Nice, I emailed them regarding the deferral option that they tweeted about and haven't gotten a response yet. I have been seeing on Facebook people have been getting responses from runDisney that Dopey and Goofy runners can't get the deferral option anymore and can only get the gift card or now park ticket option.

Rats. I was really hoping to defer to Dopey next year, although I understand the challenges with that. I sent an email earlier in the week, but haven't heard back anything yet.

Hm, I haven't received mine yet. I was under the impression that if we ran the Dopey we didn't need to do anything and they'd just send us an electronic gift card. Should I try and email them now? I'm not even sure what email address to send it to.

I'd give them some time. They've got a lot of people to work through to get the reimbursements done. It will likely take them several days to get to everyone. I am also under the impression that they will send us an electronic gift card automatically. They may also be waiting to give people time to notify them that they would prefer an alternate reimbursement before just sending the gift card and having people get mad because that wasn't the option that they wanted.

It's all still full price. I might nab some Goofy stuff if it were on sale. After the Half was cancelled, I returned my Goofy merch at the resort gift shop, but I might be tempted at a lower price.

Right. The OP was asking about 2019. They could go as early as Jan 2-6, but that seems way early even for Disney.

Well back on home state soil. We had an extended vacation after the races with the kids. But long weekend at home before I go back to work so yay! May start on a trip report while settling in back home this weekend. Calling for an ice storm later tonight. Brrrr.

Yeah they likely wouldn't do lower price stuff on there. The outlet store in Florida is the best place for that. I'm sure half merchandise will be very cheap there.

Right. The OP was asking about 2019. They could go as early as Jan 2-6, but that seems way early even for Disney.

The pattern is to keep it the weekend before the MLK holiday weekend, which for 2018 is on the 15th and 2019 the 21st. So, for those super planners, marathon weekend will most likely be 1/9 - 1/13. Don't know the weather forecast yet, but pretty sure those will be the dates.

Well, I had my first DNF... It's what happens when you dont train properly. Yes, I've been dealing with some PF pain, and still am. What got me though I think is I was so concerned about it / favoring it, I started getting cramps in weirs places. I got a couple under control, but had a couple I just could NOT get rid of. When I would try to run, it would just pop back up.. I was walking, and even though it seemed like my cadence and stride was matching others, they just kept walking away from me lol... At first I was just so mad at myself, and still am to a point.. But I've accepted it... Moved on, and made a solemn swear to myself.. If (when) I sign up for another race, I will dedicate myself to it.. Got swept at mile 19-20 in WWOS... I COULD have gotten back with the balloon ladies, but in my mind, I realized that was still 6 more miles, and I just dont think it would have ended well

Congrats to everyone that finished, or didnt finish, but had the courage to start!!!

Has anyone ever had the roof of their mouth hurt after a full before? I went to eat yesterday and it was unbelievably painful. I knew my legs and feet were going to hurt but I didn't expect that. Thankfully it's not as bad today but it still hurts.

Yes, after a 1/2 earlier last year... I hadnt really thought about it and ate something salty.... wow... did it hurt... Liquid was fine, but wow, that salty stuff hurt

I went to both Disney outlets yesterday (Vineland and International Drive)and there was nothing from Marathon weekend yet.I saw a couple generic Run Disney visors and hats but not much else.The Disney outlet at the International Drive location is so much smaller now that its probably harder to get them to stock marathon weekend merchandise there,and if they do it'll probably be gone as soon as it is stocked.

PS: Avoid the International Drive location,at least at night,the car parked next to me got broken into,the window was broken and the guy was calling the cops as I was getting back to my car.That got me thinking that on another occasion I saw broken glass on the ground,maybe from the same thing happening.The Vineland location is not only closer to Disney but safer as well.

How crowded were the parks this year? I'm thinking of Goofy next year... but not if i'm facing crowds. I'd be hitting parks after the marathon, not before.

They were busy earlier in the week. I thought the weekend and Monday/Tuesday were less crowded.

The Touring Plans Crowd Calendar has 10,10,10,7,7,7,6,6 for WDW Crowd levels from 1/4 to 1/11 this year. I can handle 7's and 6's.

Yep that matches up pretty well. A lot of school winter vacations didn't go back until this week which contributed to the higher crowds.
