Marathon Weekend 2025

I get ocular migraines also and usually is the warning sign that I am dehydrated. Usually a bottle of sports drink and sitting in a nice dark room will squash them in 15-30 minutes. But yes, they are very annoying and inconvenient especially when they pop up in the middle of an activity or driving. The blurry spots in your vision are the worst.
Not to mention scary! The first time I got one I panicked big time.

Yes,, Always YMMV. I need fueling even with a 5K. I kept bonking during my hard 10K's and finally figured out in fact I do need to fuel.

What do you mean by “bonking?” Technically, bonking is when the body completely depletes all muscularly-available glycogen and you can’t physically move your body. I’m sure everyone has seen videos of runners with wobbly legs collapsing near the finish line. That’s bonking. If you run hard during a 10k, it sounds like you’re fatigued, which is kind of the point of an all-out effort. I’m a proponent of running your own race, so if it works for you, that’s great. But my earlier point is that there’s no biological “need” to eat sugar during a 3.1 mile run.

I'm fighting the urge so hard to add a night at the beginning of my trip just to experience one of these rooms. Ugh......
Update: the urge won. I booked a Duo Studio for 1/7. I really hated the thought of flying in on the day of the expo for Dopey anyway, and this way I can actually stay at Poly for once and for a good bit cheaper than a room normally is. I'm excited!

Off topic but in case anyone wants to combine a MW trip with a shiny new resort (and take the small risk that they do in fact finish on time, they're not still dealing with punch list items during your stay, etc), cash bookings for the Island Tower at Polynesian Villas & Bungalows opened to the public today. Stays start 12/17: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/polynesian-resort/rates-rooms/

Several variety of room types for different traveling party sizes.
A club level room at $1,200 a night includes a beverage cooler but no fridge? I know it has been discussed a lot on the DVC threads, but I can't hardly believe it.

SAFD: I am loving this discussion because this is my first full and I am sure I will have to adjust the strategy I’ve used for halfs. That strategy is two honey stinger chews every 2 miles or so, LMNT in my vest for hydration and a mustard packet at miles 8, 10 and sometimes 12. Believe it or not but the mustard prevents me from getting muscle cramps towards the end of the race. Plus it’s a decent palate cleanser after all the sweet!

And it’s not even an on-site club level—you have to walk over to the main Poly to use their club level, which I think has drastically declined in quality since the Moana renovation. Adding more people using it seems like a great idea.

I don't think there are club-level rooms in the tower; they are referencing the existing club-level availability. (Though you can book tower rooms specifically, the hotel, dvc longhouse, and dvc tower are all on the same availability page.)

I just heard from someone yesterday to eat mustard for cramps. Never heard this before. Not sure I could stomach it during a race through.

Not to prolong the OT discussion but just noting in case there is any confusion among posters that none of the new Island Tower rooms offer Club Level service. There are no new rooms or eligible guests being added to the current Poly Club Level.

So, since HH may be under construction, can we assume you're hosing the meetup in January?? :D I've wanted to say in a cabin since they announced them!

My window is tomorrow and I'll be shuffling points but not moving resorts (BLT). When/if our Poly resale clears before point stays open, I may move then.

Actually I chatted with my family about that possibility already and they said they would be fine as long as we do a pot luck type thing. So yes we can do it if people want ;)

My coach always leaves me the same note before a longer race - big pancake breakfast until full and then eat one more. All the training is almost worth getting to that day alone. 😂
What about Mickey waffles? I'll be doing the Fairytale Challenge next year, and I plan to get Mickey waffles after the 10K. Heck, I want to go to MK that day and also get that nutella fruit waffle.

@DisneyMountainWoman- that cabin looks so amazing! It is defined on our Disney bucket list. Hoping to maybe grab on for our Nov. 2025 trip.

Our window opens tomorrow. We are booked at VGf in a one standard bedroom. The problem is DH agreed to add a night and fly home Monday. So we are homeless Sunday night. I have it waitlisted and I think since I waitlisted one night before the 7 month window, my chances are good. However, Boulder Ridge has a one bedroom available. Thinking about switching there and saving some points. Can’t make up my mind. We are going more park heavy this trip vs. our usual longer trips which have tons of resort time. Also thinking I might waitlist BLT for our entire stay, but I know that’s a long shot.
