Marathon Weekend 2023

I don't remember how it worked in previous years but can you register for multiple events (like the 5k, 10k, and half) at once or do you have to do each one at a time?

Blocking off April 19 on my calendar!

And did we see that the POT cutoff for wine and dine got increased to 2:15 (10:18 pace). If it's the same for marathon weekend, would it be safe to assume the cutoff time for the full would be 4:30? And then if that's the case, what would be the required 10mile and half times to get a qualifying POT for dopey?

Yet another thing they've managed to monetize, sadly. 🙄 Luckily for me, Dopey usually doesn't sell out right away, but still, that's just another DVC perk that's been taken away.
It is 10 year anniversary of dopey so between that and international runners or people who didn’t want to gamble going back for 2022…

You can but you run the risk of one or more races selling out while in your cart same with registering multiple runners

Sidebar…
I almost want to sign up for a virtual to run when I’m on the wish the following week

You very well could be correct, which is why I'll be in front of my PC at 10AM on the 19th, just in case. Not taking chances here!

Based on the Humphrey’s calculator, the 10 mile would be 1:37:12 (9:43 m/mile) and the HM would be 2:09:30 (9:53 m/mile). I’m hoping these hold to be true because I have a HM time that meets this and the previous one wasn’t possible for me just yet.

Thank you! I’ll have to see how my training is going, and if that’ll be possible, but it’s definitely more attainable than the 4hr cutoff. Now to search for a 10 mile/half race in the fall that’s not too far…

I'm going to drop an email to RD to see if they might amend the POT for the marathon to include a 15K. Those seem more popular than a 10 miler. If anyone else wants to join me...

SAFD: I’m on board with so many of your answers already. The only other one I can think of is I wish they would keep the expo open late on Wednesday. Flying in from the West Coast so many of the flights get in too late for me to be able to make it to the expo on Wednesday. So I either have to find a redeye Tuesday night or take an extra day off of work and fly in Tuesday morning.

That would be nice, but I find taking the redeye and landing the day the expo opens helps me to adjust to the timezone and early wakeup calls a little easier.

OK all of you "I stay offsite to save tons of money" people. Where is it that you're staying? Mama needs to budget. Because a lot of the stuff I'm looking at has a parking fee (because offsite=rental car for us) AND a resort fee on top of the nightly fee. And the places I'm looking at just aren't that much cheaper. I've seen a few way less expensive places pop up in my searches, but the reviews definitely make them seem like non-options to me.

Are you saving money or "saving money" from what moderate/deluxe rack rates are?

I've stayed at Universal on all of my runDisney trips. I have an annual pass with Universal and the parks fit the type of touring (no plan, just do what you can when you can) that I can do during a race weekend. For almost all of our trips, we stayed in a family suite at Cabana Bay although this year I splurged on 2 nights (Wednesday and Thursday) at the Royal Pacific to get the Express Passes for Wednesday through Friday. For this year, with my AP discount, the RP room was $209 per night and the CB suite was $130 per night. HOWEVER, since then, Universal has seriously upped their hotel prices and there haven't been as generous discounts. The same room at CB is $265 per night without a discount. I'm going to wait until race registration day and then decide whether I can stomach paying that rate and hope that an AP rate comes out or look for some place else to stay.

On a previous Disney trip, we stayed at the Marriott village hotels and they were nice hotels with a breakfast included and a couple quick service restaurants on property. Nothing special, but definitely a clean room. I've also heard good things about the Sheraton Vistana and would be interested in staying there if I want a little bit more space. I have points with Marriott so I tend to gravitate towards their properties.

(And if anyone wants more information about staying over on the "dark side" during MW, let me know. I know ALL of the tips and tricks for Universal)

DH and I stayed at Marriott village 2 years ago and surprise didn't find any information about a $25/day parking fee until about a week before our trip when they sent us an email about moving us from the Fairfield to the Marriott (this was when a LOT of stuff was shut down.) That was a not-so-pleasant surprise. I'm just trying to figure it all out. If All Stars are $160-ish per night and we can spend ~$100 on transportation (something for a grocery stop on the way to the resort, Mears or similar back to MCO) is the same as a resort that is "$130" per night with a $25 resort/parking fee. :confused3 I'm trying really hard to figure out if I'm missing something here.

I always stay at one of the Marriott properties at Flamingo Crossings, usually Spring Hill Suites. I get a bit of a discount being over 60 years young. My Wine & Dine week reservation is just under $150 a night and my Marathon week reservation is just over $150 a night. That includes all taxes and free parking and free breakfast. I also have the top lifetime status at Marriott (over 1,000 nights) so I have no problems getting early check-in and late check-out and fireworks views. We always rent a car and as an AP don't pay for parking at the parks. I understand the arithmetic changes a if you stay on property without a car, although transportation to and from the airport then needs to be included as well. If you look at a map you'll see that Flamingo Crossings is almost the same distance to the parks as the All Stars.

Edit.. remember that Disney hotels charge a resort parking fee as well (but then not a separate park parking fee).

Yes, you do have to figure out if the math works out. That being said, I am a HUGE fan of having my own transportation. It is worth a little extra for me as I am not stuck at Disney (I know that there are people that like the Disney bubble, I am not one of them) and at the whim of their buses and paying Disney prices for meals, etc. On non-runDisney trips, we get a private car transport to and from the airport and it costs us $120 plus tips and includes a grocery stop.
