Marathon Weekend 2025

You're absolutely right! It seems there is time to recertify a course if enough people are vocal about this.

DH will happily oblige!

There is the flyover that goes to the MK resorts area now.

Agreed! I just went to https://www.rundisney.com/contact/ and filled out the form to voice my disappointment in World Showcase being removed from the end of the race. Hopefully, with enough people, they might reconsider or not make this a permanent change.

Yeah, and I think I’ll miss the “MK reveal” you get when leaving the TTC then heading north on World Drive - glimpses of the castle on the left, CR on the right, then eventually making your way in the park. Keeps the excitement up. The GF path is sort of a boring way to enter MK. :-)
Not running under the Magic Kingdom sign is lame, but I know that's been the case in previous marathons. I'm glad I'm doing Princess so I'll still get that.

So impact for Everest rides might be minimal depending on pace.
Truth be told, if riding Everest is a priority (which it is for me) then you can adjust your pace accordingly. My plan was to run at my marathon pace between picture stops and attempt to average a 9:30 pace to get to Everest when it presumably opens at 7:30 assuming that it opens at the same time that it has for the past few years. Thus, I'll be taking my time with picture stops and averaging a 10:30 pace. I believe that my math is correct, but feel free to tell me if I'm off.

Can't they add some more HS time instead of all that parking lot time? We barely touch HS.

Like everyone else, the extra half hour pre-sun is totally fine with me, I'm awake anyway. I'm so sad that I won't be finishing through World Showcase in first (and likely only) Dopey though
I'm in the same boat for first (and likely only) Dopey. I think the extra half hour early start will make a small but appreciated difference to me. The agony of running laps in the sun in the Blizzard Beach parking lot back in 2023 still brings back painful memories. During the 2025 marathon sunrise will be at 7:19, giving us more time in the shade.

As soon as I saw the email, I came here to see y’all’s comments. As a first timer I don’t have much to say on the change. I know everyone loved ending on world showcase and I was looking forward to that. I do like that we get to run through all the MK lands but it doesn’t look like AK or HS has much time in them at all. Only bad thing about the early start time for me just means my family may not get up in time to see me.

If anyone else is also running Wineglass - they sent out an email about 10 mins after Rundisney with a link to the program and some dates are 2023 and some are 2024 😂 not I’m just doubly annoyed

Yeah I think I'm fine no matter what but this definitely puts me in AK earlier. That pace sounds about right.

I'm being super dramatic about this, but moving World Showcase from the end is like Boston not ending at Boylston or NYC not ending in Central Park or Berlin not ending at the Brandenburg Gate. It's ICONIC. :P

Exactly!

I'm going to contact runDIsney too. I've never contacted them about anything as they've gradually chipped away at the runner experience, but cutting the World Showcase Victory Lap in the Marathon is kind of egregious.

As always, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and wait to see how it plays out. I will miss ending through World Showcase, but I do love it lit up with torches in the dark too. My preference would be to get both like we did years ago, but oh well.

I will be curious to see what cone alley is like coming before MK now. It was crowded before and I do worry that without MK to surther dispurse the crowds it might be even worse. I've done the marathon enough now that any change to the course always feels weird. However, I appreciate them giving the heads up on the change this afr out to start getting my head around the changes this year.

It might be even tighter that that - the walking path from GF isn't super wide... but we'll see!
