Marathon Weekend 2025

I would have a convo with the front desk about that honestly
I immediately called the housekeeping number and they told me to email guest relations which I did. Frankly, still a bit disoriented, I think once I've had some uninterrupted sleep and am less grouchy I'll relay my disappointment to the front desk too. Adding insult to injury, when I first got back from the marathon, I overheard someone doing room checks then and invited him in, he looked up my room number on the pad and said it didn't need to be done. I then got a call to arrange a time 2 hours later because they said that was a mistake.

So we made it through Animal Kingdom and were starting to feel good enough that we would be able to finish when my wife tripped on a traffic cone and fell hard. It was about 19.5 miles right before the medical tent, where we watched the balloon ladies go by. We got a ride in an ambulance to the main medical center at the race finish. The medical staff there were wonderful.

We are still at urgent care. Looks like a wrist fracture and some bruising.

But up to that point it was an amazing experience.

Just to update: X-rays confirmed a fracture at the end of the radius, laceration on pinky finger. Also heavy bruise on elbow, shoulder, and ribs. Going to need to see orthopedic when we get home.
We were able to go have a nice dinner at Steakhouse 71.

I am very proud of her for getting us into running a year and a half ago and pushing us to get into shape so that we can do the run Disney races. Especially proud this weekend for guiding and encouraging through all four races.

I hope she doesn’t mind me posting her finishing photo with the amazing medical staff at the race:

This is a better memory of today and this weekend:

I watched racers go by this morning for about 30 min outside Beach Club and I saw him, but didn’t quite get the costume. Please educate me!
Lazarus Lake. You can look him up on wiki. He is the creator of a race called the Barkley Marathon. It has bizarre rules. He also does Big’s Backyard Ultra. This is the race that never ends.

Also known as the "Race that eats its young." If you ever want to engage in schadenfreude and assure yourself that there are crazier people out there, watch the documentary on youtube.

Disney really needs to figure out housekeeping and room “checks” during MW when they know a lot of their guests are napping or going to sleep early.

I'm very tired so I won't go into a long race report. Just wanted to say thanks again to @SheHulk for great companionship during the second half of the race. We found each other before AK and carried each other all the way to the finish 🤩

And even stopped for a quick ride 😉

Picture of Leia and "partner" 😆
Just to say it to the world, I can't thank you enough for your support today. I had never been so close to pulling myself from a race. I would never have finished without you. And I'm really glad we rode Everest, my queasiness notwithstanding!

Good morning everyone! Hope you slept well. I know I did!
