Marathon Weekend 2023

I found a hack on Facebook that supposedly sends live tracking updates via text message.

Choose the email option and then put in your number with the appropriate @ below:

So if you have AT&T for example and your phone number is 1234567891, send the confirmation email to 1234567891@txt.att.net

I have no idea how well this will work but I did get a text confirmation on my phone that I’m now tracking myself. 🤷🏼‍♀️

EDIT: I’m not sure how this works for other providers that are not Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile.

It works. I’ve used it for multiple race weekends.

Yes, for the 5K. However, you will still have to go to the expo later that day to pick up the rest of your bibs and shirts for the challenge since they will only provide the 5K bib.
Agreed. Try to make the Expo. I arrived last year with minutes to spare and still was able to pick up bibs. IIRC, Dopey registration was up on the second floor, off by itself.
I’ve heard about being able to pick up a bib on race morning, just not sure exactly where.

Just an eternal lurker stopping by to offer gratitude for all the great info the users in this forum have provided over the last two marathon weekends (last year was our first one doing the 10k, and we’ve upgraded to the half this year). Excited to get down there soon!

Some further data points from our group (HM only bibs):
40xxx - 2:01 HM POT
2x 41xxx - 2:16-2:30 estimate (no POT)

It’s almost 1:30am but I’m here, unpacked, and settled in my room after very minimal flight troubles (getting to the airport was another story…). I saw and spoke to a couple runners at the airport, which was nice. Now I just need to find the info on signing up for the expo virtual queue and set an alarm so I can get up in time to do it! I’m hoping that I’ll get a decent spot and be able to purchase the items I’m interested in. If I get an early enough return time I’ll post here just in case I can help out anyone else that doesn’t. Looking forward to an exciting weekend!

apologies if this was mentioned before, but interesting communication about drop offs for races from rD today:

(It says rideshares and drop offs for the full are between 4 and 6 am at DHS charter lot and then they have to take a bus to EPCOT. The race starts at 5 lol)
I'm reading it as if you decide to arrive that late, you have to go to HS. But if you get there before 4, you can get dropped at Epcot.

Hey all,

Officially scrubbing my first Dopey. I am down with a mystery respiratory illness and sicker than I’ve ever been in my life. It’s been a week since symptoms started and I’m not making any real progress. Devastated is an understatement, particularly since where I am in life this was kind of my one shot at marathon weekend for the foreseeable future. I’ve emailed rundisney for a refund (lol) or a chance to pick up swag and medals for a chance to run this independently when I’m well. Would love to earn it one day.

Will be rooting for you all - I can’t believe this is the end of my marathon weekend journey but I’m sure there’s a lesson mixed up in all of this.

I'm at BWI, waiting for the airport to officially "open". The lobby is open, but there's nobody at the counters or security, yet.

My DW's fight was delayed (she was helping her parents with some stuff after Christmas), but now we're taking off at the same time!
I'll be at BWI bright and early like you on Saturday (I'm doing only the marathon). Good luck with your travels!

So many people sleeping in this morning and I was up at 5! I was actually awake at 4:20, but made myself stay in bed. Never fell back asleep, but it was the last morning before super early wakeups so it was worth a try. WDW is a rough place to be a super early riser. Nothing is open! I'm glad I thought to buy some yogurt and fruit last night so I have something to eat!

I hear you. I set my alarm "late" at 6:30 but was up long before it anyway.

I've decided to just stay on UK time so I've been getting up at 4am and in bed by 8pm - hoping that'll make my Sunday morning easier!
