Well this morning was interesting. I came out fine but had an issue at the start when my bike decided to take three tries before it began to rotate. Maybe the cold since I didn’t have that problem starting from a stop again. Still don’t know what that was. Felt bad for the wheels behind me. Who I knew wanted to go. And I had placed myself forward since while I knew I’m not a front pack for us over the long. I do tend to come out of the start very fast and didn’t want to have problems with another wheels.
Two different people had flats. One while at the start. And I watched one of our other wheels crash on the downhill after mile 1. She’s got a bruised rib but is otherwise okay. Attached the vid because it’s a good example of why it’s good to heed our warnings. I watched the leg of the guy that wasn’t moving and thus caused the crash since she had nowhere to go. Get hit by one of her side wheels.
Please remember on the narrow section on downhills that are warnings are as important as ever. We don’t stop on dimes (I only was able to pull up right next to her because I applied my brake as soon as I saw it happen.) and collisions is a disaster for both sides.
