

Excited about this, but I need to temper my expectations and not expect better shirts until W+D next year... the "starting with an upcoming 2025 runDisney race" instead of saying which one makes me feel like it will be something that starts with the 2025 season.... hopefully I am wrong about this though!

Hope that the "upcoming 2025runDisney race" is MW. I'm not running, but will be there and I would definitely considering plunking down for some (likely overpriced) Disney themed shoes. And I would love if the first shoe was a Haunted Mansion "Ghost".

Yeah that language was too vague! But honestly, why announce this now if they're not going to offer Brooks products really soon? Now that it's announced, they ought to be moving heaven and earth to make sure this launches by Marathon Weekend. It's the big, flagship race weekend!! Brooks should want to be at that expo!

Plus Brooks does a lot of race-specific and holiday-specific limited edition shoes. I get the impression they can crank them out relatively easily based on the number of crazy limited edition designs they offer. Fingers crossed.

Pre-VQ it was kinda busy but manageable over there, they (NB) had a space alongside the other vendors. I’d walk by to get a glance at what they were showcasing but that was about it. I’d like to think a VQ won’t be necessary but I can see them being cautious with the hype of it coming back.

True, but that's how they get ya. CrD is the LL for official merchandise, but the Brooks shoes will be in the Expo so their position is that the Crd does not extend benefits to the Expo. This is a sh*tty rabbithole to go down.

I have a pair of the little mermaid new balance shoes still new in box. I don't run in new balance so I keep saving them for who knows what, as they seemed like irreplaceable goods. Maybe now that I have the hope of having more themed sneakers, I can finally face wearing them!

I love this idea... I have strong love of DinoLand since my son is dino obessed ... I like that idea of riding it... may be quicker than everest too which is nice for slow people like me. I am putting this as a possible idea depending on my speed.

I did Triceratops Spin back in Jan when the EE people didn't want to let us do single rider.
The Spin was a short sit-down break, quick to do, and as noted earlier, we run right by it.
And I also have great memories of the whole Dino land area from when my kids were younger, and Primeval Whirl was a hoot.

Also going to use this moment as a PSA from a wheels athlete. Please do not turn your headphones all the way up. Yes even if you’re using bone conduction. That can still get to a point of being too loud. I made that mistake once before transitioning out of them

Every wheels athlete has some kind of horror story of being cut off unintentionally or intentionally in rare cases. And about 90 percent of the time headphones are a contributing factor to this happening.

Because while the fastest of us will be on and off the course with the lead runners. Some of us will be with the front pack. And some others will be in the middle of the pack. Since our slow pace is what best be described as a mid pack pace.

We are constantly having to look out for our own safety. And other peoples because of either people not hearing us because of the headphones. Or they think they can get away with doing things because for some reason even though they’ve never sat in one of our devices. They seem to think they know my physics then I know my physics.

Not so fun fact last year I had someone decide to start an argument with the bike marshal that was with me for the DL 10k. About moving five feet when exiting Galaxy’s Edge because we turn like a freaking truck and we need room.

(Especially with handcycles. With chairs you can pick up the front wheel and move it over gradually. You can only turn one way with a handcycle. And I’ve had to take my foot out of the stirrups before to assist with that. )

The bikes were still new to this. So I don’t I think she realized the amount of power she had then. But a more experienced marshal could have the grounds to remove someone for risking theirs and mine’s safety arguably.

Please be mindful so you don’t get rammed into because your suddenly somewhere you weren’t five seconds ago. And so we don’t have injuries that take us out for literal months.

Because the reality is if your suddenly in a space you weren’t a moment before and aren’t hearing our yelling. You’re going to end up with a wheel on your heel if not worse. We do not stop fast and we can try to ditch if we have time but that’s not always an option.

(Some of y’all might remember from the Running Thread me talking about a friend who due to being cut off ended up in the hospital with broken ribs among other things. She wasn’t allowed to travel for months.)

I am not saying don’t use headphones. I am just saying don’t have them so loud that you can’t hear me and other runners have to possibly yank you out of my way
